Brian felt lost. He could feel his chest tightening up every time he called Jordin, and it would direct him to her voicemail. She never ignored his calls, especially on a Saturday. He knew for a fact she had nothing planned.
But she went home with Zack. Zack Baker took his girlfriend home, and he wouldn't be surprised if he got what he wanted. It wasn't Jordin's fault. Zack had the reputation to make any girl weak in the knees. It's how he worked. The guys witnessed it plenty of times on tour, despite his marriage, as he would bring girls back to the hotel almost every night.
He ran a hand through his hair as he thought about Zack being in Jordin's apartment, probably complimenting everything she does. He's probably making her waffles, because that's what he does to girls he really likes. And she probably thinks it's so sweet of him to do so. He can just picture Zack now, his arms wrapped around Jordin playfully, and of course she would be too oblivious to see it. He knew her too well.
He groaned, dialing her number another time. Her voicemail once again, and this time he spoke, "Jordin, I don't know what's going on. I'm sorry I couldn't see you yesterday, and I'm sorry I can't see you ever... But please understand that I love you. I promise I'm trying to make this work. Please talk to me, Baby. This isn't like you. Just call me back. I love you."
He groaned, tossing himself onto his bed. He needed to start talking to Jordin more, especially if Zack was in the picture now. So long as Cameron was done for, then Brian saw this as a good sign. Instead of competing with two guys for her love, he only has to compete with one.
He rolled over, picking up his phone to dial again, this time calling Jimmy. It took a few tries, but he finally answered, "Why are you calling me this early?" He demanded. He had drunk more than he expected to the night before and was feeling a terrible hangover.
"Because Zack stayed at Jordin's last night," Brian stated and Jimmy sat up, tossing the covers off of him. Leana was next to him, and he didn't want her to hear anything he would tell Brian. Leana would question him and he would be forced to spill everything. He couldn't keep a secret from her. It was impossible.
"What are you talking about?" Jimmy asked when he reached the studio downstairs.
"Last night you were too drunk to drive Jordin home. Zack, being the knight in shining armor he is, drove her home. She told him he could stay because she felt bad about him having to drive all the way back to Newport."
"That bastard," Jimmy grumbled, running a hand over his face. Normally he wouldn't be mad at Zack. This wasn't the first time Brian and Zack would fight over a girl. It really was all is fair in love and war for them, but Zack had taken it to a new level. He was playing dirty by knowing exactly what was going on. He knew about Brian, and he was using it to his advantage.
"I've been calling her all morning, Jimmy. She's not answering. I think she's mad at me because I told her I wouldn't go to the bar with her yesterday," Brian explained.
Of course, Jimmy thought. Zack used that to his advantage to convince Jordin that Cameron wasn't the best boyfriend to have.
"Brian," Jimmy sighed, "To be fair, Zack can't go after a girl just because of you."
"I know," Brian sighed.
"But that doesn't mean you can't go after a girl, either," Jimmy added and Brian raised an eyebrow.
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about fighting fire with fire. If you want Jordin, then you need to convince her that Zack isn't the right one for her. But believe me when I say Zack is trying the same thing. It's time for you to grow some balls and actually start to talk to her. Because who knows how much longer Zack needs before he finally has Jordin where he wants her."
Brian knew exactly what Jimmy was talking about. Zack was relentless when it came to girls. If he wanted someone, he wouldn't stop until he got her, "You're right. I'm going to win her over," He stated firmly.
"Good luck, Dude."
"Thanks, Jimmy. I'll see you Monday," Brian said before hanging up.
Now all he needed was a plan.

Jordin once again tossed her phone aside, ignoring the calls Cameron was sending her. She ignored the constant texts and focused her attention back to Zack, "These waffles really are amazing, Zack. Where did you learn to cook?" She asked.
Zack smiled widely, "My mom."
"They're so good," She laughed as she took another bite, "I never pictured a guy like you knowing how to make waffles as delicious as these ones."
"Sweetie, there's a lot of thing about me you wouldn't picture," He smiled and she giggled. He watched her finish her breakfast before he pushed his plate away, "So, I was thinking I'm already here. We should do something," He smiled.
"Oh? Like what?" She questioned, picking up both plates before taking them to the sink. He followed her.
"First of all, I do the dishes," He smiled, taking the plates out of her hands.
"Not fair! You cooked for me!" She protested.
"Okay, okay. I wash and you dry," He compromised.
"Deal," She grinned as Zack turned on the water, "So what do you want to do?"
"Well, there's an infinite amount of things we can do. There's the beach, the zoo, the park," He rambled. Zack already knew what he wanted to do, but he was just making it seem like he didn't have this completely planned already, "Hey, you like beautiful views, right?" He asked.
"Who doesn't?"
"I'm going to take you on a scenic tour," He smiled, "All the best spots in Southern California."
"Sounds wonderful," She smiled, drying the last dish, "I should get dressed. Um, I don't really have any clothes for you to wear," She shrugged, remembering the Zack had taken her home not according to the plan.
"Don't worry. I always keep clothes in my car. Go ahead and shower and stuff. I'll be right back," He smiled.
"Yeah, the door will be unlocked. There's a spare bathroom over there," She pointed to a closed door and he nodded before watching her disappear behind the bedroom door.
Zack smiled to himself, mapping out where he was going to drag Jordin around for the day. He had his plan thought out perfectly. By the time dark would fall, she'd be exhausted and he'd offer her to stay at his house. That's when he decided he would make the first move.
He walked out to his car, grabbing a few clothes from his trunk. He always kept spare Vengeance University merchandise in the trunk in case he ever ran into fans. He grabbed a pair of jeans before closing his trunk, turning to head back inside when his phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket, checking the caller ID when he smirked at Brian's name.
"Hello?" Zacky greeted.
"Hey, so I wrote some new parts. We should record them out today," Brian suggested.
"It's Saturday, dude. I'm busy," Zack answered simply.
"You can't be busy the whole day," Brian rolled his eyes.
"I am, actually."
"Oh? What are you up to today?" Brian asked casually and Zacky smirked. He knew exactly what Brian was trying to do.
"I'm hanging out with Jordin today. We're getting ready to spend the day together."
Brian scoffed, "That's messed up, Dude. You know she has a boyfriend."
"And?" Zacky shrugged and Brian could feel his blood boil, "She explained his behavior to me. Sounds like he doesn't really give two shits about her. So I think she's deserving of someone a little more attentive. So I have a lovely day planned," Zack threw in Brian's face. He had to bite his lip and take in a deep breath to refrain from saying anything that would give him away.
"Zack..." Brian trailed off.
"I have to go. Sorry you didn't get your chance with her. But on the bright side, you still have your girlfriend, right? Let it go, Bri. This cat's in the bag already," Zack smirked before hanging up.
Zack Baker knew exactly what he was doing.
