Solo Tu

chapter 1

"Pack your bags!" Sergio Ramos said on the other line.
"What for?" Lorean Ramos asked her cousin as she wiped her hands on her greased up overalls.

She was at the automotive shop; that's where she worked when she was finished with school. School was interesting for Lorena as she had just recently graduated from University. Her parents weren't too happy with the current job but that's what Lorena loved. She was so good at what she did, she only went to University for her parents, she had gotten a major in communications so if she actually wanted a job that paid fairly decent she would get it. Cars, cars is what she loved the most to work on, to fix, to build; you name it. So here she was, currently at the shop on break and she had received a call from her famous football cousin. They were close, better than close. Every time Sergio screwed up his car, Lorena would go to his rescue and she would do it for free even though Sergio always said he would pay her. Sergio took care of her in many ways that her parents never could. They loved her and everything but she was an only child, so it wasn't like everything she would expect or wanted. Lorena wanted someone in her life, someone that would understand her and be there for her. That's when Sergio went in the picture, their parents had a family reunion every year. Lorena and Sergio where finally able to meet when Sergio had some time off from football when he was younger, and thus the relationship began. They have been inseparable ever since.

Lorena used to live in Sevilla, but once she finished school she moved to Madrid to be closer to her cousin, the person that could fully understand her and not make her feel like a failure. Although, she never watched football, never knew what the hell was going on in that world. She was too busy keeping up with the latest cars and all that jazz that she always forgets to tell Sergio what else she did as a hobby. Something that is frowned upon everywhere, but she couldn't help it, it gave her an amazing feeling and an amazing rush. Sergio was pretty much her best friend and they told each other everything when it came to important things.
"You know the confederation cup is near." Sergio said as he chuckled.
"The what what now? You know I'm busy with the shop and everything," Lorena said.
Everybody that knew Lorena, knew that she was pretty hardcore. Not many women worked in cars, but Lorena was one-of-a-kind. It was just something that she was born with. After all, her father used to be a race car driver for Formula 1. Maybe that's why her parents don't want her to be mixed up with cars, they're afraid that she would turn pro. Lorena learned to drive when she was nine.
"The confederation cup. It's just a football tournament that some countries are entered and I got called up for the National Team with Spain again..."
"Uhu... and where is this taking place?" Lorena smiled as her co-workers passed her by. They really liked her for her spontaneous personality and how seriously she took her job.
"In the wonderful land of Brazil." Sergio said Brazil with the Portuguese accent.
"And you want me to go to Brazil with you? Didn't you not want me to meet your friends and stuff though? You know how I am with sports." Lorena smiled.
"Well. I got asked the question to bring someone and I can't think of anyone better than to bring you. Besides. It's Brazil! You're ready to meet the guys...I think." Sergio responded not sounding so sure.

Well this will be a trip.

"I'm in. How long?" Lorena asked.
"Oh thank you Lola! You won't regret it, I swear to you! The tournament lasts two weeks and a half, but we get to go for three weeks. I have a bit of a break, but I'd rather be there right now and party it up before I have to buckle down and train you know."
"So, we would be leaving...tomorrow?" Lorena asked, it was the last day of May.
"Correct." The defender responded.
"Let me go talk to the boss, I'll doubt he'll say no but just in case. Hold on."
Lorena went over to her boss and talked to him about her vacation and her boss told her it was fine, "siempres estas trabajando aqui, nunca te das tiempo para ti misma. Ve, te extrañare, pero ve. (you're always working here, you never give time for yourself. Go, I'll miss you, but go.)"
Piece of cake. "Yes Sergio, it's a go. How about I pack and then head over to your place? What time are we leaving tomorrow?"
"Four in the morning." Sergio said.
"Oh goodness. You're killing me." Lorena said as she groaned, "okay, well I will call you when I am on my way. Adios." Lorena said.
"Thank you so much Lola! I owe you!" Sergio said as he used the nickname she got when she was growing up.
Lorena couldn't say her name when she was a kid, she used to say Lo-lee-na so they started calling her Lola.

Lorena went back to work to finish fixing someone's oil as she smiled to herself. This was going to be a hell of a vacation if Sergio Ramos was involved. He was the prince of the parties, sure she might not keep up with football but it didn't stop her from hearing all the gossip and seeing the magazines. Sergio was always somewhere doing something to someone. All the countless times he called her to tell her about his latest hook-up; clearly, the man was living the life. Lorena couldn't blame him, having a few millions to live with and who to share it with? She hoped that he would find the one soon or else she would give him an intervention. Something that you never wanted to have, especially by Lorena. Nothing fazed her, and she was mostly serious all of the time--she couldn't help it. Her dad was always serious too, so that's where she probably got it from.

