When you’re a military girlfriend, your phone becomes like an extension of your body. You always have it on your person, or it’s within reaching distance at all times and never on silent. Just the thought of missing that one phone call makes your hands tremble a little. You’re never sure when it’s going to ring; it could be one o’clock in the afternoon, or in the fading hours of the night. The time the call comes through doesn’t mean a thing; because all that really matters is hearing his voice.
