Live, Laugh, Love

Live, Laugh, Love chp.4

Whatever I had thought kissing Rob would be like, it definitely wasn’t this. He was so good at it.

And when our lips finally parted, unwillingly, we were both smiling. “Wow.” I said.

He smiled. “Wow yourself.”

I blushed. “What?” he asked. “Why do you blush when I give you a compliment? You’re a model. Don’t you know how great you are?” he asked me, taking my face in his hand.

“How would you know?” I asked, defensive. I didn’t know why. “You met me yesterday.”

“And yet I felt like I’ve known you my whole life.” He mumbled.

“Stop that.” I said.

“Stop what?” he asked, frustrated.

“I… Robert,” I said, looking into his eyes. “This hasn’t happened to me in a long time. I haven’t been in love for a while. And well, I… I don’t know if I know how.”

He looked back at me, calm and sure. “If you truly loved me, you wouldn’t need to know how.” He said.

I smiled. “You’re right. I guess I just need time to… I don’t know,”

“Get to know me?” he added for me.

“Yes.” I said. “I really, truly DO want to know you, Robert. And I really like you. But maybe we could just start off as friends.” His face fell slightly. Then he brightened. I could almost see a plan forming in his head.

“No.” he said, firm.

“What?”

“No, I will not be your friend unless you date me.”

“Wha-“ I started to say.

“I’m dead serious. If you want to know me, you’ll have to take everything. It’s all or nothing. I’m not going to be strung along.”

“How dare you? Don’t tell me what I will or will not do.”

“Take it or no deal.” He said stubbornly, jutting out his lower lip. In this moment he looked completely hilarious and adorable, and I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. I went over the facts in my head. Robert was a really nice guy, and I really liked him. That should have been enough in itself. And in that moment, it was. Today, I was the happiest I’ve been in a while. It felt like Rob brought that on. I couldn’t help but grin as I made my decision in my head. He sat there, waiting patiently, still pouting.

“Ok. Put away the lower lip.” I said. He smiled and looked at me. I groaned and grabbed a pillow. “Yes, I want to date you.” I said into the pillow, it was barely audible.

“I’m sorry,” Rob said, grabbing the pillow “What was that?”

I looked down. “I’ll date you.” I said, this time he heard me. He smiled and grabbed my face between his hands before bringing our lips together again.

This time he wasn’t so sweet. He knotted his fingers in my hair as our breath came in wild gasps. He moved his lips to my neck to kiss me there, and I moaned in response. He smiled, obviously happy with the progress he was making. When he pulled back, I whimpered. I truly wanted him to keep going. But he just smiled and climbed off the bed.

“Where are you going?” I asked as he walked out into the living room.

He ignored me, so I followed him out to the living room. I automatically scanned the room, when I found him by the door. He was getting his shoes on.

“What?” I said, disbelieving. “You’re leaving?” I asked, my voice full of hurt.

He looked at me and sighed. “I’m just going to go down to my room and get a change of clothes, love.” He said. “I can’t leave tomorrow in the same clothes I came in… What would the neighbors think?” he chuckled.

“You’re staying here tonight?” my voice was nervous.

His tone got teasing. “Well, babe, when you’re dating someone, usually you sleep in the same room with that person.” He laughed.

“Wait, wait, wait. You’re just inviting yourself to sleep in my bed?” I asked him, shocked. I had never met anyone so straightforward.

“I think you have it right.” He smiled and walked over to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I placed my arms around his neck in response. “It feels like the only way I’m ever going to get to spend any time with you is if I take it upon myself to set it up.” He chuckled, his hot breath going all over the skin at my neck and giving me Goosebumps. “I know it’s not very gentlemanly, but I really want to be with you, Rachael. I enjoy it” He said. “By the way, what is your middle name?” he whispered in my ear.

“Isabelle.” I whispered back.

“Well, Rachael Isabelle Banes, I’ll be right back.” He walked to the door.

“Rob!” he turned around.

“Yes?” he asked, confused.

“Hurry back.” I said, smiling. He was grinning from ear to ear as he stepped out the door. I stared after him for a few moments, then I knew I needed to get some things straight before he came back and messed my thought process up.

I really like Robert. A lot. And even though I hated admitting this to myself, I really did want to be with him. In a relationship. He made me smile. Even now, I wanted him here. Even though I knew he’d be right back, I still wanted his presence. Oh My God. I am such a loser. I thought to myself before going to stand by the door to wait for him to get back.
