Forbidden Love

Zoey Gilbert shot up in her bed. Sweat glisten on her skin as she tried to catch her breath. It was the fifth time she had that nightmare. It was about the night her parents drove off the wickery bridge with her and her twin sister in the back seat. Sadly her parents didn’t make it and nobody could figure out how they got out but they did. Sometime Zoey wishes she didn’t make it out of the car. She feels like she was suppose to die that night and some of her did.

“are you alright?” her twin Elena asked as she sat next to her sister on the bed.

“yea I'm fine just another nightmare” Zoey leaned back against the headboard on her bed.

Elena put her hand on her sisters knee “you need to stop blaming yourself for what happened. Mom and dad wouldn’t want us to be upset they would want us to move on and be happy”

Zoey rolled her eyes she heard this speech to many times “don’t give me that speech again. Please just don’t” she got up and walked in the bathroom and shut the door. She heard Elena walk out the room and shut the door. When she knew she was gone she opened the door and crawled back into bed. She glanced at the clock and saw it was only three thirty in the morning. She cussed under her breath and laid down to try to get more sleep before the first day of school.

Zoey woke up to the sound of her alarm clock. She rolled over and hit the snooze button. She stayed laying there for a few minutes before getting up to get ready. She grabbed her shirt with pink ribs on it, a pair of blue jeans and her favorite pair of high tops. After getting dressed she put on her makeup and grabbed her favorite jacket with a guitar on it and walked out of her room.

Elena was already down stairs making coffee and talking to aunt Jenna about her meeting today with a client she helps people plan there weddings and stuff. “don’t worry Jenna you’ll be fine. They will love you!”

aunt Jenna smiled and grabbed a cup of coffee “thanks for the support and I got to get going, see ya after school Elena and you too Zoey”

“see ya” Zoey and Elena said in unison.

Elena poured her and her sister a cup of coffee. She hands the cup to Zoey “did you get back to sleep last night?” Elena asked with curiosity

Zoey looked at her sister she could see the concern in her eyes “yea slept like a baby til the alarm went off”

Elena laughed at her sister and walked to the door “I'm gonna get going bonnie should be here any minute” she waved good bye to her sister and walked out.

Zoey sat on the couch and finished her coffee and watch for a little til it was time to go. When it was time she waked out the house and got in her car. Once she was in she put the key in the ignition and turned on the radio. She listened to Pierce the Veil all the way to school.

Once Zoey gets to school she went straight for the “druggie hangout” spot behind the school. She finds a spot up against the wall and puts in her music before she pulls out a water bottle full of vodka. After a while she feels a tap on her shoulder and a smile comes to her face. She pulls on of her headphones out and opens her eyes to see her beautiful best friend Emily.

“hello my favorite hooker” Emily says as she sits down next to her best friend.

Zoey just laughs and passes her the water bottle “hey girl how you been doing?” Zoey missed her best friend she hasn’t been able to talk to her since Emily got her phone taken.

“you know same old same old just causing trouble for the parents” Emily laughs and takes a big gulp of the vodka.

Zoey playfully slapped her arm “don’t hog it all! I only got two bottles today”

Emily giggled and handed her back the bottle “alright ill talk to you later and I will tell you everything I did but I got to go meet up with jack”

Zoey hugged her best friend “alright now be careful and use protection!” she watched her friend skip away to meet up with her boyfriend. Then she took one more swig of the vodka put it back in her bag she couldn’t help but feel like someone was watching her but after looking around she just brushed it off.

Elena was walking with bonnie talking about their summer and how this year was going to be great. “I'm telling you I'm not gonna let it get me down. I'm going to be happy and carefree”

Bonnie laughed at her friend “good I don’t want you to be all depressed this year”

As they were walking they walked past the office and saw someone in there. Bonnie tapped Elena on the shoulder “hey look a new guy”

Elena looked to see what bonnie was talking about and saw him “dang I hope hes hot” she giggled “his back looks pretty good tho”

Stefan Salvatore stood at the front desk getting enrolled in the school. He still had second thoughts about this but he has to know her.

