phone calls

I couldn't not pace my room, trying to convince myself I text Alan. It was just a text. A simple text. Should I say hello or hi? Or hey? Okay stop just say hello.

As soon as I sent it I couldn't help but regret it. Collapsing on my bed I let out a groan of frustration. When my phone vibrated I nearly flew out the window. He replied with a "hey!". Excitement filled my bones and little butterflies sputtered around in my small stomach.

When my phone rang and Alan's name appeared I threw myself into a panic.

"No it's ok just be cool." I whispered to myself before putting the phone to my ear. "Hi." it came out squeaky and nervous. Dammit.

"Hey there." small pause, "What are you doing?"

"Just.." I climb into my bed quickly, "laying in bed." you can tell I'm smiling in my voice. I hope he noticed.

"I'd like to be laying with you."

"Huh?" I ask thinking I heard him wrong.

"Nevermind.." he mumbles and I hear laughter in the background.

"Are you busy? Should I let you go? I can go." I jumble my words together.

"NO!" he exclaims.

Insert a long awkward pause here because either of us have no clue what to say.

"Ask her out, man!" I hear a whisper from what I'm guessing is his tall friend.

Alan clears his throat, "So hey do you wanna go out tomorrow or something y'know?"

A wide smile spreads across my face, "Yeah." I tell him.

"Great!" he chuckles softly, "You want me to pick you up?"

"Sure.." I hesitate slightly, "I'll text you my address."

"2 sound good?"

"Mhm." I answer him.

"Okay." he is smiling.

"Okay."

"Bye, Alexis."

"Goodbye.. Alan."

I text him my address before cuddling up in my bed and falling asleep.
