Michael embraces Diana with affection that I will never get from him. No matter how much I hate to see them together like that, I don't look away. He just doesn't know the depth of my crush on him.
"I have a surprise for you later babe," he says to her. I know it's rude to eavesdrop but I can't help myself.
Dee, Diana's nickname, squeals and kisses him. I roll my eyes with pure hatred. There isn't anything to hate about her except for the fact that Mikey chose her over me. I clench my fists as I sit down.
A hand slowly pulls me down and I look to my left. "Oh god, Ella. Stop that. You look like some retarded psychopath," Kiara mutters.
"What!? It's not my fault I have a huge crush on him and now he's gonna freaking propose to that thing he calls a girlfriend. Michael said he loves her." My mouth keeps on tumbling out stupid words and sentences. "Ugh. She's so hateable."
Kiara laughs at my frustration. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure he'll reconsider since you look so pretty in that dress."
I look down and smile a bit. "I do look pretty sexy aye?"
After the moments of laughter and joking around, memories reel back in. It's kinda my fault for letting him go but I was scared. Sh*t scared that once he knew I like him and he doesn't feel the same way, then he wouldn't be friends anymore. The people who knows I have like him said that how could he say no to a sassy, cute and funny girl like me. But those are also reasons as to why a girl like me could fall in love.
Wow, I just said it. I love him. Not much of a surprise.
A few hours into the party, Michael demands for everyone to be quiet for a few minutes. My heart pounds as I stare at him, my eyes glistened with silent tears. No. Don't effing cry for him Ella. Don't.
His hand is holding tight onto something. It's the ring. If I act now I won't regret anything later. Even if he doesn't accept me, at least I let out the feelings I have for him. Kiara surprises me by saying, "Go for it."
Michael starts to talk: "Dee I know you really love me and we've had a good relationship." I swallow a huge ball in my throat. Screw this. "And I just wanna say something.."
As I step forward, his next words stop me: "I can't marry you." Diana's expression surprises me completely. She is shocked, yes, but underneath that she is calm. "I know both our parents will be so mad at me but I love someone else."
Dee smiles. "Oh god Michael. I never though you'd say that!" She hugs him tight then stands there. Michael doesn't hesitate as he runs to me.
"Mikey? What do you want?" I ask him. I'm guessing he's gonna ask me for some advice about this girl he loves so much. Another surprise comes to me when he slowly kneels down and gives me a weak smile.
"Is it okay if I say I want you?" I laugh while tears of joy trail down my cheek.
"Yes."
