Love in Music

Something Tells Me I'm Almost There

It had been two weeks since performing the song to the boys. Two weeks of meetings, practice times and hanging with Louis.

I felt like my days had been separated between the studio and Louis. If I wasn’t at the studio Louis was either taking me somewhere or he was at the hotel. And that was fine, I was more than okay with that. But I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know what he wanted.

“Ready to be announced to the world.” Louis said dramatically, falling down onto the couch next to me. I sighed and rested my head on his shoulder. Louis was affectionate. I had figured that out just from watching him with the boys. But he was affectionate with me too. Constantly touching like he needed the security of someone being there. It wasn’t hard to indulge his need.

“Smile love.” Louis held his phone up, the screen switched around so we could see ourselves in it. I smiled sweetly in time with Louis as he captured the picture.

“Great, putting that one on twitter.” My eyes widened as he instantly set it up. “Ready boys.” I sat up as each of the boys in the room held their phones in their hands, ready.

“1, 2, 3 POST!” Niall counted loudly before all five boys focused on their phones again. I watched Louis as he hit post. My phone started buzzing.

“Fuck, crap, shit.” I mumbled, staring at my phone. The whole world was currently reading the boys tweets.

“Your mouth is as charming as ever.” Louis complimented, patting my head like I was a toddler. I swatted his hand away, pouting towards Luce who walked over and fell into my lap.

“It’s okay Hun.” She said, running her fingers through my hair. I sighed happily and leant my head against her stomach.

“Yeah, you get used to the millions of people constantly stalking your page and picking at every little word you post.” I pushed against Louis’ shoulder annoyed.

“Piss off.” I mumbled to him, which only earned me laughter in return. My phone started to buzz; I groaned and tried to push the irritating machine away. Louis picked it up and turned it off. Flashing me a grin before slipping it into his pocket. I shot him a grateful smile as Luce scrambled off my lap to join Frankie in her conversation with Niall.

“So I was uh wondering if you were doing anything for the rest of the day?” Louis questioned me, his eyes finding mine as he messed with his fringe. It was a nervous habit of his.

“Nothing at all. Why’s that?” I asked, leaning my head back on the couch, keeping my eyes trained on him.

“Well my mum brought my sisters down for the day while she visits an old friend and I said I would take them out shopping for the day.” His eyes left mine and glanced down at his lap. “So I was wondering, if you wanted to, you really don’t have to but maybe you could come with. They’re all girls so I don’t really know what shops to take them too and I think they would love to have an older girl there with them.”

“I would love to go Louis.” He looked up to meet my eyes quickly, a smile breaking across his face. Louis shouldn’t ever stop smiling.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.” I nodded humoring him. “When do we have to leave?”

“Well uh probably around now, if that’s okay? I don’t want to make my mum wait too long. They’re at my flat.”

“Yeah that’s cool. We can go now.” I nodded at him searching for my bag that I had placed near my feet.

“Okay, great.” Louis said jumping up from his seat, his presence practically radiating energy. Sometimes just standing in the same room as him was exhausting.

Eight pairs of eyes turned to us as I placed my bag over my shoulder.

“Where are you two going?” Niall voiced up, his eyes alight.

“I’m going to help Louis take his sisters shopping.” I said brightly moving towards the door.

“His sisters? So like you’re meeting his family?” Harry’s deep voice sounded after us. Louis hand guided me out the door before I could respond. The blush on Louis cheeks made me smile.

“So uh the girls don’t know you’re coming, obviously and they tend to get a little excited easily. Probably ask lots of nosy questions so just tell them to back off.” Louis told me as we climbed into his car.

“Hey Lou. Not that your car isn’t amazing to be in but you have four sisters right?” I paused as he nodded. “Right, how are they going to fit in here? Your car isn’t family friendly.” I gestured to the small, practically non-existent, back seat.

“I’ll switch cars with my mum.” I gasped at him dramatically.

“You’re going to let someone else drive your car?” I teased him as he rolled his eyes. “Can I drive it?”

Louis visibly stiffened before he looked over at me then back to the road.

“Do you even have your license?” He asked, clearly doubting that I had. I nodded and searched in my bag and pulling out my wallet to show him.

“Yep, got it just before I left home!” I exclaimed happily, waving the I.D around. It had been annoying that as I got my license I had travelled across the world without a car and instead got driven everywhere. I had been excited to finally start driving myself.

“I don’t know, maybe we should start off with something else.” Louis said slowly, not taking his eyes off the road.

“You don’t trust me.” I stated, glaring and crossing my arms across my chest. Louis made no motion to deny what I said. “I am offended Louis Tomlinson! How dare you judge my driving skills when you haven’t even seen them! I could drift better then Vin Diesel’s stunt driver for all you know!”

