The Invisible Wall

Chapter 2

Charlie did his morning routine and headed out to the bus stop. But his clock was set back ten minutes early. So he'd have to wait 40 minutes, He normally waited 20 and with his clock set back 10 that's 30 minutes, but today's fight with his cloths ended wasting another 10 minutes. So that was 40 minutes. And after about 5 minutes Charlie got bored and started to walk up and down his street. He stared into the wooded area, so many dark green and light green trees, the tall bushes and all the weird noises that could be heard from within, without even trying to Charlie started to walk into the woods. Behind him the warm sun left and it was a dark blue and black, the trees blocking out the sunlight. Charlie continued threw the wooded area and smiled with white teeth and wide brown eyes. Never had he seen such a place. Full of trees and rocks and noises and animals and so many things to discover. Charlie was an adventurer. And exploring this place was his dream finally coming true.

As Charlie walked threw the woods, his mind in awe and his eyes looking around at everything there was to see, a bright light, the only light, caught his eye, he started to run to it, his mouth open with a grin so wide it could swallow a horse. His mind raced with ideas and images of finding a castle or a tunnel that would lead to a under ground lake with treasures, or even a land full of evil beasts needing to be slayed.
"or maybe a princess needing to be saved!"
Charlie shouted out in his excitment.
As Charlie reached the light, he stopped dead in his tracks. He had reached the other side of the forest. No castles, tunnels, treasure, beast or princesses. Insted everything was cut clean and it was nothing more then a opened feild. But what made him stop wasn't the unnatural clean cut of the trees or his disapointment, But the little girl a few yards in front of him. There weren't any girls at his school. Only boys. The girl school was down the road and the boys and girls were never to interact with each other until there were 16 and (Unless brother and sister)only on big special parties and such . And seeing this girl was amazing to him, her out in the open and no where close to a school or house. Then again, nor was he. Charlie was confused , he didn't understand girls or what they would be doing in the woods. As told, girls played with dolls and wore dresses and had tea parties with there stuffed animals and played doctor and house with there brothers and sisters and they never wanted to get dirty or play sports and they never went adventuring or exploring, they read, sow, garden, pick flowers, knit and sing. That's what the school told there boys. And that's what Charlie was to believe. The little girl was playing with some lady bugs as far as he could tell and was drawing on some paper with a bunch of brightly coloured markers. Charlie hid in a bush and watched her. He didn't hear anything and thought maybe his mind was playing tricks on him, after a while Charlie said
"Hello?"
The little girl didn't even flinch. Charlie got out of the bush and took a few steps closer to her
"Helllllloooo?"
He said louder. The girl didn't seem to notice him at all. This made Charlie get mad. He was being ignored and that was rude (as his mother had told him) so Charlie got up and started to walk to her.
"Hey!"

*THUD*

Charlie feel to the ground. He had bumped into something,it was hard and it hurt, when Charlie looked up he saw nothing. The little girl was now looking at him. Charlie's heart stopped beating. His hands touched something out in front of him. But he could not see it. He couldn't push it or pull it or even grab onto it. In a split second the thing in his way became a transparent like wall. It looked orange and yellow, so faint, it was like looking threw a musty window, it felt like plexigalss or durable plastic. After a minute or so Charlie knew what was in front of him. There was a wall that stood in front of Charlie. An Invisible wall. Charlie stepped back and rubbed his head. The little girl was staring at him, giggling and smiling. In his daze Charlie stood up and placed his hands on the wall again, the little girl did the same. Her mouth moved but no words came out
"I can't hear you!" Charlie shouted
The little girl frowned and scratched her head. After a few minutes of trying to talk to her the little girl ran over to her markers and picked up a red one. She uncapped it and started to draw on the wall
"Hello" she wrote "I cannot hear you"
Charlie saw the words and could read them with ease. Most six year olds could not read as well as Charlie or his few friends. Charlie opened his back pack and dumped everything out. Sorting threw his pencil pouch he found a black marker.
"I can't either"
The girl smiled
"What is this...?" Charlie wrote
"It's a wall"
"I can't see it"
"That's because it's Invisible!"
The little girl drew a smiley face next to it. Charlie sat on the ground and frowned. The first girl he ever talked to and he coudlnt even here her.
]What's your name?" The little girl wrote
"My names Charlie"
The little girl stuck her tongue out and smiled
"Hi Charlie, My names Mary"
