Chapter 4

The next day, was when the training simulation Master Splinter had set up for me was to start. I rolled out of bed and ended up face-palming the floor. With my face.

You know, hitting it...with...my face. Ah, my genius is wasted on you.

I pushed myself up, intent on glaring at the wardrobe doors that towered over me, until I started giggling. My phone, that was tucked in my shorts waistband, started vibrating with Swedish House Mafia's Don't you worry child. It made me scream with laughter from the weird tickling until it dropped through my baggy shorts.

I started rolling on the floor with laughter, my face muffled by the carpet. This usually happened when I woke up early. It was better than screaming and ripping pillows.

When I'd stopped laughing, even though i was shaking with giggles, I made my way to the wardrobe. I grabbed some random shirt and sweats, and dug around at the top for a towel. I found one and then turned to face the small door, still in my pajamas.

Closing my eyes, I opened the door easily and pt a foot out. "OK, is anyone out here because I have a question!"

"I am." said a confident voice. I instantly knew who it was and when I could open my eyes, all I met was darkness. Again.

"Hey, um, do you guys know where the shower is? Well, you do cause...you know...it's your...I have no idea whether to call this a house or...a thing?" I heard Leo chuckle and down the corridor, a door flew open.

I heard Leo cough "April brought some of your...girly shampoo, for you. It's already in there. Oh, and even though we live in the sewers, we have functioning showers and water." we both chuckled at the small joke and I slipped into the bathroom, thanking him. I heard him jump the stairs.

Closing the door, I turned to the surprisingly clean bathroom. It's floors were immaculately white, with a spotless basin and toilet. it was only small, but a shower took up one side of the wall, opposite the toilet with a fluffy shower mat positioned in front of the sliding doors. I almost screamed with delight when I noticed Leo wasn't joking.

I was already in love with their bathroom.

Placing my towel on the top of the loo, I stripped my clothes off and put my phone on the sink. Thrift shop started playing on my phone when I turned the water dial. I almost burst out laughing when I heard it.

I started singing along to the lyrics, grinning.

But, then i started dancing, and dancing leads to slipping...

Ill tell McKenzie to add another sticker to my clumsiness chart.

'The Most clumsiest chart that's awesome ever!' If you couldn't tell, I named it!

Crawling out of the bottom of the shower, my hair washed, I wrapped a towel around me and limped towards the door. Placing a hand on the door, with the clothes hung around my arm, I grinned.

I was in a house, or thing, with about five boys and April wasn't here.

I was in a towel.

Wow. This was gonna be fun.

Cartwheeling out of the room, I grinned and tightened the grip on my towel. "Oh no, guys! I've forgotten where my room is!" I put a hand to my cheek in mock sadness and groaned. I heard someone come up the stairs.

"What the shell are you up too, k-OH CRAP!" I heard someone jump away from me and something land at the bottom of the stairs. I gasped and ran at the end of the corridor to the four small steps and when i looked, whoever was on the floor, was gone.

Damn, so close.

"What the shell were you thinking walking around a house in a towel with a bunch of men! You stupid kid!" ground out a voice from behind me. I glared at the darkness behind me, already accustomed to Raph's growing voice.

I raised an eyebrow. "Shell?" I gave a scoff. "Men? You guys sound my age, and Mikey sounds younger. So, yeah, I don't believe your balls have dropped yet." I heard another voice burst out laughing.

"Go Nyx!" yelled an energetic voice. I only smirked at the darkness, hearing Mikey bound up to me like a puppy. "No-one, not even April, says that to freaking Raph! Ever!" he yelled, and I could hear him jump about and suddenly, stopped. "Wait, are you in a towel?"

I finally turned my attention to where Mikey's voice was booming from. "All part of my evil plan." I started to laugh evilly when something swept beneath me. I landed with a yelp, feeling the glossy wood underneath my towel.

Thank god the towel stayed where it should have.

"All part of MY evil plan. Ha. Now, Mikey, there's the event of a water balloon incident of what happened when I woke up, mind running for a minute?" I heard a crack of knuckles above me and two sets of feet bound down the stairs at top speed, heading towards where I would assume the dojo.

I chuckled when i noticed that there were probably weapons in there.

Poor, soon-to-be-dead Mikey.

Skipping down the corridor with a happy grin, when I heard a voice. "Are you Mikey's evil double in girl form or something?"

