Dancing on Sunshine

Part One

BVB – 50 Drabbles

Title: Dancing on Sunshine

Summary: 50 moments in which the Band began to realize how much Amy loved Andy, and how much Ashley just wished Amy would see him as more than a friend.

Contains plenty of angst, really weird humour, and an eventual happy ending. The OFC (original female character) is kinda similar in personality to me, so I guess it would be classed as a self-insert?

Dancing on Sunshine

1. Beauty

It’s there’s one thing Amy loves above all else, as a typical Libra, it’s beauty. And as she sits behind the scenes of the concert, backstage, she observes the singer before her in all of his tall, dark, handsome glory. She sighed and she could help but let a love-struck smile spread across her lips.

She’d wave alongside his girlfriend, Juliet Simms. Amy wants to hate Juliet, because she has Andy’s devotion, but she can’t find it in herself to do so, regardless, she was nothing compared to the beautiful Juliet.

Amy never noticed how Ashley continued to glance at her, and how his smile and the sparkle in his chocolate brown eyes continued to dim with every glance at her. Normally girls like her the “girl-next door” type didn’t appeal to him, but she was far from predictable or boring. She was beautiful with her golden hair and bright green eyes. She didn’t see him, however, she only saw his best friend, Andy.

2. Love
There has only been one time in his life where Ashley has been in love, and that had been with Kina. It hadn’t worked out between them, with his busy schedule and her love of living in the moment, but he had loved her and mourned over he had to break things off for the better.

When he looked at Amy, he saw someone who he was sure he could love. She loved to paint, she was shy but she had a great sense of humour and she was every so gentle and giving. Her body, while not as curvy was the woman he was normally attracted to, was a slender and fit physique from the yoga she always did in the morning. Her bright green eyes, silk-like hair and her modest body always seemed to catch his attention easily. He was close to loving her, just as much as she was in love with the mere idea of Andy.

And that hurt more than he would ever admit.

3. Dream

Amy had a dream once, that she would become a famous artist, and a famous writer with her own series. Now, however, all she wanted to do was remain the merch girl of the black veil brides, simply to remain at Andy’s side. It crushed her to see him with another woman, no matter how perfect he and Juliet were together. She knew she saw him in rose-tinted glasses, and that he had his faults, but she continued to admire him, and if anything her feelings continued to grow.

It was a sweet torture that was beginning to eat her alive, and still, she continued to dream, she continued to dream of a time when he would eventually see her, and he would love her like she loved him. However, in the back of her mind, she knew it was a hopeless dream, like all of the previous dreams before.

4.Haunted

It terrified Andy how everything was slowly falling apart around him. He knew of Amy’s crush on him, and although she had done nothing to try and make him, or Juliet uncomfortable, or try to break him and his girlfriend up, it still caused problems. Juliet was jealous, and she was worried that he’d want Amy and not her. He loved Juliet, and he didn’t plan on leaving her.

Andy also knew how Ashley felt about Amy, it was obvious to everyone but Amy it seemed, he couldn’t truly blame her, she had Asperger’s Syndrome, so she found understanding body language difficult, and she was tone-deaf, so she couldn’t hear how much desire and devotion coated Ashley’s face and voice when he talked to her.

Now, things between him and Ashley were becoming strained, and there was only one thing Andy could do, at the risk of pushing Amy away from them all, and he feared Ashley would never forgive him if he did this, but it was better than letting things continue as they were. “Amy, can I talk to you for a moment?”

5.Memory

Memories, Amy would give anything to have amnesia, and never have to remember what happened, and to have a fresh start and to heal the pain. She had been able to fake a smile and as long as no-one looked directly at her, no-one would notice how red and puffy her eyes were. However, whenever she wasn’t working, she showered and retreated into her bunk.

She remembered how Andy had took her aside and explained that he was flattered at her crush on him, but he didn’t like her like that, and that Ashley had feelings for her. He had asked her to consider Ashley an option, a serious option. She wasn’t sure she could do that.

Her memories of Ashley were ones of him bringing in the newest slut to fuck, he seemed to prefer the no strings attached arrangement just fine, so what had changed? Her head ached, and she felt guilty, she only just realized that or the last few months, she hadn’t seen the bassist bring any new sluts onto the bus. She had never felt so guilty for hurting someone before, especially someone she considered a friend.

6.Fragile
Ashley had noticed how fragile Amy had become, she looked like she was going to break. Her normally bright green eyes were dull with depression and her hair was lacking it’s usual bounce. She stopped wearing her usual tight jeans and tank tops, and she stopped wearing make-up, when she was on the bus, she stayed in her pyjamas, and her eyes were usually puffy from the crying she did at night.