Louis scoff was quite loud as he turned suddenly onto a driveway. I glanced up to find five people waiting out front of an apartment complex. Two of the younger girls were running around animatedly, I could just see the screams when they saw our car.

“They’re a little energetic too.” Louis commented.

“Wonder where they get that from.” I replied sarcastically. Louis shot me a smirk before climbing out of the car, I joined him soon after.

I smiled instantly as Louis was surrounding by four loud and excited girls. He, by some weird talent, picked both twins up and placed them on opposite hips. The two older girls stood in front of him, expressions changing as they talked and talked trying to get their words over top of one another.

“Girls! Let your brother breathe.” Louis mum, stepped forward and instantly the girls stopped. Louis dropped the twins and wrapped his mum up in a hug.

Due to their lack of attention, the twins’ eyes were suddenly narrowed on me. The two older girls who actually looked quite alike soon noticed me to. I waited nervously by the car for Louis to introduce us.

“Lou, your friend.” Louis’ mum took a step back and nodded towards me. Louis eye roll was clear from where I stood. He stalked over and grabbed my hand tugging me towards everyone.

“Yes, yes I’m getting to that.” He stopped me in front everyone. I smiled around at them all, shifting nervously from all the eyes concentrated on me. “This is Annabelle. Belle this is everyone. Lottie, Fizzy and Daisy and Phoebe. And my Mum.” Louis announced them all proudly.

“You can call me Jay.” Louis mum said instantly smiling at me warmly. I could see that Louis was her son. They had the same nose and eyes although Jay’s hair was just darker than Louis’.

“You’re from that secret girl group! Louis posted you two on twitter before!” Fizzy suddenly announced loudly, pointing her finger right at me.

“Can you sing for us?” Phoebe asked me, tugging on my hand while her sister stood next to her shyly smiling up at me.

“Maybe another time girls.” Louis cut in before I could reply.

“Are you coming shopping with us today?” Lottie broke in, her eyes snapping between Louis and I.

“Yeah, if you girls are okay with that?” I asked her timidly. I didn’t want to cut in on their time with Louis. Lottie’s eyes snapped down to our still entwined hands. My cheeks warmed as I quickly pulled my hand out of Louis’.

“No, no it’s fine. It will be great to have another girl!” Lottie exclaimed, her smile widening. I would have believed her genuine if her eyes didn’t get the same spark that Louis’ did when he was planning something.

“Yeah, I’m sure you will be a better help than Lou! He’s horrible.” Fizzy shook her head at me as I laughed.

“He once told me that my hair looked good when I had a fringe.” Lottie frowned at me before shooting a glare towards Louis. He pouted back and shrugged.

“I’m sure it did look great.” I tried to reason, Lottie shook her head in protest.

“It didn’t. Trust me, I would burn all the photos if Mum would let me.” She muttered darkly, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Sorry to leave so suddenly, but Lou I really need to get going.” Jay moved forward to pull Louis into anther hug and said a quick goodbye to the girls.

“Nice to meet you Annabelle. I’m sure I’ll see you again.” She winked at me, her words leaving a small flutter in my stomach. I watched as she climbed into Louis car and peeled out of the driver, the tyres screeching.

Louis visibly paled; I couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction.

“Come on Lou. You said you would buy me a new paint brush.” Phoebe tugged on Louis hand impatiently and tried to pull him towards the mini-van parked to the side. I followed behind the other girls as Louis unlocked the car and everyone piled in.

The front passenger seat was left for me after Louis nudged Lottie into the back.

“Do you paint?” I asked Phoebe curiously after Louis had made sure everyone was buckled in and then shut the back doors. She smiled widely and nodded at me excitedly. I could see Daisy watching me shyly.

“And what do you do?” I asked her softly. Her eyes widened and she shifted in her seat, obviously shocked that I was talking to her. She opened her mouth and shut it a few times before taking a breath after Phoebe comfortingly placed a hand on her arm.

“I like to read.” She said quietly. I smiled and nodded encouragingly at her.

“Daisy is the best speller in her grade. Also has the highest reading level.” Louis told me, practically puffing out his chest in pride, before starting the car. Daisy nodded at Louis words, a blush spreading across her cheek.

“That’s amazing.” I nodded at her. “You know I absolutely love reading. My room back home is full of books. Sometimes I read more than one book at a time.” Daisy’s eyes widened with my words and her mouth fell open.

“Can we see them all?” Phoebe asked eagerly from next to her sister. She was practically bouncing in her seats. I frowned at them.