The worker at the front desk was going through Stefan's files “in order to register we are going to need to see doctor records and a birth certificate” she looked up at Stefan

“please look again. Everything you need should be in there.” Stefan used his compulsion on the worker.

The worker looked back through the papers in front of her “your right everything is here” she handed him his schedule and his locker number and combination.

With that Stefan walked out of the office and saw the girl he has been dieing to see. She was standing with her friend talking about there summer and the new guy. A smile grew on his face when he heard them talking about him. He couldn’t wait to talk to her. He walked away from the front office to find his locker and while he was looking down at the schedule the lady at the front desk gave he he bumped in the somebody. When he looked up he saw it was the girl he had been dieing to meet.

Elena up at the guy she ran into “oh my god I'm so sorry I really need to look were I'm going” she nervously brushed her hair behind her ear. She couldn’t stop staring at him he looked so good. “my names Elena” sticking her hand out.

Stefan couldn’t help but laugh at the girl in front of him. He could sense how nervous she was and he thought it was adorable “Stefan my name is Stefan” he shook Elena's hand. He was mesmerized by how gorgeous Elena was. He started to say something but the bell rang telling everyone they were going to be late if they didn’t hurry and Elena waved goodbye and ran to class.

Zoey was just walking into the school building when the bell rang she just laughed at all the kids running to class so they weren’t late and one of them happened to be her sister. She did notice that she was talking to a really cute guy before she ran off which made it funnier.

Zoey walked to her first period and say next to Emily who was smiling like a kid who just found out they were going to Disney world. “what got you so happy?.. oh wait never mind I know” she playfully winked at her friend “you got it in didn’t you?”

Emily just laughed at Zoey she swear she had a little too much to drink “no but he did give me something” she smiled as she played with the bracelet her boyfriend gave her.

Zoey looked at what she was playing with and grabbed her hand “he got you this!? Dude that’s sick!” she looked at the charms hanging off the bracelet until their teacher called them out.

“Miss Gilbert am I interrupting you?” Mr. Anderson said as he crossed his arms to make him look more serious.

Zoey looked at Mr. Anderson “actually yes you are I was sitting here quietly looking at the charms on my friends bracelet. I wont disrupting class at all but you sir are the one who stopped class just to yell at me now you have wasted about 5 minutes of what could have been used to teach us about what ever war you are going over today.” everyone in the class started giggling which made Mr. Anderson furious.

“look Miss Gilbert it is the first day of school there is no need for that kind of attitude ill let you slide because it is the first day but anymore outburst like that ill send you to the principle” with that Mr. Anderson turned back to the board to continue his lesson while Zoey and Emily were laughing in their seats.

Zoey and Emily have like every class together so they spent the whole school day catching up, pissing off the teachers and sneaking swigs from the water bottle. After school they agreed to hang out at the grill before Zoey's shift. She works part-time as a bartender even tho shes not 21 they don’t care as long as she doesn’t drink anything.

Before going to the grill Zoey had to stop by the house and change her clothes and refill her water bottle. When she walked through the door she went straight to her room and put on a pair of ripped jeans, a tank top with a rib cage on it and some combat boots. She put on her favorite anchor necklace with matching plugs and a dragon wrist cuff before she walked back downstairs to fill up her bottle. She ran into Elena and bonnie downstairs but that didn’t stop her from grabbing the vodka bottle and pouring some into her water bottle and her mouth.

“Zoey! You know you shouldn’t be doing that!”

“oh shut up Elena you know most of your friends drink and you do too but if you are dedicated to lecturing me do it after I get back from work so I'm not late” Zoey grabbed her bag and rushed out the door and was off to the grill.

Once she was at the grill she saw Emily at her normal place at the bar flirting with guys so they will by her drinks. Zoey walked behind the bar and clocked in before she ended up late even tho her shift don’t start for another thirty minuets her boss likes her to get there early to help out if they need it. She then took a seat next to Emily.

“about time you got here girl!” Emily said as she looked at Zoey and gave her a hug.

Zoey laughed at her best friend and hugged her back. They sat there and talked til it was time to work and when her shift started Zoey gave Emily the rest of what was in the water bottle and walked behind the bar to serve drinks.

