Prologue
When I was young and in grade school, I had made something for a girl who was very dear to my heart. It was a necklace which was very simple and very plain with a tiny key interwoven into it. The day I gave it to her, she asked me what the importance of the key was. I remember just smiling to her brightly, hugging her tightly in my arms, and saying, “You should know the answer to that question already, Sweetheart. But whatever you do, don’t ever lose it.”
