Lone Wolf

Blossom

Keegan woke the next morning with a smile already plastered on her face. Something about waking up next to the Stilinski boy put her in a great mood from the start. Slowly, she rolled over, as to not wake Stiles, and watched him for a few minutes. Slowly, a smile appeared on his face and she couldn't help but wonder what he was dreaming about. He surprised her by letting out a soft laugh and opening his eyes, "I haven't been asleep for a while." Keegan smiled at the boy and moved in closer to plant a kiss on his lips. It took him a few seconds to register, but he draped an arm around her waist, and kissed back. Stiles pulled away from her slowly, causing her to frown, "What's wrong?"

Stiles cleared his throat, and began fumbling with the hem of her shirt, avoiding her gaze, "Um, Derek showed up last night." Keegan raised an eyebrow, staring at him for a few minutes, "What?" Stiles bit his lip and nodded, "Yeah, he wasn't happy... he growled at me a few times."

Keegan narrowed her eyes, "What did he say to you? I'll kill him." Stiles opened and closed his mouth a few times, "Um, he said something about being able to tell that you picked me over him, I don't know..." Keegan frowned and pinched the bridge of her nose, squeezing her eyes shut. She pulled herself in closer to him, "Please don't let him get under your skin."

Stiles exhaled softly, "Okay." Keegan nuzzled her face into his neck and lightly kissed the spot under his ear. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her forehead.

They laid there quietly for a few minutes until Keegan's alarm rang, signaling for them to get ready for school. Keegan groaned and placed her head on Stiles' chest, "Can you ask your Dad to close the school for another day. Please?"

Stiles laughed, "I really wish I could."

Reluctantly, Keegan pulled away from Stiles and sat up from the bed, making her way to the closet. She returned to the bed and saw Stiles laying back, his hands clasped together, twiddling his thumbs, eyes closed. Keegan could read Stiles' expression and that the encounter with Derek had upset him. "Are you alright?"

Stiles opened his eyes, and shrugged, "I think so. Derek is a little heavy handed with the 'rip your throat out with my teeth' line. I'm just worried." Keegan smiled and quickly shook her head, "Don't worry about Derek. He won't hurt you. I promise."

Stiles laughed and sat up on the bed, "Honestly, I don't believe you." Keegan turned away from her dresser and smiled over her shoulder at the boy, "I'm going to get in the shower."

Stiles nodded and watched her as she walked towards the bathroom, "I'm going to run home and get ready. Um, would you like me to drive you to school?"

Keegan couldn't help but smile. She wasn't really ready to admit that Stiles did things to her insides. The way his cheeks would turn red at the slight mention of them doing anything together and how he hesitated asking her simple little questions. She bit her lip, smiling, "Of course Mr. Stilinksi, I would love that!"

His face turned red as he smiled, "Alright, I'll see you in what, about thirty minutes?" Keegan nodded and smiled as he dashed out the door and down the stairs. She laughed loudly, grabbed her towels and turned back to the bathroom.

Thirty minutes later, Keegan met Stiles at her front door and he escorted her to the Jeep. Stiles fidgeted with the radio with one hand, the other drummed against the steering wheel. "Do you think Scott will be at school?" Stiles asked, glancing over at Keegan.

She shrugged, "I dunno. I don't know him as well as you do." Stiles nodded and looked back to the road. Keegan placed her hand on his knee, "Don't worry. I know I sound like a broken record, but we'll figure it out, okay?"

He took her hand in his and squeezed, before he turned to her and gave her a smile that didn't reach his ears. She frowned and squeezed his hand in return, trying to give him confidence, but her attempts didn't work and they spent the rest of the ride in silence. Pulling into the school parking lot, Stiles found a spot close to the door and turned off the Jeep. Keegan glanced over at Stiles, who avoided her gaze and began scanning for Scott.

He quickly turned towards her and smiled, "Listen Keegan, I'm sorry. I'm just distracted." Keegan nodded and took it upon herself to get out of the Jeep. She shut the door roughly and swung her back over her shoulder as she stalked away. Stiles jumped from the Jeep, and began following her, gently grabbing at her arm.

She swung around violently and glared at the boy, who in turn immediately dropped his hand, "Keegan, look, I am sorry. I really am distracted. Between you and Scott..."

Keegan bit her lip and stared at the boy, "What do I have to do with this?"

Stiles' face changed to a dark shade of red, "I, uh-, well-, I mean..."

Keegan blinked and shook her head, rolling her eyes in the process of turning away from the boy, "I'll see you in class, okay?"

Stiles nodded, before shoving his hands back into his pockets, watching her walk away. He wasn't sure how long he had stood there for, but by the time he went back to his Jeep for his backpack the warning bell rang.

Throughout the day, anytime Stiles passed Keegan in the hall she would give him the same small, weak smile he had given her earlier. He wasn't sure what he had done to make her so upset at him, and the thought of him confronting her made him anxious. He kept telling himself to build up the courage to stop her and talk to her, but he chickened out. He finally dug his heels into the ground and confronted her at lunch. He spotted her sitting at a small table with Allison and Lydia, he took a deep breath and made his way over to them.

