Eternal Airen

One More Letter

Hakuron, my love,

I still remember the first day we met. It was late at night when your strong hand surrounded my mouth stopping me from screaming and I slapped you, scared as I was. That fateful night was the first time I saw the dragon mark on your temple. I was afraid at that time, thinking you would kill me but you kissed me instead, silencing me. You threatened me, saying you’d take me right there if I dared to scream and your cold eyes sent shivers down my spine.

When the men chasing you left, I was free to leave but seeing your arm bleeding stopped me from doing so and I couldn’t leave you. Tearing one long sleeve of my dress, I tied it around your arm, putting pressure on your wound. You took a bath in my house and then I treated your wounds. That very same night you gave me one of your smiles and we shared a kiss, my first kiss. When I woke up, you had left and I thought I’d never see you again. I thought you were a dream but the dragon bell left behind told me otherwise.

Then we met again when your men kidnapped me. We were in your airplane flying to Hong Kong. You showed me parts of your world which was so different from mine and I tried to embrace it with my small hands. You showed me the best night view from your mansion and then suddenly I realized how out of my reach you were. You took me to Hong Kong where I knew no one else other than you and I couldn’t help but be captivated by you but then again I knew I was captivated from the first time we met. From the moment my eyes studied your handsome face and your eyes looked deeply into mine making me keep my mouth shut. That night you dressed me in an expensive dress and took me to a party, the first party I had ever gone to. Even now that I think about it, you took all my firsts and I hadn’t even realized it back then.

I woke up from my heavenly dream cruelly when I realized who you were and what you did. I was attracted to a mafia leader who killed people and I had no one else but you there. The thought terrified me but I still tried to get away from you, the result being I almost had my virginity taken by others before you saved me. You saved me and I couldn’t hold back anymore. I knew I shouldn’t have fallen in love with you but I did. I fell and fell in love with you harder as time went by.

We had our ups and downs but in the end I succeeded in making your cold heart which never loved another person mine. I warmed your heart like you warmed mine and took your everything in, as you did. I loved you unconditionally and honestly I still do…I never stopped. Your heart’s hand was holding tightly my heart’s hand and no one other than death was able to tear us apart. My pure innocent self, had managed to accept you for who you were, only to lose you on our wedding day. The day that was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives became the one I hated the most.

I’ll never be able to forget you for as long as I live and even when I die, I’ll search for you in Heaven and Hell till I can be with you. I wish when the time comes, I’ll have the strength to find you and be with you again. Living without your love surrounding my kind heart is harder than I imagined and the only love I can accept is the friendly kind of love. The friends you left behind are the only friends I have other than my family and Haku. Haku is the exact copy of you and you could even have been twins but I know he’s not you. He can’t make me feel like you did and he’ll never be you. Even if his name starts with the same letter as yours and his face and body look the same, he’ll never be able to be you. His kind of love is different from the one you had for me…from the one we shared.

You bound my heart with yours and I can’t love another man. It’s been ten years since you died my love and that’s another letter I write to you trying to sate my hunger for you. That’s another letter that I’ll keep under my bed with my love for you and our memories described in it. I don’t think words can even grasp the love we shared but I still feel the need to write my feelings for you…for us, down on paper. I will forever be your only airen and you will forever be my only lover.

You took all my firsts as well as my heart and I would happily have joined you in death if you had wanted me to. Even now after so many years I still wonder, do you watch me from up there? Are you waiting for me to join you in death? Is my voice reaching your ears even though I’m still alive as you wanted me to be? I don’t know…but the only thing I know is that when the time comes, our souls will be joined yet again, to love one another fully, completely, unconditionally. Because our kind of love, is the love, that binds two hearts forever and even in death. Our kind of love is the love which even Heaven and Hell can’t tear apart because it’s not just our hearts that are connected but our souls as well. Our kind of love is the love which will stay alive eternally.

Forever yours, Kurumi.
