I Can't Believe How Bad You Got Me

The Dungey Eyes

I was in the hospital a few extra days then what I was with Riley. This was expected though. I was never so happy to be released! I wanted to take my babies home… and try this whole, three babies at one time thing out. Throughout my stay, Jake voiced to me that he was so excited to take care of them once we were out of here.

The second we walked through the door, Kirstie and my brother were there with Jackson. Riley squealed and went running over to her Auntie. Kirstie smiled and picked her up and gave her a few kisses. Ryan, however, saw that I was carrying one of the babies and rushed over to take the car seat from me.

“Ry, I got it!” I shot at him.

“You just had three babies!” he countered.

“I’m fine!” I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I tried to tell her, I’d go back and get him,” Jake spoke up, bringing in the other two.

“Stubborn,” Ryan sent me a playful glare.

“They’re my babies! I can take care of them!” I threw back.

“Hormones. Control them,” he chuckled since I snapped at him… again.

“Why are you here?” I huffed.

“We thought, maybe you guys could use a little help while you adjusted to having new babies around,” he answered.

“Really?” I raised an eyebrow at him.

“I think it’s just an excuse to see Jake more…” Kirstie spoke up.

“Jeez, Ryan,” I teased.

“That’s not it!” he bickered.

“Aw, Ry, you care,” Jake cooed as he was unbuckling Logan and Lucas from their car seats.

Before Jake could grab one, Ryan put Leland down and scooped up Lucas. Jake watched and couldn’t help but smile as Ryan cooed at him.

“I think he has a favorite,” my husband smirked.

“I do not! I love them all!” he countered.

“Lucas Ryan…” Jake kept going.

“That doesn’t mean I have a favorite!”

“I do think Lucas looks a bit like a Dungey though…” Kirstie stepped in.

“Well, Ky was a Dungey…” Jake couldn’t hold his tongue.

“He has the Dungey eyes…” I spoke up.

“But the longest eyelashes…” Ryan chuckled as he looked down at my son.

“That’s how we tell them apart,” Jake replied as he managed to scoop the other two babies up in his arms.

“And their hair. Lucas’ is a little darker and Leland has shorter hair,” I told them and sat next to Jake.

“And Logan just has the fullest head of blond curls… Wonder where he gets that from…” Kirstie snickered.

“ME!” Riley shouted, smiling brightly.

“I think you get it from Daddy…” I grinned as well and pulled her into my lap.

“Nu uh,” she shook her head.

I glanced over at Jake to see him smiling at his daughter. Once she stopped shaking her head, he leaned over and gave her cheek a soft kiss. The scruff on his face prickled at her delicate skin. Giggling, she pushed his face away. Gently, I took Leland away from him so that he could cradle his daughter. She kept laughing while her father planted kiss after kiss upon her little face.

It suddenly hit me then that… we now have three little babies in his house… plus Riley. This could be a challenge, but… I love all of them so much. It may take some time for us to adjust. I’m sure we’ll pull through though. Our little Weimer family just leaped in the number count, but it’s so perfect and I feel so lucky to have all of them in my life.
