We Have Lost Our Way

-Fast forward a week-

Alexs POV:
I got up and i took Caitlyn to school and spent the day with Jack. He wanted me to help him find a new color for his room, i guess he thinks of me as a decorator which is bullshit. Later while me and Jack were painting his room Caitlyn came home with Cameron.

"Hey" Caitlyn said

"Hey" i said not looking at her

"What the fuck are you two doing?" she asked me, i was on Jacks shoulders

"Painting. Duh. How was school?" i asked

"Fine. I got somthing interesting coming up in my business class" she said

"What is it?" i asked

"Well...the teacher wants us to bring in a parent that has a intersting type job. I thought about getting out of it but the teacher said if we dont do this we fail" she said

"Seriously, why?" i asked

"I dont know. Some shit about how the job descriptions will be part of a assignment and we have to pick which was more interesting. No clue" she said

"Why the hell did you wanna get out of it!?" i said

"Because, people hate me enough. Heidis in that class, i dont need her talking more shit. Plus i dont want you to get embarrassed" she said

"Ignore that little bitch. I have the most intersting job that the highschool has ever seen. And i'll be fine trust me" i said

"Yeah" she said

"This is gonna be fucking awesome!. Kids are gonna be so jealous" i said

"Mhmm...so you wanna do it?" she asked

"Of course!" i said

"Okay, its tomorrow" she said

"Damn short notice. But im free so whatever" i said

"Not really, ive known about it for a few days. I just didnt wanna be involved and then the teacher mentioned that we'd fail and i didnt have a choice" she said

"What!?. Well...whatever. What time do i need to be in the school by?" i asked

"Like 12. Heres a paper of what is expected of you" she said handing me a paper

"Sounds good" i said

"Yeah, just go to the office and say your there for Mrs. Hudsons class. They should know what its about" she said

"Alright" i said

"Okay so were gonna go do homework, see ya" she said and they left the room

"This is gonna be interesting" Jack laughed and i ran the paintbrush down his head

"Shut up" i said

"Fuck!" he yelled

The next day i looked over the paper. I needed to have a very good description of what i do and a example, this was gonna be interesting. I went to the school at 12 and went straight to the office, there was other parents and they gave me weird looks.

"Hello" i said

"Hi. What can i do for you?" the secretary asked

"Im here for Mrs. Hudsons class" i said

"Really?" she said a little shocked

"Mhmm" i said

"Okay. I need to know whats in the bag, security regulations and all" she said

"Oh, yeah. Its a guitar" i said

"Alright, name?" she asked

"Alex Gaskarth" i said

"Oh so your Caitlyns dad, shes a sweet girl" she said writing my name on a visitors pass

"Thank you" i said

"Mhm. Here you go, the room is on the second floor. Room 219" she said

"Thanks" i said and she handed me the pass

I went upstairs and looked for the class, it was surprisingly hard even though it was like walking in a giant square. I eventually found the class and walked in, all the parents were looking at me weird and so were some students.

"Hello. Im Mrs. Hudson, who are you?" she asked

"Uhm, im Caitlyns dad" i said and everyone looked surprised. Whats with everyone being fucking amazed that im her father!?

"Oh okay. Well you can just hangout in the back with all the parents" she said

"Okay" i said feeling awkward and i went and stood next to Camerons mom

"Hey Alex" she said, she owned her own business

"Hey" i said

"You look a little nervous" she said, we were speaking low because the teacher started talking to the class

"More just feeling awkward, everyone is like staring at me today. I guess im just to young looking to be Caitlyns father or something" i said

"Im guessing its because you came in the way you are with a guitar. And your her father, guess people didnt expect you to look this way" she said. I had to do dress how i dress to work, which is how i typically dress daily. Everyone else has suits and scrubs on and what not

"Thats true. Or they could all be staring because someone started a rumor that im gay" i said

"Wow, really?" she asked

"Mhmm" i said and she laughed

"Kids are ridiculous" she said and i nodded

"Alright lets get started, were doing this in alphabetical order. So Taras mom is first" Mrs. Hudson said

"Here we go" i said and Camerons mom nodded already looking bord like me

The teacher went down the list and all the parents did their little presentations, it was fucking boring. When it was my turn i talked about what i did and then i played the class one song, to be more specific i played paint you wings. After that the teacher came to the front of the room.

"Alright. So now onto the question part of this, anyone have any questions?" Mrs. Hudson asked and a few kids raised their hands and she picked on a kid

"I gotta know. Are you Caitlyns biological dad?" the kid asked

"No personal questions Mike" she said

"Its fine. Yes i am" i said

"Wow" he said

"Next question, Kylie" she said pointing to a girl

"I heard that your gay, is that true?" Kylie asked

"Like i said. No personal questions" Mrs. Hudson said

"To answer that question. No. I agree with Mrs. Hudson, lets keep it strictly business here" i said

"I have a question" Cameron said raising his hand

"Cameron you know everything there is to know about me" i said and another kid raised their hand and Mrs. Hudson called on them

"Do you have any advice for someone who's trying to get their band to go places" the kid asked me

"Nice question, see is it that hard to ask decent questions. I'll tell you one thing, just get as many gigs as you can and practice really hard" i said

After the class was over i went home and told Jack about what happened, he happened to think it was the funniest shit ever. Later me and Jack went and picked up Cameron and Caitlyn up from school.

"Hey" they said as they got in the car

"Hey" i said

"So how was the rest of school?" i asked

"Fine" she said

"I heard about what happened today" Jack said

"Yeah that was...embarrassing" she said

"It was pretty funny, fucking stupid kids" i said

"Yeah, and you two being in this fucking convertible probably isnt helping the gay rumors" she said and me and Jack shrugged and Heidi and her mom came over to our car

"Hi im Donna Stevens and i guess your daughter knows my daughter Heidi?" Donna said

"Oh yeah, Caitlyns told me lots of stuff about her. Im Alex Gaskarth" i said

"Hi. So ive heard from Heidi about your situation" she said

"Uhmm...my situation?" i said confused

"Yes. She told me that Caitlyn has no mother in her life and that your gay. I just wanted to give you guys the address to our church, in case you two need guidance" she said and handed me a card and i looked at her with a raised eyebrow and Jack started laughing

"What the fuck im fucking straight, your daughter fucking heard me say it today. Trust me my daughter has plenty of female influences in her life, she doesnt need her fuck up of a mom around all the time. So please for the love of god stay the hell out of my personal life" i said

"Caitlyn, if you ever need to talk-" she started and i cut her off

"Look lady, get the fuck out of here and dont ever talk to my daughter ever again. She is perfectly happy and content with life the way it is" i said and Caitlyn nodded

"Look Mr. Gaskarth your sexuality is hindering-" she started and i cut her off

"Holy shit!. Im not gay!, this is my best friend and everytime your little slut of a daughter has seen her with a man thats not me its my other friends. You really need to fuck off and not worry about my kid, shes fine and if i was gay she'd still be fine since being gay isnt a fucking sin that messes with people you stupid fucking judgmental ass" i said

"Dont be afraid to join us Caitlyn, you could really-" Donna started and i cut her off and drove away

"Fucking bitch!" i said

"Wow Alex, crazy much" Jack said

"Yes. And im damn pround of it!" i said
