Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us

I had almost ran to my car, ridiculously angry over how rude he had been to me. It shouldn’t bother me too much but I had to deal with assholes being rude to me all day. I sat in my car and listened to music blasting from my speakers, I didn’t even know what it was. I just needed the noise. I leaned back and closed my eyes, inhaling as much of the smoke as I could, thankfully Frank’s lighter had fallen out of his pocket this morning.
I was pulled out of my trance as someone tried to open the passenger door, which I had locked. I leaned over and unlocked the door for my cousin. He had pushed his face up against the window and I couldn’t help but laugh, properly laugh. That was why I loved my cousin, I could feel like shit and he fixed things.
“Can you give my friend a ride? His brother was supposed to take him but he left without him” he asked, leaning behind me to unlock the door behind me. I didn’t exactly have a choice now.
“Sure, where do you live kid?” I asked, starting the ignition and finding the bite without even thinking. I heard Frank laugh as I pulled out the school car park.
“He’s older than you.” Frank told me, pulling his fags out his pocket and lighting one. He opened the window, knowing I didn’t like the smell of the stuff he smoked. I looked at the guy in the back of my car again, he was skinny with a long brown fringe and a beanie hat, he reminded me of chicken little. It was his eyes that caught my attention though. They were almost the same as the ass face who had been so kind to me in detention.
The drive to his house was quick, he lived not far from us. It had been quiet though, mostly consisting of Frank changing the songs over every few seconds. I swear that boy has the attention span of a flea. Neither me or Frank spoke all the way back to his house, thankfully it wasn’t awkward though.
As soon as we were through the front door I went straight to my room. No one said anything, this was my normal behaviour, plus there was probably no one else home. I pulled off my school uniform and threw it on the floor, finding an old pair of faded skinny jeans and a top that had a few too many holes in.
“I’m having some friends over tonight.” Frank told me as I fell onto the sofa next to him. He handed me a can of pop as I reached for the TV remote. “Mikey is bringing his band and we’re gonna try and write some songs together.” he told me without looking away from the TV.
“That’s fine, I’ve got a ton of homework to do before the weekend anyway.” I told him, drinking the drink he had given me. It was like drinking sherbet but the mixture of caffeine and sugar would keep me going for at least a few more hours.
After about an hour of watching car crash TV I heard someone knocking at the door. I stood up, stretching and went over to answer it.
“Hey Chelsea.” Frank’s friend said, pulling me into a big bear hug. I always forgot his name and it always annoyed the hell out of me. I could never forget him because of his amazing afro and thick lips that most girls would die for.
“Hey.” I whispered, hugging him back. He pulled away and walked into the living room leaving me to go back to my room. I stared at the pile of books for a while before pulling the one from the top and opening it to the already marked page. Chemistry, yay. Slowly I began making as detailed notes as I could without copying out the page.
I had to stop every now and then when my eyes began to get tired, I wouldn’t stop for long, just long enough to rub them and drink more energy drinks. The only time I stopped for more than a few moments was when my body began to completely started to shake. When had I last eaten? This morning, maybe? I opened the drawer beneath my bed and pulled out a chocolate bar. That would have to do for today.
