Unbreakable

(II)- Leap of Faith

'Subtle' should be Eunice's middle name. When she excused her and Emily for a "girls chat" in the lady's toilet, even Emily forgot what the true agenda of their little gathering was. True to her word Eunice has picked up not only one but two pregnancy tests because you could never be to sure. Emily went into the cubical and urinated on both of the tests before putting them on a paper towel on the sink while she washed and dried her hands. The tests were supposed to take five minutes but it felt like an eternity for Emily. "I'll give you some privacy while you wait for the outcome, ill just tell the boys you're powdering your nose" Emily embraced Eunice in a hug and the gesture startled her. "Thank you" Emily whispered closely to her ear. When Eunice left, Emily began pacing around the bathroom waiting for the tests. She wasn't sure what she wanted the outcome to be; she'd love to be a mum but the timing wasn't exactly perfect. How would she break the news to Murphy? When would she do it? She'd have to tell him after their hit at the Prudential because if she told him before, he wouldn't let her go. With all her planning she hadn't noticed that the tests were ready. She looked down at them to find two smiling faces looking back up at her, leaving no doubt in her mind... she was defiantly pregnant. She looked back up at herself in the mirror and couldn't help but smile. A baby was growing inside her...hers and Murphy's baby was growing inside of her. "Em, ye ever comin' out?" Murphy's voice came through the other side of the door making Emily jump. She quickly grabbed the tests and discarded of them in the small bin in the toilet before opening the door to be greeted by a grinning Murphy. "Ye're not still sick are ye?" Murphy said placing his hand on her lower back, rubbing it gently as well as pushing her in direction of the bar. "No I'm fine, just got caught up staring at my beautiful face in the mirror" she said whilst laughing causing Murphy to laugh as well. He stopped her just before they came into view of the others and turned her around to plant his lips on hers. It was the kind of kiss that made all of Emily's thoughts and worries melt away, he couldn't have chosen a better time for it. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he cupped a butt cheek in each of his hands. They both smiled into the kiss as Murphy began pushing her backwards. Unintentionally he walked her back so far, they was now standing behind the others. "Get a fuckin' room ye two" Conner yelled, causing Emily to break away from the kiss and laugh properly. They all laughed as Emily sat down on a stool next to Greenly while Murphy retook his seat next to Eunice. Emily's laughter soon seized after she noticed Eunice looking at her quizzically, she wanted to know whether or not a baby Macmanus was on the way. But Emily realised that if she told Eunice, she'd also make sure that Emily wasn't involved in the Concezio killing. Eunice signalled her over to where her and the brothers were sat to show her the Interpol file. "This is the guy?" Conner asked Emily as she looked at it over his shoulder. As soon as she saw the picture it all flashed back to her, she couldn't forget the face even if she wanted to, "Yes, that's him."
"He's a Sicilian immigrant, name of Ottilio Panza" Eunice said as Conner handed the file to Murphy. "Five, five? He's a short bastard isn't he?" This caused Emily to laugh at Murphy's bluntness. "Yes... and well put. He'll be front page news in the morning but we have to assume Yakavetta already knows we've ID'd his guy. We can't give him time to 'plan B' us."
"We're hittin' him in forty eight hours. That soon enough for ye?" Everyone cut their conversations short to listen to what the answer was going to be. "Should be. Where's it gonna happen?"
"The Pru" Conner stated, slightly smug about the idea.
"The Prudential? What are you, cracked?" Dolly asked in disbelief.
"Why don't you just do it on centre ice at a fucking Bruin's game?!" argued Greenly.
"That's where the man is so that's where we're goin'." Conner asserted to Greenly and the others. Emily rather liked the idea of hitting the Prudential, it's one step up from their usual hits. "No guts no glory, Green Beans" Emily smirked at him as she mentioned his nickname. "In fact, we could use a few extra hands... that's if ye fellas can still get yer Irish on" Emily perched on Murphy's knee as he finished talking. "Hey, I got balls for days, pally. I'm a fucking sack-o-matic" everyone chuckled at Greenly as Dolly and Duffy also said they're in. Eunice asked Conner to escort her to the door while Murphy escorted Emily so they could reconvene near the entrance. "Y'sure ye don't wanna hear the plan? I'm not tryin' ta brag but this ones a real Picasso" Emily and Murphy looked at each other with a 'here we go again' look; Conner thought all his plans were master-plans. "I'd like to critique your masterpiece with fresh eyes. Besides, it's a school night. I've got some homework to do" the expression on her face turned troubled. "What's the matter?" Emily asked in unison with Murphy. "Panza knew you were in there tonight and he just let it happen. Didn't lift a finger. I mean, if he's working for Yakavetta, why would he stand by and watch all his men get taken out?" Emily's mind filtered back to the man that she saw sitting in the van. She couldn't help but think that, if she had told the others... he wouldn't of had the chance to shoot at them. If he had managed to hit one of them, Emily would never have forgiven herself. "Ye think maybe we got another fox in the hen house here?"
"Starting to look that way. Somebody pushed that visa through."
"So we could have our selves a genuine ghost in the dark here?" Emily asked, Eunice nodded as a response but it seemed half hearted; her mind was obviously lost in thoughts. In fact they all were, the thought of someone being involved was sort of unnerving.

