Blood Spells

The Six Elements

Two women sat in the light of the moon,
Hoping their summoning would begin soon.
"Fire," one witch called out, the other lighting a wick,
"Bring your heat and warmth, come to us quick!"
Fire flew from the lit wick, spinning around the two,
It was amazing, the things that they could do.
"Water," the next witch spoke, lighting the candle aflame,
"Make us like you - calm, but forever un-tame!"
With a fierce boom, water poured from the sky,
Yet it did not touch them nor the candles, leaving them dry.
"Earth, our Mother Mighty," the first let the third candle ignite,
"Bring us to our roots, and let our past and future unite!"
The earth around them, once calm, began to shake,
Then split around them, creating a strange sort of break.
"Air," the second witch grinned, setting the fourth candle ablaze,
"Purify us and give us life for the rest of our days!"
The wind blew, playfully touching their hair,
It was so beautiful - they just wanted to stare.
"Metal," the first witch beamed, setting the fifth candle alight,
"Give us your strength and power, that we may be close to your might."
From the earth, bits of metal poked through, reaching out to them,
Each piece as bright as a shining gem.
The two witches set the final flame ablaze, then grasped one another's hand,
This was perfect, this was the plan.
"Spirit," the two spoke in sync,
The elements around them raged - they were on the brink.
"The one who gives us life, who holds the world in check,
And keep us from being a total wreck.
We call onto you for power, love, and eternal blessing,
To follow through with this, without all the guessing."
The elements around them surged, pushing and pulling each other,
They swirled around, dancing, creating an image: nature's mother.
The two witches knew what this meant: it was not the end,
But rather, it was where it will begin.

This was written by the lovely MerlinWeasley so all the credits go to her. When I was planning out the story with my co-author, I thought why not post a poem based around the elements instead of the prologue? I had honestly forgotten how amazing Erin's poems were till she asked me to read one of her poems. This girl is doing amazing work so check her poems out, okay? ::cute:
