Things Change

Noelle stuck her tablet in the window to keep it from closing all the way so she could get back in later and made her way down the tree. She had known the tree like the back of her hand considering all the times she had used it to sneak out with Toby. Looking around one last time she ran to the corner where Toby usually parked his car.

“Took you long enough.” He said opening the door for her. This had been the most run down car she had ever been in there was a foul smell in it, the passenger seat door nor window worked and the only way you could get out was if the driver came around and opened it so basically this was the perfect kidnap car

“I had to make sure I had a way in the house you know so I won’t be locked out.”

“Well…darling what’s the destination for tonight’s journey?” he looked over at her their eyes met and they held it for a while before looking away she always wondered how he could act so normal after they had just had one of their moments while it left her heart beating uncontrollably. Noelle had liked Toby from the moment they had met sometimes she found herself imaging what it would like to be his girlfriend.

“Well since you asked so nicely I say you choose.”

“Flower field it is.” He said driving off.

They sat there lying in the flowers staring at the stars occasionally starting a conversation and enjoying each other company.

“Remember when we ran away.” Noelle asked breaking the silence and causing Toby to turn his head in her direction

“Yea what about.”

“Why did we come back?”

There wasn’t a response for a while so she took it as he was thinking about what to say finally he spoke “I wish I could give you a reason why but I just don’t know.” She didn’t say anything so instead she just shook her head. Noelle knew there was a reason but he just didn’t want to say it so she just left it alone. She had tried many attempts to get an answer from him before but always got the say answer which was I wish I could give you a reason why but I just don’t know
