Peewee Hockey

Chapter Two.

I have never laughed so much in my life. This guy was amazing and perfect and hilarious but I still don’t understand why he’s giving me attention? Out of all the girls in this arena, why me? I could feel all the stares from the girls around me, even glares, but still I didn’t understand why.

“Can I ask you something?” I finally whispered and glanced over to Jordan.

“Yeah, sure” he said, flashing that adorable gap-toothed smile.

“Why are all these girls staring at you?” I whispered as I leaned closer and motioned to the crowd of girls around. Jordan chuckled and blushed a little bit. I couldn’t help but smile at that. He was so freaking cute.

“You don’t know who I am?” he whispered back, leaning in to close the space between us. I looked up at him with a little confusion showing on my face and I shook my head.

“No, should I?” I whispered raising an eyebrow.

“Well no” he laughed and shook his head. “But my names Jordan eberle. And I play for the Edmonton Oilers” he informed me with a blush. My eyes instantly widened and I moved away from him. What? He’s famous? I suddenly felt myself getting so self-conscious that I pulled his jacket I was wearing closed and I slouched in my spot.

“Hey, it’s no big deal!” Jordan quickly whispered and I felt him take my hand in his.

“No big deal?” I whispered looking at him shocked. “You’re famous! Why are you even wasting your time talking to me?” I groaned as I pulled my hand away and tucked it beneath my arm.

“I’m not famous!” Jordan groaned. “And I’m not wasting my time! I want to get to know you” he whispered the last part and moved closer again.

I couldn’t help but laugh at that one. “Thanks for the jacket” I mumbled as I got up and dropped his jacket into his arms. I quickly walked away, but not after hearing him call out my name almost five times. I groaned as I made my way down to the locker room and stood to the side. The buzzer just sound and it usually takes Jason about twenty minutes to get changed and out of there. Hopefully Jordan will stay away during that time.

I waited impatiently and all I could hear was “I want to get to know you” running through my mind over and over again. Why would and NHL player want to get to know me? I’ve never even had a boyfriend. Is this a joke? Is it supposed to be funny? Something to take out to make his teammates laugh. Either way I’m not having any of it. No way, no how.

Jason finally came out, faster than usual.

“You were talking to Jordan Eberle, Megan! I want to meet him!” he quickly blurts out and I can see he’s still out of breath from his game.

“No I wasn’t” I lie and grab his bag from him.

“Yes you were! We all saw you! Come on, I wanna meet him!” he whined and started stomping his feet like a toddler.

“I don’t know him, now let’s go!” I snapped a bit, surprising him and myself. He glared at me and pushed passed me before storming towards the car.

I couldn’t help but sigh because I hate being like that to him. Its bad enough mom and dad don’t give him attention; I don’t need to add to his frustration. I followed behind him and I almost cursed out loud when I heard someone calling my name. Jason quickly turned his head and gasped when he saw Jordan jogging towards us.

Jason rushed over to him. “Hi!” he gasped and admired him with wide eyes.

“Hey, bud. I’m Jordan” he smiled and extended his hand. “What’s your name?”

“I’m Jason!” he gasped. “Your one of my favorite players! You’re so good! I watch every game! Well until I have to go to bed” he groaned the last part. I found myself glaring in Jordan’s direction but my glare softened when I saw how good he was with my baby brother.

He ended up signing his hat and his jersey and I was forced to take a picture of them on my phone.

“Okay, time to go” I said tugging on Jason’s jersey a little. Jason let out a whine and waved goodbye.

“Wait! I wanted to talk to you!” Jordan quickly said as he grabbed onto my arm with a gentle touch.

“We have to go” I said shrugging his hand away and starting my walk again.

“Come on! Can’t I at least get your number?” Jordan groaned and followed. This guy is adamant, I give him that. And if I weren’t in such a pissy, self-conscious mood, I may have even found it cute.

“I don’t have a phone” I shrugged as I unlocked the car door.

“Yes you do!” Jason butt in and I quickly shot him a glare.

“No, I don’t, Jason” I mumbled through gritted teeth. He looked at me confused and then turned to Jordan.

“I memorized it in case of an emergency” he smiled proudly and told Jordan my number.

Jordan smirked a bit as he quickly typed it in his phone.

“Thanks bud” he smiled and ruffled my brother’s hair.

I glared at them both and got in my car silently. Jason waved goodbye again and I made sure to spend the ride home scolding him.

“I don’t know why you’re being so cranky! He’s famous! Oh, maybe you’ll date him and then get married and he can get me into the NHL!” Jason gasped. I couldn’t help but giggle a bit. I can never stay mad at this kid.

A few days have passed and I completely forgot about the encounter at the game. I was sitting in the living room, watching a movie with Jason when my phone started ringing. Jason quickly grabbed it, assuming it was mom or dad.

“Hello! Who? Oh hi! Yeah she’s here. Why?” I listened in as he talked. I giggled a bit and he finally handed me my phone.

“Hello?” I said with a mouthful of popcorn.

“Hey, it’s Jordan.”

I groaned.

“I was wondering if you and Jason would like to come to the game this Friday?” he asked. By now Jason’s ear was pressed up against the other side of the phone.

“Yes!” he quickly yelled, making Jordan laugh.

“Okay, I’ll see you then. Just go to the front and tell them your names” he said and I could hear the smile in his voice.
