Wild at Heart

She would meet him at the swimming hole. They would sit in the shade, underneath a tree and, at that moment, everything felt fine.
She would kick back barefoot, leaning against him as he strummed in his guitar, making the day drift on by like a slow parade and the world was full of music, dreams and lovers.
On the ferries wheel he would take her hand; the long, slow dance underneath the moon making her pray that the night wouldn’t end too soon. The sun would go down and the barbecue would light while the radio played the summer hit.
“I love you.” The green-eyed boy with the baseball tan whispered at her, making her melt into his arms. She wished that those days would last forever.


But, of course, they didn’t, and the promises he had made her were all forgotten when he left without saying goodbye. Now, ten years later, he had come into her life again, but this time he had brought someone along with him.