“Sorry but they’re all the way back home in Australia.” Both girls frowned at me.

“Lou can take us!” Daisy exclaimed suddenly, the loudest I had heard her so far. “He has a plane.”

I turned to Louis shocked; he shook his head but kept his eyes on the road.

“I don’t own a plane Daisy, I just use one a lot.” Daisy and Phoebe went back to frowning. “But maybe one day we can go see them.” I caught Lottie rolling her eyes in Louis direction.

“He spoils them, a lot.” She enlightened me.

“Hey! He spoils you too.” Phoebe instantly defended, her arms crossing over her chest. I turned to look at Louis who grinned sheepishly.

“I can imagine.” I murmured. Louis glanced towards me before looking back at the busy road, a smile spread across his features.

“Will you sing for us now Belle?” Phoebe’s voice echoed loudly through the car making me wince.

“Sure, but only if you promise to sing with me.” She nodded eagerly. I reached over and turned the dial so we could all clearly hear what song was on the radio.

“You sing too, Louis.” Daisy’s voice came over the music, the loudest I had heard her speak so far. Louis voiced his agreement.

“Do you know the lyrics to this song?” I asked Louis as Daisy and Phoebe immediately began singing loudly to Demi Lovato’s Heart Attack. Louis shot me an indulgent smile.

“Of course.” He replied snottily before joining loudly and horribly with the twins singing.

“SING BELLE!” Phoebe yelled and I automatically began singing the next line, not wanting to ignite the anger of a 9 year old.

-

“What size shoe are you?” I distractedly looked from Louis, helping the twins try on shoes, to a smirking Fizzy.

“Oh, like an 8.” I replied to her as she frowned down at the shoes we were standing in front of.

“These look two big.” She pointed at a size 8 and then towards my own feet.

“Oh right, um I think it’s like a 6 here. I’m an 8 back home.” I told her as she grabbed the 6 and handed it over to me. I barely glanced at the shoe before sliding it onto my foot.

“Doesn’t Louis have the male version of that?” I looked back down at my shoes before glancing between Lottie and Fizzy suspiciously. I had seen Louis wear Toms a lot like the pair I was wearing.

“You should get it.” Fizzy smiled innocently.

“My shout.” Louis appeared next to Lottie and looked down at my shoes approvingly.

“It’s fine Louis. I don’t need another pair of shoes, trust me.” I shook my head at him.

“I said my shout, give me the shoe.” He held his hand out stubbornly. I glared back and kept my foot planted heavily on the ground. He rolled his eyes and moved forward. My eyes widened as he bent over in front of me and wrapped a hand around my ankle before yanking my foot up and tugged on the shoe. I squealed in surprise, almost tipping over, and spread my hands out across his back trying to stay upright.

Lottie and Fizzy fell into laughter as Louis successfully pulled the shoe off and stepped back, making sure I was balanced first, before snatching the box and moving away.

“That was bodily harassment.” I yelled after Louis who ignored me and headed towards the checkout where a pile of boxes had been placed from the girls.

Lottie’s phone chimed, pulling our attention to her, her eyes lit up and she moved away, thumbs already furiously attacking her phone. I looked at Fizzy curiously.

“Boy.” She rolled her eyes and continued to look at the shoes closest to her. I looked down as Daisy tugged on my hand, her eyes pleading with mine. I crouched down to her level.

“I have to go to the toilet.”

“Me too.” Phoebe cut in, her voice a lot louder then her sisters. I looked over to see Louis waiting for the lady to place the boxes in bags.

“Come on, I’ll tell your bother and then I’ll take you.” I guided them both over towards Louis who smiled at us warmly. I couldn’t help but smile back; my smile was probably larger then necessary.

“They need to use the toilet.” I told Louis. “I’ll take them and meet you out the front.”

“Are you sure you don’t mind?” Louis asked, taking a step towards us. I waved him away and took both girls hands, moving towards the entrance of the shop. I had seen a toilet not far away when we first headed towards the shoe shop.

The girls were quick and loud, talking through the stalls to one another while I waited. They both soaped their hands a little too much and squealed in delight with the loud hand dryers. By the time I got them back out of the toilet there hands were definitely sparkling from their cleanliness.

A few flashes caught my attention and I paused slightly and saw some people further away, cameras facing towards us. I grabbed both of the girls hands and moved them quickly through the crowds of people and finally found Louis, Lottie and Fizzy. Lottie looking a lot grumpier then she was when we left. I thought they might have seen the paparazzi.

“Uh, people took photos of us when we came out of the toilet.” Louis looked surprised and looking in the direction we came from. He frowned slightly.

