Thursday Writing

Tell a Tree a Secret

I walk alone
Pondering my thoughts

I find a quiet shady spot under a giant oak tree
I have a secret
I must let it go

I look up to the oak tree
It seems sturdy
Loyal
Able to keep a secret or two

I whisper my message
I let my voice be carried by the wind
The leaves ruffle
I think my memo was received

I say it louder
Now I know the tree heard me
I say it even louder
And louder
I yell it
Scream it to the world

The guilt
The pressure
The uncertainty
Gone
Free
Secret’s out.
