The Black Brick Road

⚈My name is Pandora Li⚈

I tapped my foot against the table leg, trying to keep my self occupied. My elder sister, Emily
cocked her head up at me, glancing up from her studies.

"Alistair, please stop".

I gave her a large grin and continued to hit my foot against the table.

"Why you little-

A knock at the door caught my attention. The knock was faint; almost as though this person
was nervous. I laconically dragged myself out of my seat to open the door.

A young girl, who looked somewhat around my age smiled at me nervously and looked down at
the door mat.
She had long black pigtails that went further than her shoulders, reddish freckles that went just around her nose and a plaid blue dress that had a few dirt spots on it's
skirt. Her long dark bangs covered her cat-like eyes as she lifted her head.

"Hello there, I'm Pandora.. Edgar told me to visit you"

Great, what does that freak want from me.. Someone needs to tell that Oliver kid
not to talk about me.

"I'm Alistair. By any chance, did you just move here"?.. I asked trying to start a conversation.

"Yeah" She said, giving me a faint smile.

"Alistair! Close the door; it's getting drafty" Emily yelled abruptly.

I shut the door in frustrated manner and ran my fingers through my white hair as sat down
on the porch.

"Speaking of Edgar, what else has he said about me"? I asked, giving Pandora a flat expression.
"Um.. He's said quite a lot of great things about you. I remember him saying something about
you being brilliant but very stubborn and curious" she replied cheerfully.

"Obsessive half-wit" I muttered under my breath, thinking of Edgar's sight. "pardon"? Pandora spat out worriedly.

"Nothing, don't you find Oliver to be the least bit strange"? I asked, hoping she would agree.

"Quite" Pandora laughed deviously.

Ah, finally someone who's witnessed the strangeness that is Edgar.

"Not as strange as that woman across the street" Pandora said, lifting her head in the direction of
the house.

Caroline Manchester, a elder woman who lived directly across from me. She rarely ever came out of her house..

I remember that one day when I was walking home from school and I happened to walk by her house. She just sat
there on her porch; almost as if she was dead. To be honest, It was the most awkward experience I've ever had in
my life. I've always wondered what's in that woman's house...

"Right".. I said staring at the house intensively.

"Would you go into her house"? I asked curiously

"Of course not"! Pandora refused, shaking her head. "Great, I'll meet you and Edgar across street at
seven" I smirked. Pandora huffed blowing her bangs out of her face.
