Cliché

love.

"Love is a cliché, Joshua. I want no string attached," she told him. He stopped running his fingers through her long, blonde hair and stared at her, blankly. She separated her red lips to say something, but closed them, and just smiled at him.

"Can't we have a relationship without love?"

"That's what we've got now," she replied, laughing lightly. He let his arms fall to his sides and he shook his head. "Joshua, what's wrong?"

He smiled and looked at her. Her eyebrows were pushed together in confusion. Both of his hands held her face, a soft chuckle leaving his mouth. He had to agree with her, he didn't want to lose her over a little disagreement. He couldn't lose her; he needed her.

"Nothing. As long as you're happy, I'm happy," he smiled, kissing her forehead. He didn't know how the future looked, but he knew that this was the relationship's dead end.
