Chapter twenty five

When I woke up I climbed gently out of my bunk expecting to be the first awake. To my suprize I noticed Alex's bunk curtain slung open and he was no where to found. No one from All Time Low was here. "Where's ATL?" I asked opening Derrek's curtian. "They played early today." His voice was sleepy. That's weird, why didn't Alex wake me up? "I'ma go try and catch the ending of their set." I said hurrying to grab my clothes. I changed and simply brushed out my hair. I gabbed my phone and hurried to the stage. When I arrived they were walking off stage. "Fuck that was an awesome show." Jack commented "Wo!" Alex came next. "Thanks for waking me up." I pulled Alex aside. He laughed, "You've seen us a hundred times." "So..?" He shrugged, "Honestly I didn't know we were playing so early." "Mhm." "So, dinner..." He started and leaned on his left foot waiting for an answear." "What?" He relaxed,"I owe you dinner remember." "I was only joking." "Nope, no taking it back now." "Alright, what about it?" His lips curled, "You'll do it? I mean go with me?" "What can it hurt?" "Cool, uhm, I need time to get shit together so uh next Friday?" "And what would the attire be?" "Uh," He rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess casual, fuck I don't know." He laughed. "You're bad at this Alex." "I know, give me a break." I laughed, "It's going to be fun." "I never doubted it would be." His smile turned kiddish again. He was the cutest. "What are you guys talking about?" Jack walked over to us. Alex and I looked at each other, "Uh, just furfilling a deal I made yesterday." Alex simply stated. "Oh, because I'm pretty sure I heard something about dinner and I thought you finally got the balls to ask her out." Alex rolled his eyes and turned back to me. "I'm going to take a shower. I'm sweaty." "Alright, I'll catch up with you." My heart was thumping hard against my chest. I wasn't sure what was going on, a date? I shouldn't get my hopes up. I actually stopped at the merch tent on my way back and quickly pulled Jade from her post. "What's got you all hyped up?" She asked. "Alex and I, he wants to take me to dinner or have dinner or something of the sorts." "What? A date?" "I don't know, like during laser tag Alex cheated by grabbing me and tried to force our team to give our guns up and I pretended to be mad and he wanted to know how he could make it up and as a joke I told him diner. Well just a few minutes ago he brought it up and said next Friday is when we're doing it. He said he had to have time to 'get shit together'." I quoted. "Oh my god that sounds like a date." She squealed. "I don't know, I don't know what to think." "Do you know what you're going to wear?" "Not at all." "Alright, after we close I'm helping you pick something out." "Alright, uh, I'm going to go catch up with Alex." "Alright, bye." She waved. I headed towards the bus and hoped mine and Alex's path collided. "Hey, took you long enough." I heard a voice behind me. "How are you behind me?" I asked turning around to see Alex. "I walked a little slower to kind of wait on you." "I just went to see what Jada was up to." "Mhm." He laughed. "Or you were squealing, "Oh my god i'm going to have dinner with Alex Gaskarth!" and she got immidatly jelous because, who doesn't want me." He winked. "Aright, none of that was accurate and you should check your ego." I laughed. "The jelous part was a joke but you didn't run over there squealing?" "No I didn't Alex." "I'm disapointed." "I'm dissapointed you didn't go squealing to Jack." "And who's to say I didn't?" "I would honestly like to have a video of you squealling." "Alright, caught me. I didn't squeal." "Disapointed." I shook my head walking onto the bus. Suddenly a horried fangirling noise filled the air. "Oh my god I'm going to dinner with Adrienne Smith!" "Okay, that was awful." I said rubbing my ears and turned to face him. "Like you're not use to the sound." "No, no they are usually more attractive than that." "Are you saying I can't make that noise attracitve?" "No, you sounded like a dying cat." He placed his hands over his heart like he was hurt. "What are we doing tonight?" I changed the subject. "Well what do you want to do?" His voice went flirty. "Wow, I bet you've gotten more action this week than you've had your whole life." "Pft, whatever." Suddenly hands explored my body from behind. "But seriously what do you want to do?" He's voice was low and flirty. "God Gaskarth, tell your dick to calm down." I laughed. "Stop teasing and give him what he wants." He laughed. I bit the corner of my lip and turned to look at him. "What would be our excuse this time? They might start to think something." "I'll fake being sick." "I dunno." "Come onnnnn." He drew out moving close to my