*Time Jump*

The group was in the back of a laundry truck, with Dolly upfront driving. In all fairness to Conner, the plan was quite impressive. Murphy climbed into the laundry cart beside Conner, all eyes turning to Emily signalling for her that it was her turn to get in. "Couldn't you find a bigger cart?" She asked sarcastically, before climbing into it. She ended up sat on Murphy's lap -as he crossed his legs- with her legs resting on top of Conner. Emily had offered to go with Duffy and Greenly in the other elevator straight to the roof, but everyone agreed to was too risky; the sketches of them shown on the news were pretty accurate and with Concezio gunning harder for her more then the boys, they wanted to keep her as close as possible. The thought made Emily inwardly laugh to herself because they couldn't get any closer if they tried. As Dolly pulled the truck to a stop, Romeo placed the wooden lid on top of them and chucked on a few bedding sheets to make it appear full. Romeo began pushing the cart down a ramp causing the three people inside it to tip. "Ow fuck! Why did you let him steer, didn't you learn anything from the forklift incident?" Emily placed a hand at the back of her head where she had hit it on one of the metal poles. "I couldn't see!" Romeo protested, purposely jolting the laundry cart which made Emily laugh this time, more at his level of immaturity then the actually action. However Murphy quickly covered her mouth with his large hand as they entered the building. He kept his hand there until Romeo removed the false top off the laundry cart and took Emily's hand to help her jump out. As soon as they were all out they placed the lid back onto the laundry cart and began gearing up; grabbing their guns from the duffle bag and placing them in their holsters. Emily had gone for the thigh holsters instead of the shoulder holster because she found it easier to retrieve her guns from them. The brothers followed by example and strapped on their thigh holsters before holstering their guns in them. When Emily was ready she looked over at Romeo and noticed he looked unsure, "Rome, what's wrong?" Emily asking him what was wrong grabbed Murphy and Conners attention and they quickly noticed why she had asked. "Nothing" was Romeo's simple reply.
"Out with it! What the hell's the matter with ye?"
"Nothing! It's just... this is some heavy shit" Emily could relate to how Romeo was feeling, after all this time of being apart of the saints she still felt nervous. "Ye did fine at yer uncles place" Conner said, in an attempt to boost his confidence. "Yeah, but we're going off a new script here. I'm just having a...period of adjustment."
"Ye're about ta have a period of getting yer ass beat!" Murphy clenched his fist and put it in front of Romeos face as a warning.
"Hey give him a break, he's allowed to be nervous" Emily gave him a reassuring smile and he returned it, but as the elevator dinged a look of dread crossed his face. "This is ye. Be on time!" Romeo fixed up the laundry cart and pushed it out as the doors opened. "I'll be there" and with that, the doors closed and he was out of sight. As Conner asked Murphy if he was ready, Emily looked at herself in the reflection of the elevator doors. Her eyes glanced down to her stomach and she was tempted to touch it, but she refrained from doing so because she didn't want to make it obvious. They got to the top floor and used a set of stairs to bring them to the roof. Duffy and Greenly were waiting on the scaffold, on which they will descend down the building. Greenly worked the controls and Duffy was helping them with the rope. After taking one look over the edge Emily felt her heart leap into her throat, suddenly the plan wasn't such a masterpiece after all. "I've changed my views on this plan... it's shit"
"Creative! It's a creative plan!" Conner replied defensively.
"It's a fuckin' stupid plan! Probably based on some stupid shit ye saw in a movie! And here I am again all tyin' myself up with rope! What is the deal with you and rope?! Honestly!" Murphy interjected after overhearing their conversation. "It happens ta be a very useful thing!" Emily wasn't interested in their argument over rope, she was more worried about something else Murphy had mentioned. "Conn, please tell me you didn't get this from a movie?" everyone looked at Conner quizzically, his expression didn't seem very reassuring.
"The 'Eiger Sanction,' Clint Eastwood! And it worked like a fuckin' charm for him" in unison, they all sighed in disbelief. "I fuckin' knew it!" Murphy yelled.
"If you hadn't noticed Conn, but this isn't a movie and you're no fucking Clint Eastwood!" it became clear Emily was beginning to panic. To add to her panicking the scaffolding came to an abrupt halt causing her to wobble close to edge. The other thing that stopped her from plummeting to her death was Murphy's firm grip pulling her into him. "What the fuck?" Conner asked, looking at greenly. "I don't know, it just stopped! It won't turn back on!" They only had sixty seconds before Romeo was kicking down the door to Concezios suite, they needed to get there...now. "If we're even a few seconds late, Romeos dead! We gotta go" Emily said as she began counting out lengths of rope by feeding it through her hand and extending her arm to the side. "What the hell are ye doing?!" Murphy sounded outraged at her actions. "Ball parking it! Eleven more stories, get counting!" the brothers glanced at each other and came to a mutual decision with a slight nod, before mimicking Emily's actions. When the three of them were securely fastened, Murphy handed Emily a knife so she could cut herself free of the rope when the time came. They lined up a little away from the edge as Duffy counted them down. Emily had a few seconds to think about the baby...if something did go wrong, she wanted Murphy to know beforehand. She realised now -as they were about to jump eleven stories with only rope to support them- wasn't the best time to break the news to him, but now could be the only time had. Another positive was he couldn't freak out when they had bigger things to worry about, so in some ways it was perfect timing. Emily had considered the possibility that her and the baby could die if something goes wrong, but she needed to do this one last hit for all times sake. Besides, if there was ever a time for her to put her faith in God... this was it.
"3,"
"Murphy" Emily said, staring straight ahead of her.
"2,"
"Yeah?" Murphy asked distantly, obviously concentrating on the task at hand.
"1"
"I'm pregnant" and that was it, they jumped.