“They shouldn’t bother us.” He muttered. I frowned in return, Louis hadn’t known about the paparazzi so that was not what he was grumpy about. I looked to Fizzy for help but she stubbornly kept her eyes averted.

“Can we get lunch now?” Phoebe piped up. I almost sighed in relief, glad that the tension hadn’t fallen into an awkward silence. Louis plastered on a small noise and agreed with his younger sister.

We headed in the direction of the food court. Lottie fell behind, her feet clearly dragging as her eyes glared at everything, I highly doubted any paparazzi would even consider getting too close for fear of getting burned by her eyes alone.

“What happened?” I moved closer to Louis so no one else could hear. Louis sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, a scowl settled across his features. I almost laughed at how alike he and Lottie were.

“She’s been texting someone.” I nodded at Louis; this part was obvious. “Someone that was a boy.”

“Like a boyfriend.” I pushed Louis as he kept his eyes trained on the twins who happily lead us towards the food. He made a noise before nodding. I frowned and glanced back at Lottie before I realised.

“You did not actually get angry at her because she’s talking to a boy did you?” I pleaded with him, hoping to God that he hadn’t interfered. He threw me a look that obviously said ‘of course I did’. I sighed and deflated. “You’re an idiot.”

“She’s too young for boys.” He practically growled at me. I raised my eyebrows at him, Lottie scoffed from behind us; she could apparently hear our conversation.

“How old are you Lottie?” I asked over my shoulder.

“15.” She bit back. I shook my head and smacked Louis over the back of the head hoping to God that paparazzi hadn’t got a shot of that. I didn’t need to be abused by his fans for abusing him.

“Old enough to have a boyfriend Louis. Seriously.” I growled back at him, annoyed that he got angry with me. He began to protest but the twins approached pulling at Louis to tell him they wanted pizza.

Louis sighed and we entered the small pizza restaurant. Louis went to order. I watched Lottie for a moment while Fizzy determinedly tried to find something interesting outside.

“So what’s his name?” I asked her softly. She looked up at me surprised before a blushed spread across his cheeks.

“Jacob.” She admitted, a small smile forming over her face. She was a pretty girl who probably had just as much attitude as her brother.

“Ah. How did you meet?”

“We go to school together. He asked me to come watch his football game.” She straightened in her seat as her eyes lit up with happiness. I smiled widely at her.

“He’s 17.” Fizzy cut in, Lottie shot her a glare. My eyes widened and I glanced over to see Louis watching us, a serious look on his face.

“Mum knows and she’s okay with it, only if she gets to meet him.” Lottie immediately defended.

“You should really not tell your bother that little detail anytime soon.” I warned her. She nodded before frowning at me.

“Aren’t you only like 18?” I nodded at her. “So there’s like four years difference between you and Lou.” I choked on my own saliva; Fizzy clapped me on the back comfortingly.

“Your brother and I aren’t dating.” I defended quickly. Lottie clearly didn’t believe me.

“Do you really think that Louis would introduce you to us if you weren’t dating?” I opened my mouth before shutting it after a moment, not really having anything to say to Lottie.

“It was a couple months before we even met Eleanor.” Fizzy interjected.

“Eleanor was his ex, right?” I questioned them, not entirely sure if I recognized the name. They both nodded. I glanced from them to Louis who had begun walking over, obviously finished ordering and paying.

“Not a word to him.” I warned both girls. They smirked but mimed shutting their mouths. Louis sat down and Lottie began glaring again although there seemed to be less heat behind it now. More amusement as she stared at me.

Louis loud curse woke me up from my dozing as we headed home from the shopping trip. I straightened in my seat and stared in shock at the amount of people standing out front of the hotel. Security seemed to be only just holding back the amount of paparazzi and teenage girls. I reached into m pocket to grab my phone only to realise I didn’t have.

“Crap, Louis. You still have my phone.” I gestured wildly to his pocket. He quickly pulled it out while maneuvering into the car park of the building. Luckily everyone seemed too focused on the doors to pay attention to a car that was hardly popstar material.

My leg bounced as I waited impatiently for my phone to turn on and another minute for everything to load. I tried to ignore the Twitter and Facebook notifications knowing I would have to deal with that later. I had plenty of messages from friends and family back home and plenty of missed calls, a few from Jen as well. I ignored the messages from the girls and quickly called the first person I scrolled to.

“Why the hell haven’t you been answering?” Frankie shrieked through the phone making me jump in fright. There was noise and I could hear movement through the phone before Kate’s calmer voice greeted me.