ear. "Alright." "WO!" suddenly someone came on the bus yell. Both Alex and I jumped. "What is with your random screaming?" Alex laughed. "Just keeping everyone alive." Jack came over and slung his arm around Alex. "So what were you talking about?" His voice was bouncy and the sentence was drawn out. "None of your buisness Jack." Alex copied his tone. "You're all wrapped up in each other." Jack was hinting towards something. "Will you give it a rest?" "Dude, when are you ever going to take my advice." Jack continued more seriously. I slowly rested myself on the couch realising I wasn't needed in this conversation. "When your four year single streak ends." Alex said coldy. Jack's smile slowly faded, "I was just trying to help." His voice went from happy, normal Jack to pouty, sadder Jack. "Man, I.." Alex started. "I know, i'm sorry." He finished. Jack lightly shrugged, then walked towards the back. I continued looking at Alex as he continued to watch Jack going down the hall. He let out a breath and turned to me. "Um, Jack's special isn't he?" He came over and sat next to me. "Yeah, he is." I caught him looking at me out of the corner of his eye. "You want to know don't you?" "I sightly nodded. "I can't tell you." "You really are still in middle school." I laughed. "It's not like that," He said seriously. "You don't have to be so secretive all the time." I picked up his serious tone."I'm not being secretive." "You know you can tell me right?" "Yeah, but just not this one Adrienne." "I think I have a show to play." I said frustrated and stood up. "Are you mad?" He innocently asked. I made it to the hallway and stopped for a second. I turned around to see him leaning back with his head looking straight up and his arms streched across the back of the couch. He looks stressed. I just turned back around and started towards my bunk. Something in the back of my mind was still nagging at me to go back. I unslid my curtains and returned to the lounge but he wasn't there. I walked off the bus then headed straight for the stage. "Where's 'Lex'?" Derrek asked as we walked off stage. "I don't know." "Get in an argument?" "No, I left before we did." "What's up?" He asked with a hint of worry. "Nothing, I guess I tried to stick my nose in something that's not my buisness and I felt like untrusted when he didn't tell me I dunno, it's stupid." He laughed a little, "Everyone tells you their secrets." "I know, I guess I reacted weird I don't know." I groaned. With that we made our way back to the bus. Suddenly along the path, I noticed Alex sitting in the grass a few feet from the bus, under a tree, kind of on a hill. I started towards him. Slowly I came from behind him. I crossed my legs as I lowered myself next to him. His eyes were still set on the land in front of us. "I'm not mad. There's no reason to be." Still he was silent. The wind slightly picked up ruffeling his hair foward. "Lex?" He took a deep breath and finally looked at me. "I don't understand Jack sometimes." He said obviously frustrated. I kept quiet, letting him air. "Yea, yeah he was talking about you that's why I said I couldn't tell you but you're right. It's middle school." "I'm not even worried about it. I just, you know you can come talk to me right?" "Yeah." I unfolded my legs and laid back resting my head on his knee. "How did we end up this close so soon?" I wondered aloud. "Well... I mean we have gotten as close as possible physically." He laughed. Suddenly I felt his fingers start running through the ends of my hair. "You know what?" I suddenly said excited. He slightly laughed, "what?" "I think we should do something." "What do you mean?" "Like, I want to do something memorial with you. What if this is the last time we get to see each other for awhile." "What's that suppose to mean?" "Just what if." "But I don't like that what if." "I don't either but-" "Then don't let it be." "But, I figured when this is over we'll go our seperate ways, touring our sperate ways." "Is that what you want?" "No, but I just I'm sure that's how it's going to go." "Uhm, so this memorial thing..." He changed the subject back. "What were you thinking?" He finished. "Uhm, I don't know. What's something you've always wanted to do?" "Sky diving?" "There is no way i'm sky diving. One thing I can't do." "Then what's something you've always wanted to do?" "I thought it would be cool to ride in a hot air balloon." "You'll do that but you won't sky dive?" I shrugged. "Actually, I think my number one thing was getting to meet you guys." "You actually have a list?" "I made it when the band first started." "Where is it?" "At home, I wouldn't bring that with me." I laughed. "So was having sex with me next?" "No, I never imagined that." I laughed. "I think meeting penguins were next." "Do