Train Sparks

Described As Clouds: Chapter 2- Train Sparks (Avery)

Apollo, Sierra and I stared at the train that collided with the Bakery down at Town Square, the rubble and debris was everywhere. How did the train come off the tracks? How come Apollo and I didn't hear the train crash into the Bakery? The police was interviewing Mr. Pierre, the owner of the bakery. He was French, so I didn't know what he was saying: "cela est impossible! le train est sorti de nulle part. Je pourrais mort dans mon propre magasin. Je suis fermement appliquer une enquĂȘte plus approfondie de cette terrible incedent terrible."

Half of the train was inside the Bakery, while the other half was hanging dangerously out, but it was guarded by yellow police tape. Flashing red and blue lights blinded me; I turned my face into Apollo's arm. The 3 of us sat in silence. What could we think of this? What would happen to the bakery and Mr. Pierre? We all went home, being very optimistic of the future.

The next morning started off normal.

I brushed my teeth, changed my clothes, fixed my bed, kissed my mother goodbye and met Apollo outside the Bakery. Then the morning became strange.

The train was no longer there.

"What happened to the train?" I asked Apollo, who was wearing his usual clothes- black jeans, a slightly darkened white t-shirt and his ash colored scarf, which looked great with his messy, uneven hair.

"I don't know. The police tried to find evidence from footage taken, but so far they found out that the camera was sabotaged." Apollo stared at the train debris. He loved mystery. His dream job was to be a reporter, though.

"Sabotaged?"

"The glass lens was broken and the film was ripped off at the part when the train went missing."

We stood there silent for a couple of minutes, letting the gentle wind blow through our hair. Then I completely changed the subject. I asked a question that caught Apollo's attention.

"Apollo, when will we finish our date?" He turned his head slightly towards me, gave me a reassuring look, and then gazed toward the sky. "I was thinking that we could finish our date tonight." He said calmly. Although he was calm, I was extremely glad. I loved sharing moments with him. I jumped up and down very slightly and kissed Apollo. That made Apollo smile. Just then, Duke came out from inside the bakery.

"Hey, Apollo! Avery!" Duke said, greeting Apollo cheerfully.

"Dude, where have you been?" Apollo said, greeting him back.

"At the train station. Hey, speaking of the train station, can you meet me down there tonight? Sierra's coming too."

"I wish I could, but I have my date with Avery." Apollo made it apparent to Duke that he also liked spending time with me.

"Didn't you already have your date last night?"

"No."

"Well, it's okay, you don't have to come." Duke said that as if he didn't care. But Apollo and I knew Duke. He once proclaimed that nothing is at its best without a best friend. I didn't want to get in the way of their friendship, so I suggested an idea.

"What if we postpone our date to another day?" I said which obviously shocked Apollo.

"But Avery-"

"It's okay, Apollo. Let's go to the train station tonight." I waited for Apollo's response to this. He finally said: "Is this what you really want, Avery?"

"Yes."

"This won't make you angry at me?"

"Of course not."

"Well, I guess we're going to the train station tonight."

It was just the four of us, alone. Duke was excited and anxious, but he wouldn't tell us of what. We waited there for 2 hours. I fell asleep on Apollo's lap on the bench. Finally, after waiting for what seemed like to be forever, Duke showed us what he was so anxious over. A train.

The same train that crashed into the Bakery.
