Three's a Crowd
Chapter 5.
Harry was a million miles away from the meeting he was meant to be paying attention to; he was too busy thinking about his mum. It had been a week and he hadn’t heard from her. Harry was sure he had done something wrong, he was sure she was mad at him for forgetting about the dinner she had planned. It wasn’t like Harry was ignoring his mum, he had tried on several occasions to call her but had been interrupted by his friends or a meeting will come up and he would have to attend that rather than talk to his mother.
“Harry,” the brunette was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of Simon’s voice, turning his head he looked at the older man who sat at the head of the table a confused look on his face. Harry knew everyone in the room was staring at him.
“Huh?” Simon sighed irritably leaning back in his chair.
“Is there something on your mind?” he questioned waiting for the singer to answer, Harry quickly shook his head.
“No sorry, I was just thinking about something… sorry.”
Simon turned his attention back to the matter at hand, the new tour was coming up quickly and he was running through all the interviews that the boys would have to attend along with the places they would be visiting. Harry tried to concentrate but it only lasted a few minutes before his thoughts drifted back to his mum and how he really needed to talk to her and apologise for what he did wrong.
The meeting drew to a close, once Simon had left the room Harry was the first on his feet and out of the room grabbing his mobile phone he punched in his mothers’ number. He spent a good two minutes looking at the digits as he debating whether or not to hit call. Throwing all caution to the wind he hit the call button as he walked out into the night air toward his Range Rover. The phone rang for what seemed like a lifetime when finally Anne answered.
‘Hello’
“Hey mum,” Harry said into his phone piece so grateful to hear her voice. Slipping his keys into the ignition he sat back in the seat to talk.
‘Harry, hello love,’ Anne’s tone was warm and Harry wondered if he would put her in a bad mood for what he was about to do. ‘What’s wrong love?’ the older woman asked a slight tone of worry in her voice.
“Are you mad at me?” the words tumbled from his lips before he could stop them. He winced at how childish it sounded.
'W-what?' Anne stammered caught off guard by the question, 'Why would I be mad at you Harry?'
“Well I kinda ruined your plans the other night, and I haven’t heard from you in a while so… I just kind of assumed you were angry at me.” Harry couldn’t get over how childish he was sounding.
‘No, sweetie, I’m not mad at you Harry, I understand your schedule is always busy… I have been pretty busy myself that’s why I haven’t been able to call. Work has been knocking me around and Robin is coming down with a cold so I have been constantly telling him to stay in bed, but you know your step-father stubborn as an ox that man.’ Harry heard a faint I heard that. which caused him to chuckle as his mother sighed into the mouth piece of the phone.
“I’ll make it up to you, Friday I am taking all of you out to dinner, Gemma, Robin and you, I’ll pay,” the curly haired singer knew his mother was about to object so he quickly silenced her, “It’s the least I can do Mum.”
‘Alright then Hazza,’ was the reply he got, a smile spread across his face.
“Alright I will see you all Friday, the usual?”
‘Sounds perfect Harry,’
“Alright, talk later, bye mum.”
‘Bye sweetheart’ with that the two hung up and Harry started his car feeling like the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders. Pulling out of his park he drove back to his house where his bed awaited him.
Anne hung up the phone the same time as her son before she turned toward Robin who was laid out on the couch several rugs tucked around his body as he sipped from a mug of warm chicken and noddle soup. Sighing she walked over taking a seat on the lounge chair beside her husband before turning to look at him.
“He wants to have dinner with us to make up for the other night.”
“Well that’s nice of him.” Robin pointed out before taking another mouthful of soup from his mug. He could see that Anne was torn between something. “What’s wrong Anne?”
“Do I tell him?”
“I think you should tell both of them after dinner, invite them back for dessert or something, get them back here and then tell them, they deserve to know and I know you want to meet them.” Anne heaved a sigh before looking over at the bench where the paper work sat. Anne had spent the past several days reading over them and staring at the photographs that were attached. The two boys had grown into strong men, one covered in ink with a streak for rebelling, while the other was clean cut and excelling in his schooling. They couldn’t be more different. They couldn’t be more perfect in Anne’s eyes.
“They are all so different, do you think they would survive put into a room together?” Robin laughed as he looked at the brown haired mother.
“You worry too much my love, I’m sure they will be fine, of course it will be a shock at first but I am sure after a while the four of them will be best of friends.”
“I hope your right,” Anne said before turning back to Robin smiling gently as he grabbed her hand in reassurance.
