In Too Deep

Bonus Chapter

Kellin fiddled with his tie. He didn't like suits. He looked at the mirror. He was in a completely black suit, a white dress shirt, and a dark blue tie. He tugged on the few strands of his hair that were sticking up. He sighed. Never mind, he totally hated suits. Ecspecially the last time he wore one.

*flashback*

"You okay?" Kevin rest his arm around Kellin's shoulder. They were looking down at Kellin's mother who was resting in a beautiful wooden casket. All the bruises and cuts were neatly covered by makeup. Her skin was smooth and face relaxed. Kellin scratched his chin, using a pretend cough to try and cover his tears.
"I'm fine Kev." He was watching people walk up to his mom, setting red roses on the end. Kellin's eye was caught by a single white rose being carried by a boy with brown eyes and hair to match. The boy sent the rose down, running his fingers over the glossy surface of the wood. "Vic?" Vic slowly turned towards Kellin.
"I was just leaving." Kellin caught Vic by the arm. Vic jerked his arm back, cradling it like a lost child.
"I'm sorry. Please don't leave."
"I made a mistake. I shouldn't have came here." Kellin grabbed the tan boy's waist, bringing him into a hug. He took a deep breath, savoring the sweet smell of cinnamon that came off of Vic.
"I thought I told you not to hurt yourself." Vic reluctantly returned the hug.
"You told me not to kill myself." He stated blankly.
"Oh god, I've missed you."
"Kellin I just came to pay my respects to your mom."
"I'm tired of pretending I'm okay. Please just stay with me for this. I need you right now." Kellin choked back his tears. Vic glanced at Kevin. He was nodding.
"I-I can't." Kellin pulled away, lacing their hands together. "I shouldn't."
"Please." Vic opened his mouth then closed it.
"Okay." Kellin pecked him on the cheek. "But just for today. Do you understand?"
"Yes."