Stiles stopped just behind the brunette and opened his mouth to speak when Allison spotted him, "Hey Keegan... Stiles wants to talk to you."

Keegan turned on the bench and looked up at Stiles, "Hey."

He smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets, "Hey, you have a second?"

Keegan pursed her lips, and glanced back over at Lydia, who raised her eyebrows, encouraging the girl to go with him, "Yeah, what's up?"

Stiles gently grabbed her by the elbow and steered her a few feet away from the eavesdropping girls. "Keegan, I don't know what to say other than I am sorry. Scott is my best friend and I won't be 'back to normal' until I, we, figure out what the hell is going on to him and in this town. I don't know what to do and you are the only person, other than Derek, who can help; and he scares me. I have so much going through my head right now and the way I feel about you is clouding my mind."

Keegan's hard stare softened, "Stiles, you, you are adorable! You don't have to worry about Derek and his empty threats. He won't hurt you, I can guarantee that," She placed her hands on his arms and leaned over and kissed his cheek, "I understand where you are coming from. Everything is piling up and quickly." Stiles nodded, and allowed her to drag him back to the table, where Scott joined them a few minutes later. Lydia slid over and allowed Stiles to sit between her and Keegan.

"So, what is everyone doing this weekend? Maybe we can all go out to the movies?" Allison asked, glancing around the table. Lydia smiled and waved her off, "After what happened last week with Jackson, I'm going to have to opt out. Bowling is one thing..." Keegan covered her mouth with her hand and shrugged, "I'm up for it.. I guess." Allison smiled so widely at her that she started to squint and her nose wrinkled, "Awesome! So, what else is there to do for fun in this town?" Keegan glanced between the group, "Eh, it's a 4 hour drive to the coast... not really worth it for one day especially if our parents won't let us get a hotel."

"I don't think my parents would be okay with that, not yet at least... what about camping? Are you allowed to camp at the Reserve?" Keegan felt her insides go cold. Camping in someone's backyard is one thing, but camping at the reserve was another. The two boys glanced at each other then over to Keegan, "We try to stay as far away from the Reserve as possible. Besides, it's closed after dark and you have to have all these permits and licenses..." Allison started at Keegan, furrowing her brows, trying to read her facial expression.

Stiles cleared his throat, "Keegan tries to stay away from the Reserve as much as possible... it's um," He glanced over at Keegan, who looked down at her lap and bit his lip, "It holds a lot of bad memories."

Allison nodded, understanding, "Oh, I see... well maybe we can take a daytrip and go hiking."

The bell rang and the boys were courteous by taking the girl's trays to the kitchen and waited for them inside the cafeteria. Keegan placed her bag over her shoulder and waited for Allison. "So, is the Reserve really a place that holds bad memories?"

Keegan looked over at the girl, frowning, "Yes and no. My mom died in the Hale family fire when I was younger; and the forest is creepy at night. Things that shouldn't go bump do."

Allison matched her pace, and shrugged, "Well, from what I hear you are a great marksman and I am good with a bow. I think we could protect those two if anything came along, don't you?"

Keegan raised her eyebrows, "You can shoot a bow? I've always wanted to learn!"

The tall brunette smiled, "Oh, you have to come over and see it. I'm sure my parents, my Dad especially, would love to meet you. He's a private arms dealer and LOVES his guns!"

Keegan couldn't help but smile, maybe Mr. Argent could take her out shooting and maybe show her some new tricks. They met up with the boys at the cafeteria entrance and they both gave her hopeful looks that she successfully persuaded Allison the Reserve was a bad idea; what they got was Keegan solemnly shaking her head. Stiles glanced over at Scott who in turn looked at him: getting Allison's mind of camping was going to take some time, and convincing.

As the final bell rang, Stiles found himself running from the Chemistry lab to Keegan's locker. He casually leaned against her locker, wheezing, as she approached. Furrowing her eyebrows, Keegan stared at him, "Did you really just run from class, just so you could meet me at my locker...?" Stiles nodded and placed his hands on his knees, bending over to catch his breath, causing Keegan to laugh, "You do know that you could have just walked with me instead of putting yourself through all this trouble, right?"

She opened her locker and placed her books inside the small metal rectangle, before snapping the door shut, "Are you going to be okay?" Stiles stood up and nodded, finally catching his breath. Keegan laughed and followed him as he went to his locker, "Alright, are you ready?" Stiles stood there, waiting for her to answer.

"OH, you're giving me a ride home too!?" She placed a hand on his chest, "You are too sweet, Stilinski."

Stiles' face turned red and shook his head, "You're weird." Keegan playfully smacked his arm and walked away from him, "Are you coming?" Stiles grabbed his backpack, slung it over his shoulder and followed her out to the parking lot.

"So, do you think we're all going to go through with camping at the reserve?" Stiles asked, glancing over at Keegan.

