Just Us
Returned
Though I desperately didn't want to leave, I departed for the first stop on the "Dangerous" tour; Munich, Germany.
I sat in the backstage dressing room before I was about to go on and thought of Anne. Sleeping alone in the hospital all the way back in California. I couldn't stand the thought that maybe she would wake and
I couldn't be there to greet her. That her father would corrupt her mind with the thought that I didn't want to be there. That I had left when I was better and all those visits would have been completely forgotten. I almost completely broke down, but the stage manager came in and warned me of how much time I had. I composed myself and headed under the stage.
I loved making people wait to see what I was going to do next, so I planned to be ejected out from under the stage and just stand there for a couple minutes so the audience could "simmer". I always told Kenny Ortega, the man who put it all together, that we needed to let it "simmer" so the audience could hang onto the edge of their seats. I crouched down and kept my shoulders square as I was ejected above tha audiences' heads and screams flew from every direction. It took every ounce of my being not to smile or show any emotion as some fainted and others were speechless. I scanned the crowd and saw thousands of people crying, laughing, smiling, and millions of other things as I prepared to sing "Jam". I pulled off my sunglasses and the crowds screams escilated. I threw the glasses off to the side and began to dance. I went through the songs without a fault. I sang:
"Jam"
"Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"
"Human Nature"
"Smooth Criminal"
"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" Ft. Siedah Garrett
"She's Out of My Life"
"Jackson 5 Medley Medley" "I Want You Back"
"The Love You Save"
"I'll Be There"
"Thriller"
"Billie Jean"
"Workin' Day and Night"
"Beat It"
"Will You Be There"
"The Way You Make Me Feel" Munich to Oslo; Performed on Tokyo concerts
"Bad" Munich to Oslo; Performed on Tokyo concerts
"Black or White"
"We Are the World" Video Interlude
"Heal the World"
"In The Closet" Instrumental (only performed at Toulouse)
"Man in the Mirror"
And in the end of every show came my favorite part; The rocket man! I just couldn't resist when someone mentioned that it would be cool for me to jet-pack off the stage, so I called a few people and set it up. I won't lie, it was amazing. Flying over the heads of my thousands of fans as they would reach up to try and to touch me.
After every show I would call back into Califonia to check up on Anne.
Unfortuanetly I was unable to finish the third and fourth legs of my tour due to illness, back problems, and dehydration. I felt awful for deserting my fans like that, but Frank Delio consoled me all the way back to California. I immediately went to the hospital to see Anne. I walked to the desk and asked to see her. The woman who usually escorted me just shooed me away.
"Fine." I said. I began to walk towards Anne's room when she ran to stop me.
"Mr. Jackson you can't go in there." She stated. I cocked my head in confusion.
"Why not?" I asked. She always let me go see her and today should have not been different.
"You just can't." She argued. I nodded and walked away with her. Suddnely I turned and ran to her room. The nurse was chasing me and yelling as I turned into the open doored room.
Anne was gone.
