The Dogwood Tree

30 years after the incident a young couple, John Watergrey & his beloved wife Layla Jones, decided to move into the mansion. They had been moving in stuff for a week. Finally on a rainy saturday night they had been settled in. All was peaceful in the mansion. Layla was upstairs reading a book in bed and John was in the basement unloading one more box. He stood "That's the last of them" he said and faintly saw in the dark something on the ground. He flicked a nearby switch and it turned on a light that revealed a rectangle of dirt on the ground. He saw a shovel and was curious what lied under. Then he heard his wife call for him from upstairs. He flicked off the switch and headed upstairs. "Honey, I'm tired it's time for bed" Layla exclaimed. Laying in bed, John felt the basement calling his name.
