There's been Scout and Ruben, always. Close in years, in hiking adventures, in living situations, and that world's always been a constant, even if Scout doesn't count in constants anymore as much as he counts in the moments that really matter. The Observer and The Do-er: nothing could explain their relationship better.

But Scout doesn't think he can explain their relationship no matter how hard he tries. Because 'friend' or 'brother' doesn't cut it as much as it could've anymore. He thinks they'll always just be half a world away.