you still want to do that?" "Totally! I want to meet penguins!" I laughed. "Alright, now i'm interested, what was next?" "Either being on the beach after the sun was down, or, okay I know this sounds dorky but being kissed while on top of the farris wheel." "Wow." He laughed. "I know, i'm dorky." "I agree with that." He laughed, " and I think we should start back." "Why?" I pouted. "Because there's been people taking pictures of us for the past few minutes." "What?" I turned my head and sure enough there were some kids standing there pulled over on the highway, taking pictures. "Let's go talk to them." I said standing up. "Alright but if they ask about what we were doing you couldn't resist." "You are so," "What?" He smiled. "Nothing." I laughed. We made our way down that side of the hill. The group looked at us in shock. "We didn't think you'd come down here we just saw you and.. it was so cute." One of the girls tried to explain. "It's cool." I laughed. "I didn't get to bring a sharpie with me." "I have one in my car hold on." She said turning hurring off. "Alex oh my god." One of the girls quickly hugged him. I smiled watching him hold squeeze her tight in return. It's sweet how much he cared for his fans. "H-here." The girl returned. I snapped back to her, "sorry I was just-" "He's hard not to look at." She laughed. I signed her ticket. "Terry can you take a picture?" She called one of her friends standing back taking a picture of the other girl with Alex. "Yeah sure hold on." He answered. The girl positioned herself next to me. I wrapped my arm around her back. "Can we stick our tongues out?" "Yeah sure." I laughed. A short second later she had moved on to Alex and her friend Terry was now by my side. He had me sign his ticket and CD and gave me a large hug. He looked to be my age, almost nineteen if not already. "Are one of these your girlfriend?" I asked making conversation. "Nope, sister and sister's bestfriend. I was their ride here. I mean I was coming already and they are a fan too so." He nervously rambled. "Oh, that's nice of you." "C-can I get a picture?" "Yeah sure." I politly smiled. He awkwardly stood next to me. "What do you want to do?" I asked. "What?" "It's your picture, you don't have to stand there awkwardly." "Uhm, can I pick you up?" "Sure." I guess it wouldn't be that bad. He placed his arm carefully under my leg and one around my back lifting me off of the ground. I wrapped my arms around his neck for support. "I'm sorry i'm heavy." I laughed. "Oh shut up you're like a leaf." I broke his shy shell. To make memories I pressed my lips to his cheek and felt him heat up. Quickly one of the girls took a picture. "Wow, thanks." He laughed. "If anyone doesn't believe that I'll vouche for you." They started towards their car. Alex and I waved and started back up the hill. "Awe how sweet, you kissed his cheek." "Just creating memories y'know." "Wow, I never really thought of it like that." "It's why I love the band so much." "That's cool, definatly the way I should be thinking." He laughed. "So, that was enough fun for me for one day." "We still got later." He winked. "Okay, I have a little room for more fun." We walked back onto the bus, "where did you two run off to?" Derrek asked. "We met some fans." "Oh." "And you might see some pictures surface later." "What?" "Just, wait for it." Alex said. "I'm going to go talk to Jack." Alex directed towards me. "I'm going to get ready." I followed behind him to the back untill he stopped at Jack's bunk. I slid past him and onto the back. I grabbed just a pair of jeans and a simple tanktop. I brushed my hair out leaving in loose curls. I slid my shoes on and took a look in the mirror, I look tired and I am. Touring is rough. I walked towards the front and as I passed Jack's bunk I caught, "I did." "Really?" Jack's voice ran next. I returned to the front with questions in my head. What has to do with me that Jack told him to do? I'm so confused. "You gave up didn't you?" Jake asked. "What? Are you saying I look bad." "Shut up Jake she looks fine." Jade scolded. "Hey, that reminds me, you want to head out early so we can talk?" I asked. "Yeah sure, c'mon." She raised out of Blake's arms. "Wow, thanks for stealing my girl friend." "You get to see her more than me." "And how's that?" "I need her, I tell her how cute you are." Jade smiled. "Bye." I laughed. "Alright, what the hell is going on between you and Alex?" "What do you mean?" "I understand he asked you on a date-" "We don't know that." "Yes we do, anyways, you two spend so much time together, you have cute little pet names, how are you this close already?" "Maybe our personallities collide well." "Bullshit, you guys are soulmates." I laughed and rolled my eyes. "Jade, I think you've drank too