Skin Deep
About a year has passed since the outbreak began.
Jo has settled in Nevada, scavenging anything she can from the desert and its unoccupied houses. Avoiding cities, she travels by motorbike in search of food and a roof over her head for the night.
Daryl and Merle survive together. They find it best to keep moving too, and travel on highways from state to state in the hope of finding supplies and living to see another day.
During a trip to an abandoned house on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert, their paths cross. By appearances it would seem like the brothers would welcome a fellow badass biker into their group, and that Jo should be terrified of the muscly men, but appearances are only skin deep.
Just to make it clear, this is an AU story. Merle never lost his hand, and after Rick rescued the brothers from the Governor but refused to have Merle at the prison, the Dixons left. They never went back to the prison.
Also, the layout works best if the comments are hidden.
