I didn't cry. No, I smiled. I laughed. I bid the cold shores of California goodbye happily. Sure, I had grown up there. Sure, all of my friends and family lived there. But it was really just another place on the globe.
We were moving to Hawaii. I had never been there, but I had seen pictures. Pretty sunsets, ocean everywhere. Volcanoes, palm trees, mangoes, coconuts, wild horses, warm water, the list goes on forever. But what is there not to love?
Just another milestone on the adventure we call life, right? Right.
But nothing could ever prepare me for the adventure I was about to have.
