Phillip,

I only wish school was square here. There's a lot of beatniks and nature kids. You know, with the long hair and the cigarettes behind their ears. Have they always been here, or am I just starting to notice it because you're gone...?

There's an eerie emptiness in the house since you guys left. (and by the way, please send my love to your momma as well.) Now I'm the only one under the age of thirty!

I've thought about what you said about making friends. I try to, I really do. But momma's so strict with everything, even how I dress, and the girls at school are looser. They're lucky. I wish I had their parents to let me dress how I like. There is this one girl in my english class. She seems nice. Maybe I'll try talking to her.

How's Ohio? The trees are just starting to shed their leaves. Whenever I see them I start thinking of you because I know this is your favorite type of weather. And I only hope you're right, that these two years will fly by. I'd like nothing more than to kill an afternoon just sitting and listening to music.

Take care,
Betsy