I grinned and pushed the door open. "Maybe, maybe not. I'm just an awesome ninja." I put a finger to my lips. "Shh, Leo. Don't tell my mother." I merely grinned when I said that sentence, when something twisted inside of my gut, sharply. It clawed at my ribs, burnt my lungs and it had already exhausted me. But I only grinned.

"Hey bro." I heard Donnie perk up. Suddenly, a frightened scream burst out and I couldn't help but laugh. "Hey On-OH MY GOD, SHE'S IN A TOWEL!" Two sets of screaming around the house could be heard. Mikey's Pained ones and Leo's terrified little girly ones. I could only laugh at them.

"D-DONNIE! Don't do that!" pleaded Leo, and I recognized from the direction his voice was coming from, that he'd been so scared he either jumped out of the way or hid behind a girl. This realization only made me laugh more. "D-don't laugh! It's not funny!"

"S-sorry bro, but it i-is! Even Onyx is laughing!" choked out Donnie. He was laughing as hard as I was, maybe even more, at his brother's outburst.

"You guys are mean." muttered Leo, sounding like a little baby.

I turned to Leo. "Aw Leo, we're not mean! Just... eccentric." I heard Donnie chuckle. I put a leg through the rounded door to my room and turned. "And besides, being a girl, I think I'm the toughest ninja here."

"Wow, modest." muttered Leo jokingly, while Donnie only made a confused sound.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, when everyone was jumping around screaming, i was only stood there. Leo, you should s try out for opera!" Fully in my room, I poked my head of wet, black hair out, puffing a few strands out of my eyes. "Girls rule."

As I shut the door, I heard both boys stammer, "T-they do not!"

"You know they do!" I sang, fully closing the door and spinning the dial so no-one could get in.

--

After getting dressed, I slipped out of the room stealthily, crouching low to the floor. My hair, being so annoyingly long, swept the floor with me. A Kunai was in my hand, with about two more of them hooked on my fingers like talons.

Slipping my head around the corner of the small steps, I looked into the peaceful room. A paused video game was spluttering and fizzing on the television, the half-made robot I'd seen the other day now had another arm. No-one was in sight.

Well, from what I could see.

"Call out cheese if anyone's in here."

"Do I have too?" asked a joking voice and I only twirled the Kunai in my hand, the other two now safely hidden in my sleeve. "Cheese."

"Oh hey Leo! I had no idea it was you!" I gasped sarcastically, letting my mouth drop slowly for effect. I only heard him chuckle. "So, isn't there some training simulation I'm late for?"

I heard Leo pad over to me, telling me to close my eyes. "It's just so you don't see me, now, take my hand." I let my hand glide out of it's pocket. Almost instantly, two large gloved fingers traced my fingertips.

It kinda scared me to know that, even though I couldn't see him, he was stood in front of me in the light.

And his hands were massive.

Suddenly, a piece of fabric covered my eyes. I let out a protest before a hand rested on my shoulder. "Don't worry, this is actually part of the simulation. I'm not gonna hurt you."

"Girls rule."

I heard him start to splutter. "You-what-Why did you bring that up a-"

"Girls rule." I couldn't stop a smile from falling over my lips. I turned my head away, even though I couldn't see anything.

"They do not!"

"Girls." I turned to look where his voice was coming from, and smirked as the door to the dojo opened. "Rule."

I heard someone hit a mat hard, and a groan erupted from them. I chuckled at the sound and put a hand on my hip when I got dragged across the room. "Hey, I need that arm!"

"We-Leo, you look annoyed!" gasped Donnie, and beside him I could hear a rush of wind which indicated someone was running towards him. I heard a clang of metal against wood from where Donnie was stood, showing he didn't have anymore time to talk.

"Hey guys, I found the female Mikey." Leo moaned, making me giggle. He patted my shoulder and left me where I stood, when an energetic voice burst out behind me.

"Aw sweet! Is Nyx the female me!?" I heard someone slap him on the back of the head, signaling that it was a stupid question. Before I could answer, the rumbling sound of a wooden staff banging against the floor could be heard.

"It is time for your training simulation, Onyx Hamiki." Master Splinter's voice was powerful, rattling off the walls like a baby's rattle.

I heard the four boys wander off, distinctly hearing Raph and Mikey bicker silently. A presence of power appeared beside me. I turned towards him when he touched my shoulder and bowed in respect.

"The moral of this simulation is to out my sons into the light, because the light shows the ninja's true presence, while the shadows disguise it."

