I gave him all of me. I let him trail his hands over every part of my body. His fingers were like matches, setting off fireworks inside my gut.

“Shadow,” he said grinning next to me on white sheets. “Now you’re really mine.”

And that was true. I surrendered the identity that I had separate from Tate. I didn't think I needed it anymore. I felt like we were one person. We were safe and we were happy, as long we were together.

I was his.

I had given my him my soul, all wrapped up in patterned paper and silk ribbon.

He owned me.

I just thought that I owned him too.
