If You Say So
Once Hannah went off to try and solve this whole parent situation, it got me thinking about Jake and I’s little… predicament…
“What?” he asked me since I was looking at him.
“Do your… parents know… about her?” I asked with my hands on my stomach.
“My mom does…” he answered. I nodded my head in response. I guess that’s… good. I don’t know why he wouldn’t tell his dad. “Why?” he went on to ask since I never said anything.
“I was just wondering,” I shrugged.
“I tell my mom everything.” The corner of his lips curled into a small smile as he spoke and he moved closer to me so that he could put an arm around me.
“So… She knows how you really feel about me?” I couldn’t help but poke.
“Yes,” he chuckled.
“Should give her a call some time…” I teased.
“What are you talking about? You know I love you,” he replied and placed his head on my shoulder while his other hand came to my stomach, resting next to mine.
I stayed silent as he had a moment with our little girl as she kicked from his touch. He smiled and nuzzled more into my shoulder.
"I told my mom about you the first day I met you," he started up again once our baby's movements stopped.
"No you didn't..." I giggled at the thought.
"I did. I told her I met a wonderful girl… but she rides too,” he told me.
“What did that have to do with anything?” I wrinkled my brow up at him.
“You friendzoned me right off the bat,” he chuckled.
“Well! Most guys in your position don’t want a chick that rides too,” I told him.
“That’s not true…” he sent me a look.
I just narrowed my gaze towards him. “All of you want the hot chick on your arm. Don’t even try and lie to me,” I added.
“But I got that,” he countered and kissed my cheek.
“I don’t see how I can be hot with…”
“Just because you’re pregnant, doesn’t mean I find you any less attractive,” he replied and pulled me closer to him. “I love you… and our little girl,” he added, speaking softly before he leaned in and pressed his lips to my cheek.
“Did you tell your mom that?” I couldn’t help but giggle as I asked.
“Yes,” he chuckled, “And she told me I needed to marry you before you got tired of my shit.”
His words made me laugh more and relax against his chest. As my head rested there, he ran his long fingers through my hair, putting me more at ease. I didn’t think I would be feeling this way at this race. Was I… actually in a good mood? This is… new. I like it a whole lot better though!
“I love you,” I told him while rubbing at his arm.
“It’s nice to hear you say it… and actually mean it,” he spoke softly.
“I’m sorry I’ve been… difficult,” I confessed to him.
“You’re going through a lot of weird things. It’s ok,” he rubbed at my back.
“So are you,” I added.
“Yeah, but you have the hard part,” a smile curled across his lips while he rubbed at my stomach.
This whole moment we were sharing made me smile. For the first time since I found out I was pregnant, I felt like we were on the same page… And it felt so nice. However, while we were still caught up in this moment, a pain suddenly ripped through my stomach just below where Jake’s hand was resting. I winced and let out a quiet whimper.
“What’s wrong?” he quickly asked me.
“It’s fine,” I assured him and pushed myself to my feet.
“Ky…” he sent me a knowing look.
“I’m fine,” I put on a smile now.
He sighed and got to his feet as well. Once he was next to me, I reached up and gave his lips a quick peck.
“Be careful,” I added since I knew he needed to head out for his heat race soon.
“I’m more worried about you,” he sighed.
“I’m ok,” I sent him a smile.
“If you say so.”
Before I walked away, I patted at his cheek, leaving him to get ready for his race. He called out to me, telling me that he would take me where I needed to go on the Kawi ATV, but I just waved him off. I was fine. I go to the doctors again in a few days. It’s no big deal! I was just going to find a spot to sit and watch the race! And it was in one of the Monster suites. It wasn’t like I was going to be uncomfortable! And plus, when I got there, I was going to text Hannah to see if she had a good time with her future in laws. I’ll be fine!