"Hai!" nodding my head in a a form of respect, I heard his staff bang on the wood, back to where he was before, and the soft thump of him placing himself on the floor could be heard.

"Begin."

Suddenly, someone whacked me on the shin. I gasped and grabbed my shin, falling to the floor. Letting out a hiss between my teeth, I stood up. "Sorry Onyx, i thought you were ready. I r-"

Before Donnie could finish what he was saying, my ears picked up where he was coming from and my foot snaked out, sweeping beneath him. I heard him let out a terrified gasp as he fell to the floor. Before he could recover, my hands grasped fabric and pulled the heavy object into the light.

"What! I was apologizing! That's so not fair!" moaned Donnie, but no-one answered, so his soft footsteps melted away in the dark.

Mikey, Raph and Leo were left, when I felt about two more bamboo sticks ram into my back, propelling me towards the floor. My hands shot out before me and I went into a handstand, pushing up and landing on my feet easily, when something hit the back of my legs.

"Wow, if only this was Mikey, I'd be playing this all over again!"

"Hey..."

It sent me back but my hands hit the floor, holding me up in a bridge. Going into a handstand again, I landed on the bamboo stick, and grabbing a fistful of clothes, I tugged whoever it was into the open at my feet.

"...Well done kid."

My eyebrows raised at the impressed voice of Raph, but I only felt him whack me on the head and stumble away, talking about a lucky shot for a girl.

Turning to the group again, a few minutes later, the bang of a walking stick could be heard, signalling that the simulation was finished. I waited for a few seconds, before I could take off the blind fold.

When I did, all I was met with was darkness, again.

With a sigh, I turned around, and as if on cue, Master Splinter stepped out from the darkness. He nodded his head to me and I bowed mine to him, before I heard a long breath fan out from behind me.

"Thank. God. I thought she was gonna kill me like Raph normally does. And Leo. Not so much Donnie." I heard someone get slapped again and heard Mikey whine. It made me giggle.

"Ha. See? Even Onyx thinks it's funny!" commented Raph, until the walking stick banged against the glossy floor of the dojo, making Raph go silent.

"That is enough, my sons, I'd like to talk to Onyx." his hand grasped my shoulder as he said, but I didn't shudder like normal. I shuddered even if my friends touched my shoulder, but this was new. I trusted this man...uh, rat.

I'm not stupid, that's just for the record!

I heard them each go and the dojo door being opened when they mostly padded upstairs. But one set of feet didn't follow.

Master Splinter let go of my shoulder and let me walk beside him, until we came to the weeping willow tree, it's long leaves sweeping the floor.

I watched him lower himself to the floor carefully, while I just plopped on it like pudding. His mouth twitched with a smile, and I grinned at him like crazy, earning another twitch of a smile.

"So," he said, placing his walking stick by his feet. "How is Oruki Hamiki?" His eyes lit up at the mention of his old friend, and I couldn't help but smile back.

"He's great!" I said, a smile on my face. "Though...he does complain wa-a-ay to much. He's said a lot about you though." The old rat's eyes lit up in mention of his friend remembering him.

He gave a small chuckle. "Yes, Oruki did complain far too much when we were young." Master Splinter's smile was bigger now, reminiscing about his young days.

"Wait," said a deep voice. I snapped my head to where it was coming from, and almost groaned out loud when I noticed it was dark. Again. This was getting so annoying. "Sensei, you knew HER Sensei?"

"I have a name."

"Yeah, whatever." said Raph, right off the bat. I pulled my tongue out at the darkness with a giggle, earning a grunt in return. "Do that again and I'll cut it off."

"Raphael," warned Master Splinter in a slow voice. I grinned happily, until his gaze snapped towards me. "Onyx."

My face flushed red and I heard both of them laugh. I pretended to be angry and turned my head, turning it so hard that my hair flipped in a circle around my head, creating a black halo.

"Which, reminds me," Master Splinter stood up, leaning on his walking stiff briefly, before looking more sturdy than the willow tree we were sat under. "Raphael, I want you to train Onyx and show her what you know. Be gentle, you get to rough with your brothers sometimes, especially Michelangelo."

I scowled when he said be gentle. I am not a doll.

I'm an awesome doll.

"But Sensei! Sh-"

"Raphael." snapped Master Splinter, walking towards the darkness. "There is no question. Have fun, children."

With that, Master Splinter walked off, his soft, easy footsteps padding down the dojo, and soon the dojo door opened and closed. I smiled into the darkness and said, "Let's play, Raphie."