The bassist hated that Andy had broken her heart, and for several days he had refused to speak to the singer, and he focused on holding Amy as she cried herself to sleep. He still felt jealous, why couldn’t Amy see that he was right in front of her?!

However, he tried to be patient, but after a while, she stopped crying, but it was obvious she was in pain. She started wearing her usual clothes again after two weeks of constant crying, and when he asked her what made the change, she simply said; “Crying won’t change anything.”

She looked like she wanted to cry, and Ashley simply held her as she regained some sort of control over herself. Despite how she pretended to be otherwise, he could see how fragile she truly was behind the usual hard skin she put up.

7. Celebration

They were celebrating that night for winning rock band of the year, for the 3rd time in a row, and for once Amy joins them at the club. Normally large crowds of people weren’t her thing, but she had noticed how sad Ashley had become over the last little while.

She had thought about what Andy had said, and decided that even though she still had feelings for the singer, she could try to put her feelings behind her and try to make Ashley happy. So, she put on her little black cocktail dress with her black smokey make-up, and a necklace Ashley helped design, before she ventured off to Ashley’s bunk.

“Hey, Ashley, would you mind being my...” she stopped as she caught the eyes of the Bassist. He was tangled up in the limbs of a blond woman (he seemed to have a thing for blondes) with boobs that had to have been sugerically improved to be that big. “Sorry, I’ll, uh, leave you to it.”

She got out of there quickly, and she ignored the sickening feeling in her stomach. Andy had been wrong; Ashley didn’t have feelings, for her, obviously. She couldn’t help but wonder why she wasn’t so relieved, but, when she saw Andy and Juliet dancing together, she stuck to the bar for the rest of the night to drink. She planned to celebrate her stupidity.

8.Secret

Amy had plenty of secrets, and she never told anyone her secrets. However, CC seemed so worried, enough for her to pick up, which was a lot (and he used the right words to give it away too), and soon, she was talking about how she felt about Andy, and how much it hurt that her dreams of him and her were shattered, and how confused she was about Ashley.

CC had been patient and listened silently, and she expressed that gratitude, which the older man smiled to and shook his head, and he claimed that she was ‘something else’, whatever that meant.

“Was Andy wrong about Ashley having feelings for me?” Amy asked and tucked her hair, wavy from the curls she had made last night, behind her ear and she observed the drummer, but she could never hold his warm brown eyes for longer than a brief second. Looking someone directly in the eye had always been difficult.

“You know, some guys deal with unrequited feelings with flings to bring up their confidence, and to help vent the frustration and pain,” CC told her, and she frowned a little in confusion. He resisted laughing at her confusion, he’d feel like a bully if he did.

“What does that have to do with...oh,” she cut herself off as understanding dawned on her.

9.Promise

It takes a few days for Amy to gather the courage to approach Ashley after she walked in on him, and she couldn’t help but curl her lip in disgust at how Ashley was always with some new skank. Was he trying to make her feel unimportant, or jealous?

Well, she certainly felt unimportant right at the moment. Finally, her frustration fuelled her as she approached Ashley, and grabbed the girl by the hair before she threw the skank off the bus. All the guys stared at her with a mixture of horror and awe.

Finally, Amy stood in front of the frozen Ashley, and she glared down at him (she hoped she was actually glaring, she had trouble conveying her emotions to other people). “You, are going to stop whoring yourself off to other people, and I’m going to date you.”

Silence enveloped the bus, and the other band members quietly left Ashley and Amy to themselves; they were better off alone for now, especially considering how Amy looked like she wanted to murder Ashley right now.

Ashley stared at her, and Amy put all her effort into looking him in the eyes rather than at his chin or neck, and she jumped when he started to chuckle, rather than get angry at her. “Yes mam,” he replied with an odd smile on his face.

She was still suspicious though. “Promise?”

“I promise.”

10.Innocence

Normally, being asked out (or demanded in this case)so quickly by a woman after having her heart broken would have put Ashley on edge out of fear of being used, but right now, he trusted her, and most of the trust was influenced by his joy at her finally noticing him, and he didn’t care as long as he got at least a little of her attention. More on him and less on Andy.

“Congrats man,” Andy says as he gives the bassist a quick hug, and for the first time in nearly two months, Ashley gives Andy a sincere smile.

“Hey, you ready to go?” Amy asks as she finally leaves the bathroom. She’s wearing tight boot-cut jeans with heels with a simple but sparkly black top with dark, smokey make-up. Simple but elegant, and he grinned at the sight of her. She looked so innocent, and Ashley planned on keeping that innocence to himself.

“Yeah, I’m ready,” he informs her, and he opens the taxi door for her, like a true gentleman. She smiles at him, and she meets his eyes for more than a second before she gets nervous and quickly looks away. He appreciated her effort and he slide into the taxi beside her and for the rest of the night, he held her hand.