She shrugged, "I don't know... I tried telling her that it was a bad idea, but she won't listen and she thinks that we can handle it, if anything happens." They grew quiet and both had the same thought in their mind: 'Whatever, or whomever, bit Scott was still out there and would it attack again?'

The Jeep idled in the driveway of the Kennedy house, and they sat inside quietly. Stiles sat in the drivers' seat habitually biting at his nails; Keegan turned in her seat and watched him, and placed a hand on his knee, "Are you okay?"

He jumped at her touch and turned towards her, giving her a small smile. Instantly Keegan frowned and gave him a knowing look. Stiles sighed, rolled his eyes and dropped his hand from his mouth, "I'm alright Keegan, really!" He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Liar," she muttered, loud enough for him to hear.

Stiles laughed and smiled, "I'm sorry. I'm just exhausted. I haven't been sleeping well and I definitely didn't sleep well last night. I'm scared; like really scared."

Keegan gently placed a hand on his shoulder, "Take a deep breath, and calm down. Getting yourself worked up doesn't help, trust me. I know it sucks, but you make do with what you have and they understand that. If they don't then they aren't worth it, okay?"

Stiles nodded and she swore she could see a tear streak down his face. Quickly he wiped at his eyes and turned towards her, "Thank you Keegan."

She winked at the boy, "Don't worry about it. I'm here for you if you need anything."

Suddenly, Stiles pressed his lips against hers and she instinctually closed her eyes. His hand found its way to her cheek, which he gently stroked with his thumb. Keegan couldn't help but moan into the kiss, causing Stiles to kiss her harder. When they broke apart, they both were out of breath. A blush crept across their cheeks as they righted themselves. "Sorry," he mumbled, fiddling with the steering wheel.

Keegan placed her hand on his arm and bit at her lip. He turned to look at her, his eyebrows raised. "Please, do not apologize for kissing me, ever."

Stiles nodded before she pulled him over to her and kissed him. Keegan was pulled onto Stiles' lap during the kiss and when they broke apart, she couldn't help but giggle at the goofy grin on his face. Placing her hands on his chest, she leaned her head and rested it on his shoulder, snuggling into his neck. He rested his hands on her waist and played with the hem of her shirt. Keegan sat up, awkwardly in his lap, "I should probably get going, or we'll be here all night..."

Stiles brought a hand to her cheek again and leaned in, softly kissing her before helping Keegan back into the passenger seat. She opened the door of the Jeep and turned back to Stiles, winking as she grabbed her belongings, "If you'd like, you can come over whenever you'd like."

Stiles nodded, and quickly grabbed her wrist. Stopping, she turned back to face him, halfway outside the Jeep and raised an eyebrow. He leaned across the Jeep, his hands still clutching her wrist and brought her in for a kiss, "I'll see you later."

Keegan nodded and jumped from the Jeep, waving to the boy as she unlocked her door and watched him pull out of the driveway. Turning back to the house she opened the door and let out a scream when she saw her father standing just inside the doorway. She placed a hand to her chest, "You scared the crap out of me!" Mr. Kennedy gave her a small smile, before crossing his arms over his chest, frowning. Keegan placed her bag on the floor, and kicked her shoes off and placed them near the bottom of the stairs, "What's wrong?"

"I think you should just tell me what's going on."

Keegan glanced up at her Dad, a worried expression on her face, "I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean." He raised an eyebrow at her, telling her to cut the crap. Keegan sighed deeply, "Listen, I didn't mean for him to sleep over, we just happened to fall asleep watching TV, nothing happened I swear."

Mr. Kennedy nodded, "Wait, what?"

Keegan's eyes widened in shock and mild horror, "What do you mean?"

Mr. Kennedy frowned, "I was talking about the little position you were just in with Mr. Stilinksi... wait, he slept over last night?" Keegan's mouth dropped, "Oh, you didn't know about last night... you were talking about what just happened..." He shook his head, and rubbed his face, "Are you two at least using protection?"

"WHAT!?"

He glanced at her, confused, "So, you two aren't sleeping together? Are you two even dating?"

Keegan laughed hard, before shaking her head.

Mr. Kennedy frowned at her and sighed deeply, "Alright, you two aren't sleeping together but you have feelings for each other. It's only a matter of time until you guys get to that point, then I will start worrying." He kissed her forehead and excused her from the hallway.

"Dad, I am sorry. He's at a bad spot and he is going to kill himself if someone doesn't start taking care of him."

He waved her off again, "Keegan, we both know you can take care of yourself and you aren't about to let someone go without some type of help. It's okay if he comes over, even at night, I trust you; and I love you. Now let's make this less awkward, go do whatever and I'll start dinner."

She smiled up at her father and grabbed her things from the staircase, "Love you Dad!"

Entering her bedroom, she threw her bag onto the bed and plopped down next to it, letting out a deep sigh, 'I can't believe he thinks we're having sex.' Keegan couldn't help but smile; sex with Stiles was something that hadn't crossed her mind, and now she couldn't help but think how awkward that situation would be when they, or if they, even came to that point.
