Have You No Idea That You're In Deep?

I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I usually wasn’t an angry person, in fact, I was the exact opposite. I was mellow and I usually let things slide. But for some stupid reason, I felt bad for lashing out. I rolled over in bed and looked at the ceiling, maybe I should apologize tomorrow. Brian did say she didn’t mean it, and that day had been a generally bad day for me, but that still didn’t give me the excuse. Sighing, I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.

As I dreamt, there was a woman standing in front of me, her bright blue eyes shone and scowled at me, she walked towards me and she put a cold hand on my face. I tried to run away, but my legs just kept kicking at emptiness.

“You will regret what you’ve done.” She said, her fingernails digging deeper into my skin, “You must apologize. Το μόνο συγχώρεση είναι η αγάπη.” She hissed.

My face began to numb from her cold fingers, I opened my mouth to ask what or rather who she was, but as I tried to choke out the words, the freezing cold air would travel down my throat, freezing my vocal chords and forbidding me to speak.

I shook my head and jolted upwards in my bed. I sighed and rubbed my face together only to feel that my usually calloused hands were now soft. Looking down at my hands, I saw that my large hands were replaced by small, dainty one with the fingernails painted navy blue.

“Andromeda and Tryphon argued in front of such fountain only to find out that when they awoke, they were switched in each other’s body.”

“Oh fuck no.” I threw the sheets off me and ran to the bathroom, I looked at the bathroom mirror and saw that my green eyes had been replaced by brown eyes, my hair was now long and maroon. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” I screamed.

Running back to the bedroom, I noticed that my walls were no longer a grimy white, they were now a pastel pink, with a fair amount of polaroid pictures on the wall full of more fake than real friends. I fell on the floor and stared at the room that was not mine.

“No, no, no.” I whined, “This can’t be happening.”

For hours, I sat on the floor, my head against the headboard of the enormous bed as I stared at the room in disgust and disbelief. If I hadn’t opened my big mouth and argued with Camilla this would’ve never happened. I would be in my room, in my nice, dirty and disgusting room full of things to do. But instead, I’m in a girl’s body and in her overly neat room.

When my stomach rumbled, I walked down the stairs to see if there was anyone home, but when I reached the bottom of the stairs, I saw that there were a plate of pancakes sitting on the counter along with a note. Snatching it off the table, I scanned over it quickly,

Hey Cam, another thirty six hour shift. I’ll make it up to you next weekend, I promise. Love, Dad.

I sat on the kitchen stool and stared at the food. It looked great, this guy even took the time to cut up strawberries and blueberries and put them in a separate bowl. Just as I was about to eat them, there was a knock on the door. I looked up and looked around, as if I was expecting anyone to answer. Getting up from the seat hesitantly, I walked slowly to the door and turned the knob to see that my body was standing right in front of me.

“I could smack you right across the face right now and I would have no remorse!” My body growled, walking in the front door and continuing to yell at me, “You did this to me!”

“I did not do this to you! You did it first! Dragging me into the damn fountain with you!”

“You’re the one who started the argument! Plus, I didn’t pay Andy Sickle to push me into the freaking water!”

I snorted, which only made Camilla give me the glare of death, “Do you think this is funny?!”

“You said freaking, what are you, twelve?”

She huffed out in anger and began to pace back in the living room, “This can’t be happening.”

“Tell me about it.”

“Do you even know how putrid your room smells?!”

“Thank you.” I grinned.

Camilla threw her hands up in anger again, sitting down on the couch and crossing her arms. “I have a date tonight.”

“You mean I have a date tonight?”

“I’m canceling it.”

“No way. I can attend your date.”

“You need to shower.”

“I don’t see the problem.”

“I don’t want you seeing me naked.” She pouts.

“So what? We’re just not going to shower until we fix this thing?”

“Exactly.”

“Sorry what? It could take months.”

“Not if we do enough research.”

I scoffed and took a seat next to her, “Research can take weeks. And even then, we still won’t be sure if it even works.”

“So what are we suggesting we do?”

“Research like you said before, and up until we find how to actually reverse this...this curse...we do it and we act like this never happened.”

“But how long?”

“Well it won’t be long to find a book about Greek Mythology.”

“The story of Andromeda and Tryphon is rare. It took years to even find The Fountain of Equality under the debris.”

“With the right help, we could do it in months. Maybe.”

“So what do we do right now?”

“Go home. Take a shower and meet back here so we can research properly.”

Camilla scrunched her nose, “Then that would mean-”

“Yes. You have to see my penis.” I rolled my eyes, “You’ll live. It can’t be the first time you’ve seen a penis before.”

She looked down at the floor and shuffled her feet, I raised an eyebrow, “You’re joking?”

“It’s a choice, alright?” She snapped, “What will you do?”

“I’ll take a shower and call your boyfriend to reschedule the date.”

“You’re not showering.” She said, standing up and towering over me.

“Fucking watch me.”

“If we’re going to be each other you can’t curse.”

“If we’re going to be each other you can’t use words like ‘freaking’, I’m a grown ass man.”

“Fine.”

I nodded, “Fine. See you here at oh nine hundred.”

“What?”

I shook my head, sighing in aggravation, “Nothing. Just be here.”

kidding, but seriously come on, be a good sport and play the waiting game

AND ALSO, I've been told in the past that this story is a lot like "It's a Boy Girl Thing" and when I looked it up today it almost had the exact same damn plot. But the ending is not going to be like that. It's going to devastate you.
