And We Were Flames.

Birds

Part 2
“This is also the last text any of you will receive in my class, phones off”
Emily sat looking out the window of her new English class.
She didn’t own a phone, her father suggested it would be safer without one.
The teacher, Ms. Blake was also new here, Emily wondered if she too felt the same as she did. Lost, Confused, Lonely.
Emily longed to be back in New York, with her friends, she knew where everything was and who everyone was.
The principle came back and asked to see Scott Mccall, she watched as he left the room with his stuff.
She couldn't help but overhear a conversation going on between the girl in front of her and the boy on the side.
“..You’re dog?”
“..No my designer handbag .. Yes my dog”
She couldn't help but laugh at the girl with red hair in front of her.
“Hey, have you noticed anything weird? Like animals acting unusual?” The boy turned to her.
Emily shook her head, a little taken back at the boy with brown hair. She didn't think anyone noticed her in this class, she felt like part of the wall, like she was just there.
“What do you mean?”
The boy looked at the window
“Like that”
Emily looked out the window, A flock of crows came flying toward the windows of the classroom creating cracks in the glass.
Emily could feel her heartbeat quickening
She could feel herself becoming dizzy as more and more birds flew into the window creating cracks.
The sound of her fellow students screaming only increased her heartbeat.
Soon the birds had completely smashed the windows and entered the classroom attacking the students.
The last thing Emily remembered before blacking out was the sound of the boy getting up off his chair to save her.
___________
“Are you ok?” Emily was slowly coming back, her head hurt and she felt sick.
Her vision was blurred but she could make out the image in front of her.
Allison Argent sat in front of her.
Emily nodded, she hadn't had an attack this bad before.
“I’m Allison, You've had a panic attack, Stiles managed to grab you before you fell to the floor”
Emily looked around the room for the boy known as Stiles, he was getting a feather out of Ms. Blakes hair.
Dead birds and feathers were everywhere, pupils looked confused as they got up from under the desks where they hid from the attack.
The police were questioning students who weren't in shock or in Emilys case, Passed out.
“Excuse me, I’m sheriff Stilinski, since you were sat right by the window, maybe you could tell me more about what happened”
Allison and the redhead girl, Lydia helped Emily up off the floor.
“Dad she passed out, she’s only just woke up”
“No, it’s fine” Emily sat herself down on the seat.
“The birds, i’ve never seen anything like it, they were literally throwing themselves at the window to break it, they, they broke in and started pecking and clawing at us, I don’t remember much but it was enough to scare the hell out of me, I don’t have a panic attack unless i’m scared, and i’ve never had one that bad before”
Emily got sent home after that, most of the class did.

She arrived home to the familiar sight of her dad typing away on his laptop in the living room.
“Hey pumpkin, are you ok? the school called saying you were being sent home, something about an accident in your English class?” Her dad walked over to check on her.
“No cuts or bruises, dad i’m fine, I just had an attack thats all”
“An attack? why?”
Emily explained the whole event to her father, he look confused and intrigued at the same time.
“Are you sure you’re ok? I can call a doctor to come see you now if you like”
“Dad i’m fine”
Her dad pulled his glasses off and placed them on the coffee table, a serious expression on his face.
“Tomorrow i’d like you to go talk about this and how you feel about the attack you had today with the guidance counselor”
Emilys previous anger came back, she hated the way her father pushed and pushed for her to go to see a counselor, it wouldn't help, she knew what to do if she ever had an attack, the doctors explained it all.
“No dad, I don’t want to! and thanks for putting me down for the meetings with her, i’ll never go but it was a nice thought.”
Emily got up from the sofa she was sitting on.
“Hunny, i just want you to talk to someone!”
“DAD JUST STOP, STOP WORRYING I’M FINE OK JUST LEAVE ME ALONE OK!”
Emily raised her voice so loud her neighbors could hear it.
Storming into her new room, the white walls and old carpet that the previous owner had was all she had in her new room. No bed, just a mattress. Her father only had time to get the kitchen and living room sorted on the weekend but promised her that they’ll go shopping for her stuff next weekend.
This made Emily even more angry, her room in New York was beautiful, it was red and white with flowery wallpaper.
Emily laid down on her mattress and began to cry.
Even though these seem to be dark times for Emily soon she would meet the one boy that would change that. The one boy that will make her feel alive.
Very very soon, she would meet her soul mate.