“This is why I didn’t call Frankie, she freaks out too much.” I grumbled to Kate as Louis pulled into a park towards the back of the parking lot, where an overhead light had blown so we were mostly in the dark. I tried no too laugh or freak out about the opportune horror movie moment. Kate pulled me back to the conversation.

“Why weren’t you answering?” She asked me calmly.

“It was turned off after the boy’s Twitter announcement and I forgot to turn it back on. I’m sorry, but we’re in the car park now.” There was a pause as Kate repeated what I said to the other girls.

“So I guess you saw the people out front?”

“Kind hard to miss.” I frowned, I could feel Louis watching me intently.

“Well Luce has already told our security so they should be heading down to you now. You’re supposed to meet them at the elevator to the car park.

“Security.” I squeaked to her, feeling a little dazed by it all.

“Yeah, just come on up and we will explain everything to you okay?” I agreed and hung up the phone.

“Security is going to meet me at the elevator.” I motioned towards it before grabbing my bag. I looked over as Louis opened up his driver side door.

“You girls stay here, I’ll be back in a minute.” I tried to protest but Louis was already out of the car and shutting the door. I sighed before turning to the girls.

“You’ll come shopping with us again, right?” Phoebe pouted; I smiled at her sweetly.

“I’ll try love. You will have to ask your brother.” I bit my lip and looked towards Louis who stood with his back to us, his head moving from side to side; he looked paranoid.

“I’ll see you all later.” I smiled and waved to them all before climbing out of the car. I moved around to join Louis.

“You don’t have to walk me to the elevator, you know. I think I can do that part by myself.” The look Louis responded with flat out denied my protest. I sighed and fell into step next to him as we moved towards the elevator.

We stood there patiently waiting for security to arrive. Louis was oddly silent.

“I had fun today. Thanks for inviting me.” I smiled at Louis. He barely looked at me.

“It’s okay. The girls loved you.” He murmured eyes trained on the car entrance to the car park. I glanced back towards the girls in the car. I could barely see them in the dark corner. What they had told me earlier today began to replay in my head.

If Louis liked me enough to let me meet his sisters, and earlier then his ex-girlfriend did then I would have thought he would make a move by now. I certainly wasn’t going to stop him.

“Louis.” I said softly, taking a step forward and touching his arm. He looked at me quickly, his bright eyes piercing through mine. I stumbled over the next words I was going to say. My mouth and tongue wouldn’t cooperate to form words. Louis stayed silent until the ding of the elevator made him step back out of my reach. I frowned in confusion. Louis had never backed away from me.

I turned as the doors opened and two large men in black stepped out of the elevator.

“Miss Blake.” One of the guards greeted. “Mr. Tomlinson.” I smile politely as Louis waved lazily.

“I better go.” He started to step back his eyes not on mine but rather the wall behind me.

“Did you need an escort out?” The other guard offered. Louis shook his head.

“No one saw us come in.” He said before turning around and heading back towards the car. He didn’t look at me or even say goodbye. I resisted the urge to flip him off or call out. Instead I turned my back on him and stared towards the two guards.

The first one that talked looked between Louis and I, amused. I glared at him.

“I’m Geoffrey.” He introduced holding his hand out to shake; I took it. “This is Nate.” I shook the other guy’s hand. They were the same build and height. Geoffrey was clearly older than Nate, his hair greying while Nate had his hair shaved, his dark skinned head practically shining in the light.

“I will be your head of security from now on.” I looked at Geoffrey surprised. “You’ve been welcomed to the world of the famous, Miss Blake, you’re going to need us.” He gestured me into the elevator. “The girls will explain everything.”

I nodded at him slightly stunned. I had been gone for the day and when I came back we already had paparazzi and a security team.

“You can call me Annabelle.” I prompted him, smiling small. He nodded at me before straightening up and facing forwards. The elevators opened onto the lobby. Hardly anyone was there; I waved briefly at the lady behind the desk, Lorraine, who was here the first day I arrived. I got a glance of the large mass of people outside the large glass doors before my security ushered me into the elevators that went passed the floors. I stayed silent, briefly glancing at my phone at all the notifications again. I would have to call my parents soon; I already had two missed calls from them and about a hundred texts from Annalisa.

We arrived at our floor and I walked down the corridor to see two other guards stationed outside the door. I raised my eyebrows at Geoffrey.

“It won’t always be like this, just for now until everything calms down.” He explained. I nodded and the guards stepped aside, Geoffrey pushed his swipe card into the door and let me in before shutting it behind me.

I turned to see all four girls waiting in the foyer, eyes wide.

“Please tell me everything that happened while I was gone that would lead to this.” I gestured wildly to the door behind me where our security guards stood outside, emphasis on security guards. I had a feeling I was going to get an overload of information.