much." "I only had a few and what if it's true." "You know I don't believe in that shit." "You don't believe in anything though." "Yeah, because I'm a realist." "You're delirious." She countered. "And it's not a date." "It so is! I've been here for two days and I can see how into you he is." "Oh whatever." "Oh whatever, anytime you walk into the room he jumps up with excitment." "As if, do you not see who he is?" "Alex Gaskarth?" "Of All Time Low." "And?" "I have no idea where I was going with that." "Look, it's a date." She always tried to have the final word. Finally I spoke my mind, why I denied it was so much, "can you please stop? You're getting my hopes up way too high. So what if it's a date, I don't want to get so hopeful before I know." "Awe, but it is." "You're doing it again Jade." "I can't help it. My best friend finally has a boyfriend." I let out a breath. "If it is a date then it is, if it's not then so be it. I don't want to get my hopes up, I'm happy like this." "You are, I can tell your happy. I'm sorry, I'll leave it alone." "Thank you." I laughed. We stopped talking for a few minutes. "Now, can we talk about how cute Jack is like we used to do?" She asked hopeful. I heard laughing from behind. We turned to see Alex and Jack. "I told you man!" "How long have you been there?" I asked nervously. "We just came down here, you walk slow." Alex answered. "Talk about how cute Jack is huh?" Jack was smiling wide. "Yeah, what about Alex?" Alex scoffed. "Shut up Alex let me have this one." "I don't know what you're talking about?" I asked. "Dance with me?" Jack asked. I shrugged, it couldn't hurt. "Sure, why not." "So you say Jack's cute and he get's a dance?" Alex complained. "Calm down Lex it's a dance." "I'm not freaking out." "You're complaining." "Alwex is jewous." Jack laughed. "I am not." He protested. "Come on Jack." I said tugging on his arm into the grates. "Tell me how pretty I am!" Jack shouted in a girlish voice. "You're beautiful Jack." I laughed over the music. He stuck his arms out. "Let's dance." We both started to move to the music. Jack did some weird move causing me to laugh rather hard. "What was that?" I continued laughing. He shrugged, "you laughed so it did it's duty." "Oh you were trying to make me laugh." I smirked. "I wasn't trying I did." He reminded. I lightly rolled my eyes. "I think we made Alex mad." He said looking over. "Why?" "Because I don't see him anywhere." "Maybe he's dancing." "I don't see him anywhere." "Maybe I should go find him. We can dance next time?" "Don't worry about it." He shrugged. I wrapped arms quickly around his neck and pulled him into a hug. "I'll see you in a little." I waved. I started loosly on the path towards the bus. I could see an ilumnating light shine as I came closer to it. "Why aren't you down there?" I asked seeing Alex's face in the small light. "I came to grab my phone, why aren't you down there?" "Jack thought we made you mad or something." "Why would I be mad?" "I don't know, I asked the same thing. Jack seems to always know a little more than me." "Well he is my best friend." "But I am working my way up there." "I guess but there is nothing like a bro to a bro bond." "I have a better friendship with Derrek than I do with Jade." "That's because girls tend to be annoying. Of course you'd rather hang out with Derrek." "You're impossible." I laughed. "Aw, who's jealous now?" "I'm going to go back and dance with Jack." I said turning away. "Wait! I was only joking." I turned back around, "Who's jealous now?" "I wasn't jealous, I don't like being alone." "That is such a lie, you prefered to be alone earlier." He smirked, "Come here." He pulled me foward and leaned down and kissed me. "Before the sun has completely gone down?" I asked with a sly smile. We pulled each other onto the bus and managed to the back before all our clothes were off and scattered through the bus. When we finished we took a shower, almost routinely. We went through the bus gathering our clothes, then I sat on the couch to watch a movie. "I think I'm heading to bed." He said leaning out of the hallway. "Good night I guess." "Uhm, alright." He disapeared then seconds later he returned, "Aren't you going to sleep?" "Nope." "Oh- waiting for someone or..?" "Yeah, Jade." "Oh, uh, okay. I'll go to sleep now then." I laughed a little. "Good night Lex, sweet dreams." 'Night." He called back. I honestly was waiting for Jade. I was hoping she'd help me pick out something to wear for the dinner.. whatever it was. I guess I had dosed off before she had returned because the next thing I knew I was being put into my bunk. I sleepily opened my eyes to see Alex. "Good night Andy, sweet dreams." He spoke softly and sweetly. I nodded and closed my eyes returning back to sleep.
