You'd Be My Sun; You'd Be My Light

Better Be Nice

Throughout the whole week, I developed this tunnel vision… I wasn’t concerned about anything other than this trip to Disneyland! By the end of the week, everything was planned! We just had to make it there! I was so excited! All of us were getting up early and road tripping to Anaheim tomorrow morning!

“I can’t wait!” I squealed once Jake walked into the living room to join me on the couch.

“You’ve been saying that everyday,” he chuckled.

“But I’m excited!” he just didn’t get it! “If you’re going to be a party pooper, you can stay home.”

“I’m just worried about your ankle,” he sighed.

“I’ll be fine! The doctor said I can wear a boot now, so I don’t need crutches,” I told him.

“But you shouldn’t be on it all day,” he just wouldn’t stop.

“I’ll be fine.”

He just looked at me with that look that just screamed ‘oh, mhm. Right. Don’t come crying to me when you want to cut your foot off’. But it’s going to be fine! Between my fancy boot I got and my pain killers, I’ll be… fine… or should be.

“But we have a mission on this trip,” I changed subjects.

“… What?” he seemed a little apprehensive to ask.

“Hannah and Wil…”

“Yeah…”

“They need to get together,” I was blunt.

“But what if they don’t want to be together?”

“Will you just go along with it?!” I groaned.

“But what if Hannah doesn’t like Wil like that?”

“She does.”

“And you know how?”

“She’s my best friend. I know everything about her.”

“Right,” he snickered.

“We should say we’re all going out for dinner the first night and then just bail so they’re together!” I nearly squealed. It was genius!

“They’d be pissed,” he still chuckled.

“More of the reason to do it!”

“And what would we do?”

“… Go somewhere else?”

“Like… back to the hotel?”

“If that’s where you wanted to go…”

“Mhm,” he snickered, unable to keep the little smirk from his face.

“Oh my god, Jake,” I gave him a good shove.

“What?” he laughed this time.

“You are going to behave on this trip.”

“But I don’t wanna,” he whined and lay across the couch so that he could hook his arms around me.

“You’re gonna,” I replied.

He went on to mumble something, but it was inaudible. I just giggled and relaxed against his chest. He’s such a cute thing when he’s all pouty though. While the two of us were lying here, my phone went off. With it on the coffee table, I reached over it and saw that it was Hannah.

“Speak of the devil…” I couldn’t help but tease as I answered.

“I don’t want to know…”

“It wasn’t bad,” Jake spoke loud enough for her to hear.

“You and Jake were talking about me?” she whined.

“I was talking about you. He was talking about Wil,” I corrected her.

“Oh that’s just lovely,” she mumbled.

“You excited for tomorrow?!” I changed subjects.

“I guess,” she huffed.

“That doesn’t sound very excited,” I pouted.

“I just… this whole Wil thing. I don’t know…”

“It’ll be fine!” I encouraged her. “If you don’t want to be around him, we can send him and Jake off somewhere. I’m sure they’ll be able to find something to do.”

“Hey!” Jake spoke up.

“You and Jake won’t be able to stay away from each other! Wil and I are just the third and fourth wheel.”

“That’s so not true!”

“It so is!” she said… but she was laughing now.

“Well, you and I can party it up in the backseat while Jake’s driving and his turkey sandwich friend is in the passenger seat,” I told her.

“Team turkey sammich!” Jake chanted.

“Oh dear lord,” I couldn’t help but giggle.

“That’s your man…” Hannah was laughing once more.

“I know… but he’s cute,” I cooed while reaching over and pinching his cheek.

“See! Even on the phone I feel like a third wheel!” she bickered.

“It won’t happen during our Disney adventure! I promise!”

“Oh… sure.”

“You’ll see! When you get here in the morning Jake and I will have like a three foot barrier between each other.”

“Just don’t be a smartass when Wil’s there,” she sighed.

“Would I do such a thing?”

“YES!”

“I would not!”

“You so would!”

“I promise I won’t.”

“You better,” she muttered.

After this, our bickering stopped. She then went on to tell me that she was excited to go. It was just Wil going kind of has her nervous now. And of course I held my tongue in telling her it was because she likes him. I felt the same way with Jake before we got together! Everything we did around each other made me feel uneasy. It’s a little different circumstance, but still!

Once we were off the phone, I placed mine back onto the table and let out a sigh. It was going to be so hard not to be a smartass once Hannah and Wil got here in the morning…

“You better be nice,” Jake knew exactly what I was thinking.

“I will be!” I shot at him.

That little smirk came back over him like he wasn’t believing one word I said. Whatever. I’ll be nice… ish! A little nudge their way wouldn’t hurt anything… right? Before Jake could say anything else though, I told him that I needed to get to bed. I wasn’t going to wake up on time in the morning if I didn’t. But of course Jake had other plans…

Just as I was taking the first step, he comes up behind me and scoops me up. Kind of normal… But he wasn’t even to the top of the stairs before he pressed his lips against my neck. Um… no! Sleep! That’s what we’re doing tonight. If… anything else happens, I’m going to over sleep! That can’t happen! I need to be up and ready before Wil or Hannah get here in the morning… not tangled in the sheets with Jake! But… he’s pretty persuasive… How could I turn my boyfriend down?
