Model Behavior

Moira.

Harry was off the stage the second Louis dismissed the models and saw the girl he had had his eye on earlier was still packing up the lenses and cameras. He grinned as he made his way over to her, watching as she fumbled a bit and had to keep pushing her glasses up her nose. She had no idea she was being approached by one of the most sought after models in the business until he tapped her on the shoulder causing her to spin around and nearly drop the camera in her hands.

“Easy, love.” He said, easily catching it before it shattered to the ground. She was even more beautiful up close with her big, brown doe eyes and perfectly pouty lips that were the perfect shade of natural pink. Her long lashes were without makeup and he couldn't remember ever seeing a girl not coated in the stuff. He thought she looked flawless and he nearly didn't know what to say next to her.

Moira looked up, pushing her glasses up to get a better look at him. She was nearly blind without them and he had been just a blurry figure until she righted them. She flushed when she saw the most beautiful man she had ever laid eyes on smiling down at her with a wide grin and dimples. She knew who he was – in theory – she had seen those bright green eyes and curly mop of hair on billboards and on magazines and in commercials but she didn’t know his name nor did she know anything about him. All she knew was that he was staring at her and she had completely forgotten the English language.

“I’m Harry. What’s your name, darling?” He asked, finally finding his voice again.

“Um, I – uh, I’m …” She took the camera from her hands, shocking herself when her skin met his. “I have to go.” She mumbled, putting the camera in the bag and grabbing it and the case of lenses. She struggled to carry them both to Niall, but she couldn’t stand to be next to someone to gorgeous. She didn’t know why he was talking to her in the first place.

Harry was no quitter. He set off after her and took the case of lenses, the heavier of the two bags. “Not much of a talker? That’s all right. I talk enough for the both of us.” He joked. “Or is it you just don’t want to talk to me? Have a thing with a models?”

“What? No. I – I don’t … Models are … they’re fine.”

“So is it just me, then?”

“No. I d-don’t know you.”

“I told you … my name is Harry.” He stopped and turned to the slender girl and put his hand out.

She had just reached her hand out when a voice distracted her. “Moira! There you are. Oh, you didn’t have to bring them over.” Niall said with a kind smile then saw that Harry was staring at the brunette. “Harry.”

“Hello again, Niall. Nice to see you.” Harry said, breaking his gaze from Moira to shake hands with the blonde. They had worked together a few times before and had formed a friendship.

“You, as well. I see you’ve met my assistant, Moira.”

“I was about to, yes.” Harry sent another smirk at the blushing girl then gave the case over to Niall. “I suppose I’ll be seeing you two around. Pleasure to meet you, Moira.” He grabbed her hand and gently kissed the back of it before walking away.

“So … Harry?” Niall teased, walking Moira over to another one of the tents to give her a better tour of the grounds.

“What?” She flushed even darker. “No, I … he was just helping me …”

“Relax, it’s all right. He’s a nice guy. Not like the other male models.”

“I wasn’t – he just came over …”

“Moira, you have got to loosen up a bit.” He joked, shaking her shoulder and laughing. “You could do a lot worse than him.”

“He’s a model.”

“One of the biggest right now. I wonder how many strings Louis had to pull to get him. Just about everyone here wanted him in their show.”

“You know him well? I mean, you’re, um …”

“Yes, I do.” Setting down their cases Niall smiled at her. “What would you like to know?”

“Oh, I …” Moira was going to say she didn’t want to know anything about him – men that beautiful were dangerous and nothing more. But there was something about Harry. He didn’t even look as the half-naked models walked by them, keeping his eyes solely on her, and he seemed so adorably genuine in wanting to know her. He even ran after her which was something no boy had ever done in her life. She couldn’t fight her curiosity. “Does he, you know, date a lot of models?”

“Actually, he’s never dated any of them as far as I know. The paparazzi have only caught him with one girl and that’s his sister.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, not like he doesn’t get offers.” His phone began to ring and he chuckled answering it. “Yes? All right … yes … Sure. See you tomorrow.” He hung up and looked at Moira. “You have a breakfast date tomorrow at the bakery across the street.”

“What? No, I can’t go … he’s so – and I’m – I …”

“He’s just another guy and he really wants to get to know you. Give him a chance, Moira. You never know what could happen.”

Moira did though. Despite her mother’s efforts to always get her to put herself out there more, she was closed up and not used to the attention of men but she had heard stories and seen movies and men like Harry did not stick around with girls like Moira. She was plain when he spent his days around the most beautiful women in the world. Her apprehension stemmed from her self-consciousness completely and she didn’t know how to qualm her fears.

“You’ll be fine. You’re the only girl he’s ever tracked down through me for a date.” Niall joked, putting his arm around her shoulders and giving her a comforting hug.
