Surrender, My Love

Chapter Five

I woke up next morning with a pounding headache and curled up next to a hard, but yet warm body. 'This feels amazing!' I thought to myself momentarily. Just then I jumped up hitting my head against the person I was snuggled next to.

"Ow damn," the male voice said looking up at me.

I would've died right then and there if my headache wasn't distracting me.

"Oh my god, this can't happening!" I groaned. "How the hell could I sleep with you!"

"You should've seen how you were acting last night, then you would have been really embarrassed." Damian yawned leaning back on the leather coach in his home office.

"Shut up," I snapped while pulling a t shirt over myself. "I'm going to need a ride back to my place."

"Call a cab," Damian got comfy on his couch while only wearing his boxers.

"You are such a pig!" I seethed stomping up the stairs to the room I was supposed to occupy last night. "I'm such an idiot!" I said to myself close to tears. If having him rescue me from some random guy last night wasn't bad enough, I slept with the biggest d-bag that I had ever met!

I quickly got dressed in my clothes from the previous night and called Cynthia, normally would have called Lola but seeing as how she was out of the country that wasn't an option.

After giving Cynthia the address I headed down the stairs to the foyer to wait on my assistant to pick me up. 'I must look pretty damn pathetic,' I thought to myself.

"So about last night," Damian started coming up behind me.

"It never happened," I finished spinning around to face him.

"If you say so," he said running a hand through his hair. "But don't forget there's a meeting at Lodge Corporation Monday."

"And for the record what happened last night was a mistake, a drunken mistake." I narrowed my eyes at the still shirtless Damian.

"You sure about that?" He asked sauntering his way over to me. "From what I remember you're the one that threw yourself at me."

His hot breath sent shivers down my spine causing me to shudder. In all honestly if I could construct the perfect man, Damian Lodge would be it but the personality was a deal breaker.

"I'm sure you think that about all the girls you sleep with," I pushed him off of me as I heard Cynthia honking her car horn.

"Wouldn't you like to know," he winked at me. Giving him a look of disgust I opened the door and hurried to Cynthia's awaiting black Mercedes SUV.

I gave Cynthia vague details, and by vague I mean 75 percent of what I told her was a straight up lie.

I thanked her for the ride back to my condo in the city. Just as I was stepping out of the shower my home phone began to ring. "Hey Liv," I answered the phone for a close of friend of both Lola and I.

Olivia Parsons was a friend I've known for at least ten years, she just recently found out that she and her husband Marco were unable to have children. According to Lola they planned to find a surrogate, because apparently they were desperate have a biological baby before they tried adoption.

"I was wondering if you wanted to meet Marco and I for dinner tonight at eight?" Liv asked, something in her voice was a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Sure I can do that. Any particular reason why?" I questioned.

"We have a favor to ask of you, but it's something that we can only ask face to face," she explained.

"Okay well I'll see you tonight." We said our goodbyes and I started to get ready for tonight.

"How do I look Coco?" I asked my bulldog puppy that I had acquired last month. Who needs a man when you have a puppy?

I applied another coat of mascara before grabbing my purse and heading down to my Porsche and driving to the restaurant.

"Hi," Olivia jumped up to give me a hug as did her husband. "Hello it's good to see you both again," I smiled.

"So what did you need to ask me?" I asked glancing over the menu.

"Let's wait till after dinner," Marco said after the couple shared a nervous glance.

After eating it was finally time for them to tell what they needed me to do for them. "Maxie you have been one of the closest friends I have had," Olivia began. "I have you to think getting my boutique off the ground and helping me meet my best friend," she stared lovingly into Marco's eyes.

"You also take incredible care of yourself and are so healthy I can't imagine how you do it," she continued. "And our favor requires someone who is strong physically and mentally." She took a breath before giving me a warm smile, "We want you to be our surrogate, we want you to carry our baby."

"We completely understand if you don't want to do it," Marco added.

A million thoughts were running through my head but looking at the two people before me I couldn't help but nod my head 'yes.'

"Hey Marco, Olivia." A familiar voice said causing me to break away from my thoughts. 'This guy has got to be stalking me' I said to myself as Damian gave Olivia a kiss on the cheek before laying eyes on me.

"Hello Miss. Barrett, fancy meeting you here," Damian gave me his signature coy smile. "Likewise Mr. Lodge," I responded. Damian noticed the slightly worried expression on my face and changed his demeanor.

"You two know each other?" Olivia asked. "Yes we are in the beginning stages of a business arrangement that we've both agreed to," he answered not breaking his gaze away from me.

"Well you'll never believe what Maxie has just agreed to do for us!" Olivia bounced up and down excitedly. "She's agreed to be surrogate, she's going to give us a baby!" Olivia was near tears of joy as she said the words.

"Wow," was all that came from Damian's mouth as he stared at me with a mix of 'are you serious' and 'you're insane.'

"Th-that's great," he stammered. "Well I have to get back to some business partners I was dining with. I'll see you all later and congratulations." With that he headed back to his table across the restaurant.

Olivia and Marco began to ramble excitedly, well mostly Olivia, about baby clothes, names and how to design the nursery.