*End of flashback*

"You almost ready?" Kevin stood at the doorway. Kellin blink the tear out of his eye. He quickly wiped it away, smiling at his friend.
"Can you help me? I can't get this stupid tie right." Kevin walked over, pulling Kellin's tie off, and redoing the whole thing. "I can't believe we're the losers going stag to prom. I mean come on, I can get anyone I want."
"You can't get everyone you want." Kellin frowned.
"What the hell is that suppose to mean?"
"Nothing. I didn't mean that." Kevin pat the knot he made with a triumphant smile. "Ta-da! Now come on! Let's go." He skipped out of the room.
"I swear you are a kid!" Kellin followed after his friend, rolling his eyes. He bumped into his father. "I'm sorry."
"Where do you think you're going?"
"I thought Sarah told you. I'm going to prom. Dad I have a date too. The most beautiful girl ever." Kellin lied through his teeth. His father carefully looked over him.
"Proceede." Mr. Bostwick nodded to his son. Kellin ran out of the house to his car. Kevin was in the driver's seat.
"Get in loser, we're going shopping." Kellin laughed, opening the door and sliding into the seat.
"Really? Mean girls." Kevin shrugged.
"It was a perfect opportunity. I couldn't pass it up."
"Whatever." The two boys continued joking around until they made it to where the prom was being held. It wasn't going to be as fancy as their prom next year but they could deal with it. This was suppose to be a night of fun and partying until you can't see straight.
He wanted to forget Vic tonight. It had been three month since that day in the hospital. Three months Kellin has gone without a good nights sleep. Three months he had to watch Vic avoid everyone he ever loved and hang out with Austin and the new guy who moved into Kellin's old house. He walked up the grand hotel stairs smiling at every girl he passed. He still had lost his reputation. Jake had told everyone it was just for a dare. Kellin never denied it and he never egged it on.
"Let's party till we're purple!"
"What is up with all the movie references lately?" Kevin shrugged.
"My little sister came over and we had a movie night."
"Ah. No need to be weird about it." They walked into the crowd hall. Kellin saw Mike talking with Jaime. He approached the group. "Hey guys. Where's Tony?" Jaime gave a small smile.
"He's trying to talk to Vic." Mike looked at the ground.
"My brother hasn't just been avoiding you. He doesn't talk at home anymore." Kellin followed Mike's gaze. He felt like he was going to throw up. Vic was standing with the new kid holding hands.
"I need a drink." Kellin went over to where Jake was standing. "You got anything strong?" Jake handed him a flask.
"If you drink this, you'll forget all your problems. Good luck dude. I hope you have fun." Jake winked, leaving Kellin alone. He spent an hour just drinking away his pain and dancing with random girls. He stumbled outside. Someone was leaning on the balcony, looking up at the stars. How clichè. He stumbled over and almost knocked the person over.
"What the hell?"
"I'm sorry. I'm drunk off my ass."
"K-Kellin?" Vic was looking worriedly at the pale boy in front of him. Kellin looked like shit as he tried to straighten out his clothes.
"Vic?" Kellin cleared his throat. "What are you doing out here?" He had to admit, Vic looked very handsome. Instead of his hair being curly at the ends, it was straightened. He had a black suit with a red tie and, of course, a white dress shirt.
"I came out to get fresh air." Vic scratched the back of his head. "I thought you would go to this with Amy."
"Uh, no. She asked but it didn't feel right to me. What about you?"
"I'm here with Brenden Mason. He, um, asked me last week."
"He's the new guy that moved into my old house right?" Vic nodded. "Are you two dating?"
"No." He glanced up at Kellin. "Not yet at least."
"Oh, okay." They sat in a awkward silence. "You look nice. You straightened you hair." Vic shifted on his feet.
"Thanks. Brenden likes when my hair is straightened." Kellin snorted. "What?"
"So you're changing for him?"
"No! Why the hell would you think that?" Kellin threw his hands up in the air. "I will damn you to hell if you say I'm doing this to get him to like me."
"Has he seen what's on your arms?" He cupped Vic's face. "Does he know what you've been through?" Vic grabbed Kellin's hands, holding them in his own.
"That is a secret between you and I."
"Why are you pushing everyone away?" Kellin sighed as he felt Vic start moving his thumbs up and down his skin. It gave him goosebumps.
"I want to start over. That means new friends, new hobbies, new-"
"New boyfriend?" Kellin pushed away the tan boy's hands.
"No. Kellin I wasn't going torwards that."
"Whatever." Kellin kicked the potted plant that was near them.
"I still have feelings for you Kellin." He looked back at Vic. A little bit of that spark came back into those otherwise lifeless eyes. "I don't believe it's smart for me to act on those feelings."
"I miss you." Vic ran his fingers over Kellin's cheek.
"Me quedo despierto pensando en ti. Siempre estás en mis sueños." Kellin grabbed his hand, kissing his palm. "Estoy tan enamorada de ti." The kiss still lingered there. Vic felt a tear skid down his cheek. "I miss you too." Kellin leaned forward trying to connect their lips.
"Vic? You out here?" Vic pushed Kellin back, wiping the tear stains from his cheek.
"Yeah. I'm out here." Brenden walked around the corner. He was a tall lanky boy with black shaggy hair and green eyes. He smiled at Vic and put his arm around the tan boy's waist. Beside the eyes and the height, he looked just like Kellin.
"Who's this?"
"Oh, um. This is Kellin. He's a old..." Vic locked eyes with Kellin. The twinkle was gone. "He's a old friend." Brenden stuck his hand out.
"It's nice to meet one of Vic's friends. I thought he only had Austin as a friend." Kellin ignored the offer.
"Oh no. Vic use to have a lot of friends. Tony, Jaime, Kevin, Mike, Oli. But I have to say, I think I was the closest." Vic glared at him.
"Is there something I should know that went on between you guys?"
"No!" Vic and Kellin snapped at the same time. Brenden jumped. He was looking between the two boys. There was something going on. Something hung in the air when these two were around each other.
"I'll leave you guys to talk." Brenden smiled at Vic.
"I'll come back in a couple of minutes, okay?" He leaned over giving Vic a kiss on the cheek, totally disregarding the look of annoyance that flashed across Kellin's face. Brenden left the boys on their own.
"He seems nice." Vic heard the soft music flood through the open doors.
"He is." He held his hand out. "Dance with me?" Kellin pulled Vic to his chest, gripping his hips lightly. Vic put his hands around the pale boy's neck. Kellin his lips to Vic's ear as they started to sway to the music.
"I've been learning some Spanish." He felt Vic chuckle.
"Really?"
"M-hm. Want to hear some?"
"Sure. Why not?" Kellin took a deep breath.
"Creo que usted es la persona más bella del mundo. Echo de menos su tacto. Te echo de menos, Vic. Quiero despertar junto a ti sabes que tú eres mío para toda la eternidad. Te amo más de lo que puedo gritar." Vic pushed away.
"I have to go." Kellin grabbed his hand.
"Wait." He search in his pockets. He pulled out a single white, fresh rose, just like the one Vic got for his mom's funeral. Vic's eyes kept going from the rose to Kellin. "Nunca te olvides de mí." Kellin opened Vic's hand and placed the rose in it. He pecked the tan boy on the lips before leaving him to stand there alone. Vic jumped when a arm snaked around his waist.
"That's a pretty rose." Vic held back from crying.
"Yeah. It's beautiful."
"What's up with you and that Kellin guy?" Vic smiled slightly as he rubbed his fingers on the soft petal.
"He was a really good friend. We went through a lot of shit together."
"I know this might be bad timing but would you like to go on a date with me?" Vic found himself frowning. He felt wrong standing here with Brenden. It felt right when it was with Kellin. Everything felt right with Kellin.
"I would love to go on a date with you."
"C-can I kiss you?" Vic nodded. Brenden leaned in, closing his eyes and Vic followed suit. This kiss had no spark, no life. It just felt...dull. He had only ever kissed Kellin and everytime that happen, he felt firework igniting his insides. But this was nothing. When Brenden pulled away, Vic offered him a warm smile. Maybe it would just take time to get use to Brenden.
"Would you, I don't know, want to be my, a-" Brenden coughed awkwardly. "My boyfriend?"
"I-" Vic looked at the rose in his hand. He had to let go. He made this decision a long time ago. "Sure. I don't see why not." Brenden kissed him again. Brenden started to pull Vic back into the dance hall. "Wait. I have to do something."
"Okay." They smiled at each other. Vic walked back over to the balcony, twirling the beautiful white rose between his fingers. He sighed.
"How could I ever forget you when you're always on my mind?" He tucked the rose in his jacket pocket. He held his face in his hands. "God damn it Kellin. I'm still in love with you. Why couldn't you have just left me alone? Why did you have to save me and make me fall in love with you?" Vic straightened out his clothing. He patted the pocket that the rose was in before leaving to go back inside. He had to let go of what he love the most.
Ecspecially Kellin.
