I Can't Believe How Bad You Got Me

I Don't Care What You Think

“Riley, girl, what do you want for dinner?” I called out to her.

I was currently in the kitchen with Logan nuzzled into the baby wrap that I had around my chest. He was sleepy, suckling at his little pacifier every so often. Riley was in charge of entertaining the other two. From the sounds of it… it’s going ok… kind of.

“I don’t know,” was her reply.

“I can’t fix I don’t know,” I huffed and opened the cupboards, trying to get an idea.

“Well!” I could only imagine her shrugging like I do.

Well, ok then. I’m at this one on my own. Jake was still off riding, testing some new setups. This meant that he was going to be gone later than usual. Awesome. I shook that thought aside though. I got babies to take care of. And right now, one of them is rather fussy. I stopped my search and went into the living room to tend to the needy boy. Once I had gotten into the room, someone knocked on the door. Really?!

“I’ll get it!” Riley shouted and went running off before I could stop her.

When she opened it though, it sounded like her auntie and uncle were at the door.

“Someone’s cranky,” I heard Kirstie giggle as she came in and picked Leland up who was throwing a fit.

“They’ve been good today though,” I sighed and bounced Logan.

“Where’s Jake?” Ryan asked, walking into the room with a big brown bag in his hand and Jackson in his other arm.

“What’s that?” I changed subjects.

“Where’s Jake?” he repeated and put Jackson down to play with Riley.

“Riding,” I gave him his answer. “What’s in the bag?” I asked once more.

“Dinner,” he smiled.

“What?” I wrinkled my brow up.

“Kirstie cooked… and we brought it here to share with you,” he smiled way too brightly.

“… What?!” What is going on?

“We know Jake’s slacking, so… we’re trying to help,” he explained.

“I don’t need help,” I told him while following him into the kitchen.

He just looked at me sideways while a playful smirk took over his face. I hate when he gives me that look!

“Really, it’s nice of you guys, but…”

“Just accept our love, Ky!” he cut me off, making his wifey giggle.

All I could do was roll my eyes. Well, at least I didn’t have to cook tonight… All eight of us managed to fit at the dinner table. Things were going rather smoothly. As they ate, Riley and Jackson talked about riding. I caught my brother glancing over at them, smiling. Aw! I wish Jake made time to take Riley out riding…

“So, how’s the again momma to be?” I spoke up once forks started to fall onto the plates.

“Good,” Kirstie replied, sending me a bright smile. “I’m still getting morning sickness, but…” she trailed off shrugging.

“I didn’t have any with the boys,” I snickered.

“Yeah, I know. Thanks for reminding me,” she shot back teasingly.

“She’s doing fine though,” Ryan spoke up and I can only assume that he reached over under the table to place his hand on her knee.

I let them have their little moment. My attention went down to Logan. He was still wrapped up in the carrier, cooing up at me. His big blue eyes were just shining back at me. My baby’s so cute.

“So… I think you should talk to Jake,” Ryan changed subjects.

“I talk to him every night…” I couldn’t help but poke.

“No, like… tell him that you need him home,” he countered.

“But I don’t need him home…”

“I think you do,” he kept going.

“I don’t care what you think,” I couldn’t help but giggle.

“Just talk to him…” he said with sincerity in his eyes.

Shortly after he spoke, I heard Jake’s truck pull in. I glanced over at Ryan to see that sincerity in his eyes quickly leave. I didn’t want to keep looking. I could just tell that he wasn’t happy with Jake now. We’re fine. We’ll manage.

When he walked in, Riley squealed and rushed over to him. Jake smiled and picked her up, giving her cheeks so many kisses. Once he stopped, he came over to me, smiling even brighter before he bent down and pecked at my lips.

“I wasn’t expecting everyone to be here,” he snickered once we parted and managed to take Lucas away from Kirstie.

“We were getting ready to leave,” was Ryan’s reply.

“Oh…” Jake seemed a bit… affected by my brother’s words.

I know that they haven’t seen much of each other lately… and I know why. I don’t have the heart to tell Jake though. It’s mainly because I don’t know how he’ll react. The last thing I wanted right now was drama; especially with three babies… and Kirstie currently carrying one.