After she finished working on the oil and someone's carburator, Lorena had to call her friend Daniela to tell her that she couldn't go tonight to the races, when she got asked why she couldn't, Lorena said that she was going to Brazil for a vacation. That's when Daniela said to her, "oye, pero yo tengo contactos alla en Brazil. Todos los que tu quieras, si quieres te doy algunos y los llamo para decir que tu vas. (hey, but I have contacts over there in Brazil. All the ones that you want, if you want I can give you some and I'll call them to let them know that you're going.)" Lorena immediately said yes and got a few contacts to keep the stakes going. After that, she arrived at her fortress of solitude and packed her bags. Some clothes for the cool weather and some clothes for the warm weather, you never know with South America and all. The Spanish girl finished and dialed to Sergio, it rang until he got voicemail. Leaving him a message to let him know she was on her way, Lorena got in her car and sped all the way to Sergio's house. She knew where the cops where at this time of night so she took all the back roads and got there in a little over fifteen minutes. Taking her luggage out, she walked up to her cousin's luxurious house and rang the doorbell.

Lorena had forgotten to eat. Someone came to the door. A man with short brown hair and dark brown eyes opened the door, "hola." He said.
"Hola, ¿mi primo está aqui? (is my cousin here?)"
"Si, esta en la sala. (yes, he's in the living room.)" He said.
"Gracias. Lorena." She extended her hand out and the man shook her hand.
As she walked in she couldn't help but notice that he was rather tall. Way taller than her. Then again, everybody was taller than her five foot three petite form. She didn't care, she must look all sweet and innocent when in reality she was a tough cookie. A tough person.
"Cesc." The man said as he shook her hand.
Lorena went into the living room, greeted her cousin and then went straight to the kitchen to see if she could find something to eat.
"Sergio! You didn't order in tonight? You lazy bum. Now I actually have to cook something." Lorena grunted in disappointment.
"Oo can you make some bruschetta? That is the bomb." Sergio asked.
"You're such an ass," Lorena responded laughing.
Cesc went to sit next to Sergio as they began to play some sport game on the television on his playstation three. Boys and their gadgets.
Lorena rolled her eyes and got out all the ingredients for the bruschetta as she began to make it. It was really easy, but it took a few minutes to get all the ingredients prepared. What to make for dinner? She looked in Sergio's fridge and saw tilapia. Perfect. Tilapia with a bit of lemon and some rice, delicious.

After a good thirty minutes of preparing the food for everybody, since she didn't know if Cesc wanted some or not, she guessed he was from the team, it was ready and finished. "A comer muchachos. (Time to eat kids.)" Lorena said as she got out three bottles of beer and put them on the dining table. Both Sergio and Cesc came and thanked the Spaniard for making their food, "you're welcome." She responded.
All three of them ate in silence as they each enjoyed their dinner, Lorena was satisfied with her cooking and it seemed that Sergio and Cesc were as well. She smiled at the boys as they complimented her on the food, "I thought you ate already." Lorena said.
"Lola come on. I'm a growing boy. I always eat." Sergio responded.
"Oh yeah, how could I forget."
"This was delicious." Cesc chimed in.
"Thank you señor." Lorena smiled at the football players.
"Guess what?" Lorena smiled.
Both of the players just looked at her, "you guys are cleaning up!" She clapped her hands and got out of her chair. Both football players chuckled as they began to clean up the dining room and kitchen areas while Lorena watched them from the barstool with ice cream in front of her. Simple ol' vanilla to be exact.
"You're so lucky I love you prima." Sergio said as he put the last dish in the dishwasher.
Lorena looked at her cousin and smiled a big smile and then looked at the time. It was only seven, but nevertheless she was exhausted. Her days usually consist of getting up at four to go running and do exercise since she always got to the shop around six because she couldn't sleep that much and got to work on someone's car.
"Anyway. I'll leave you two dorks to continue playing your game. I'll see you at 2:30 in the morning." Lorena said as she grabbed her luggage and went into one of the many guest rooms that Sergio had in his house.

"See you tomorrow," Sergio said, "buenas noches."
"Hasta mañana." Cesc said as he smiled towards the girl.

As she was walking away, Lorena couldn't help but overhear the footballers talking about her, "she's coming on the trip?" Cesc asked Sergio.
"Yep." Sergio responded.
"And she's going to meet everybody?" Cesc asked again.
"Yep." Was Sergio's response.
"Do you think they'll like her?" Cesc continued to ask.
"Yep."
"Do you think Nando is ready for her?"
"Nope." Sergio chuckled.
"She is supposed to be for Nando, yeah?" Cesc asked.
"I have no idea what you are talking about... I'm bringing my prima because she needs a vacation and I figured, Brazil was the best one for her. Fernando is nowhere near that equation."
"Uhu..." Cesc replied.

Who was Fernando?
