On Love, On Life

Here I was sitting on my couch on a Friday night with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked while watching reruns of the Big Bang theory on TV yet again. As much as I loved Sheldon and his antics they could quite make me forget how non-existent my social life was. I was 25, single and had few friends in the city I now called my home. This was primarily due to my job which had irregular hours and caused me to travel a lot. Not that I minded too much. It paid well and it was the position that I had dreamed of having and worked my ass off to get since I was a teenager. I just hadn’t realised that I would have to sacrifice my social. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job but it was nights like this when I sat alone in my apartment that I questioned my career choice. I definitely missed home. I’d lived in Ottawa my whole life until I started college in Montreal at Concordia University. I’d then moved to my current city when I was offered a job here upon graduating three years ago.

My name is Océane Desormeaux and I am an athletic therapist for the Chicago Blackhawks.