Emily looked at Zoey “girl you look sexy behind that bar” she winked playfully “you almost look old enough to drink”

Zoey giggled at her crazy best friend “i know right I try my best to look sexy while I serve drunk assholes”

Emily hit Zoey in the arm “it cant be that bad I mean you must get some cute guys in here”

Zoey just rolled her eyes and went to serve the group of people who just sat down. While Emily scanned the bar for some cute guys to bother.

Emily looked around the bar for several minuets before turning to Zoey “is there no cute guys here? I have been looking for like ever and I haven’t seen one cute guy”

Zoey listened to her friend rant and looked towards the door to see a devilishly handsome guy walk in. he had the gorgeous jet black hair and stunning blue eyes. Zoey couldn’t help but look.

Emily noticed Zoey looking at something and she turned in her chair and her mouth dropped “Zoey do you see what I see?”

all Zoey could do was nod her head but then she saw her start to walk towards the bar she hit Emily in the arm “play it cool hes coming this way”

Emily just started to play with the straw in her drink and Zoey was whipping off the counter.

Damon Salvatore was walking around the town and spotted the grill. He could kinda use a drink he thought so he decided to check it out. When he first walked into the bar all he saw were drunk guys playing pool and darts but then he saw a beautiful blonde behind the bar. She was talking to a girl with black hair who didn’t look bad but she didn’t seem his type. Beside the blonde reminded him of somebody, somebody he use to be in love with.

He walked up to the bar and sat down in front of the blonde and the blonde looked up at him. Damon tried to read her mind to see what she was think but he couldn’t which really surprised him. “whats your name Blondie?” he smirked at the girl

The girl smiled “Zoey and don’t call me Blondie now what would you like to drink?”

“Bourbon and my names Damon” he looked Zoey up and down while she got him his drink. She was a complete twin of Elizabeth it was shocking.

Zoey blushed when she noticed Damon staring. She poured him his drink and then placed in front of him. She was going to start up a conversation but more people came in and was calling for her to take their orders.

Emily had to leave shortly after Damon got there cause her mom was freaking. She said bye to Zoey and told her she had to get Damon's number and if she didn’t Emily would never let her live it down.

Zoey just looked at Emily like she was crazy I mean there was no way she could ask him for his number she was just way to shy and he is just way to hot. The one thing they didn’t know was that was Damon was listening to their conversation with his vampire hearing.

Damon had to get to know this girl. If she was anything like Elizabeth he was going to have fun in this town.

Zoey walked back to the bar and walked right towards Damon. The bar had calmed down a lot and everyone pretty much left. It was just her a Damon.

Since all the other workers left Zoey poured herself a drink and sat in front of Damon. “so what brings you here to mystic falls?”

Damon looked down at his drink “i use to live here so now I'm back visiting and I don’t think your suppose to be drinking that” he pointed at the shot she poured.

Zoey laughed “what they don’t know wont kill them” she picked up her shot glass and let the liquid leave a warm trail down her throat. She looked at Damon “you want another?”

Damon nodded his head and handed her his empty glass. He liked this girl she was fun and carefree just like Elizabeth but she seemed less controlling which might be a good thing.

Hours passed and Zoey drunk so much she could barely stand up . When she got up to go home she fell right back down but Damon caught her before she hit the ground. She looked up at him “thanks” she mumbled the best she could. Damon knew she couldn’t drive home hell she couldn’t even walk home. He picked her up bridal style and carried her to his house since he had no idea were she lived.

Zoey rested her head on his shoulder and was about to fall asleep when she was put down on something really soft “were are we?” she tried to lift her head up to look around but she couldn’t so she gave up and laid down.

“my place” Damon said and when he went to walk away and sleep in one of the many empty rooms he heard Zoey mumbling something so he got closer so he could hear what it was

“don’t leave me by myself please” Zoey pleaded she grabbed his hand the best she could to stop him from leaving.

Damon sighed he couldn’t say no to the poor girl so he laid down next to her. Zoey rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes. Damon looked at the girl who was now asleep on him she was so beautiful he didn’t want to wake her so he just laid there and ran his fingers through her hair.
