In Too Deep

Chapter 4

Thoughout the whole day Kellin has not been able to talk to Vic. Every class Kellin had made it to class late because he has been avoiding his friends. He ended up having to sit in the front of class, too. But now it was was lunch. Kellin waved his friends away and made his way to Vic's normal table. Vic had his back to Kellin, totally engrossed by scribbling down this mornings math homework. Kellin swiped the beanie off of Vic's head.
"What the f-" Vic looked him up and down. "Oh it's just you." Mike threw his hands up in the air.
"If I steal your beanie you practically disown me for an hour and that is all he gets." Tony smiled as Kellin sat at the table.
"What you jealous that Kellin has your older brothers attention?" Jaime teased. Kellin saw Vic roll his eyes as they went in a in depth argument. Vic's sleek brown hair was covering his right eye. Kellin pushed his hair back to see him in deep thought on a advanced calculus problem. He pushed Vic's hair off his neck and placed a small kiss where his neck meets his shoulder. Vic shuddered.
"Stop. I'm trying to figure this out." Vic frowned as he erased another answer. How had the teens become so casual so quickly? Kellin glanced at the work.
"You forgot the two." Kellin whispered. Vic went over his work again and found he was indeed missing the two. He groaned, slamming his book shut, and throwing his notebook on top. Kellin's laugh made his heart beat faster. "I need to talk to you."
"So talk." Kellin glanced at Jaime and Mike fighting while Tony sat there with a big smile. He leaned towards Vic's ear.
"In private." Kellin place a kissed on the tan boys cheek. "If you don't mind." Vic swallowed.
"About what?" Kellin shrugged and stood up from the table. He stuck his hand out for Vic to take. Vic stood up, ignore Kellin's offer, and stood next to him. "Fine. But you have to stop touching me. It's weird." Kellin started leading the way towards the empty part of the school.
"Okay but no promises." Kellin gave a sly smirk as he turned a corner into an empty classroom. He shut the door once both boys were in the room. Vic looked around the classroom. He doesn't think he has ever been in this one. "Why do you do it?" Kellin watched as Vic tensed. He made his way over and snaked his arm around the boy's thin waist. Vic let his head fall back on Kellin's shoulder. His soft dark neck was exposed.
"Release. Pleasure. An escape from reality." Vic had his eyes closed. Kellin started lifting up Vic's hoodie and shirt. Vic's hands shot to Kellin's.
"Relax. I just want to see." Instead of removing his hands, Vic kept them on top of Kellin's as his top was pulled off his torso. He felt his breathing pick up. "Turn around." Vic reluctantly turned his body to Kellin's. He felt exposed. He felt ugly. Kellin put a had on on the scars and frowned.
"Can I put m-"
"When was the last time you did this?" Kellin's gaze drifted to Vic's arms. It looked as if somebody was trying to claw out of his body. There were ones that were bumps, pink and fresh, then there were sleek flat ones that were older.
"This morning." Vic said meekly. Kellin search his body finding none that looked less than a week old.
"Where?" He demanded. Vic shook his head quickly. "Vic show me. I want to help you. Please." Vic glared at Kellin.
"Why the fuck do you care now? Huh? You never gave a shit about me before. I am not your duty!" Vic grabbed his shirt shoving it on. He started looking for his hoodie and turned to find Kellin holding it. "You can't help me, Kellin. Just give up. Everyone else has." Kellin slammed Vic against the wall. He place his hands on either side of his body.
"I have given up on two people Vic! I can't do it again." Kellin bit his lip to keep from crying. "I know this is corny but I need you Vic. I need you to help me." A tear escaped his eyes. He looked so weak. Vic brushed his long fingers over Kellin's cheek catching the tear in the process.
"Who have you given up on?" Vic cupped Kellin's cheek. The contrast between their skin was amazing. Kellin put his gaze on Vic's wrist. He didn't want to answer that question.
"Oli for one." He saw the color drain from Vic's face.
"A-and who-o e-else?" Kellin realized he was trying to keep from crying and it started his whole body to shake. Vic was standing with such rigid posture, he looked like a statue.
"I can't tell you that here. I don't think it would be wise to have a mental breakdown at school." Kellin gave a small smile. All the time since Vic moved here in freshman year, he had never seen Kellin smile like this. It was shy and more sincere. Vic felt his heart flutter at the possibility that he might be causing that.
"The things you do to me." Kellin looked in Vic's eyes. Even those were complete opposites. He found it so enticing and even though it's early, he found his thought drifting to Vic and him wrapped together in bed. Oh come on Kellin get real! The boy hasn't even had his first kiss. Vic felt a blush creep on his cheeks as he came to terms what he just let slip. "C-can I please have my jacket back?" Kellin removed his position from Vic. He took a few steps away.
"Nah. I think I'll keep it." He said. Was he teasing Vic? Or was he flirting? Vic made a move to snatch the jacket from Kellin but he was faster. Of course he was faster Vic, he was captain of the football team. "Too slow." Vic saw Kellin smiling. He had a perfect smile. He could see why girls were on their knees for him. Mostly likely literally as well. Vic went for the jacket again. He groaned when Kellin pulled from his reach again.
"Kellin." Vic tried to say sternly but he was having trouble trying not to laugh.
"Vic." Kellin mocked. Unlike Vic though, he let the laugh bubble through his lips. After a few more attempts Vic had Kellin pushed up against the science platform table. Kellin now had the jacket behind him so if Vic wanted to get it he would have to get close and reach across his body. And that is just what he did. "I don't see why you hide your body. It's nice." Vic scoffed still reaching to get his hoodie.
"Whatever. It's covered in scars. No one wants a boy with scars. It shows they have weakness." Vic mumbled. Kellin turned to look at the side of Vic's face. He had his lips in a thin line as he was trying to get a plan for the kidnapping (or hoodie napping).
"Weakness is good." Vic slowly turned his head to face Kellin. How could he do that. One moment he was teasing and happy when the next he was serious. "I always thought it was bad but I found out that's why I am an asshole."
"Your not an asshole, Kellin. I can tell." Vic kissed Kellin on the tip of the nose. In the moment of Vic spur of boldness he grabbed his hoodie back, clutching it like a lost child. "Yes!" And that's where a slip up happened. Vic laughed. Kellin felt his eyes widen. It was beautiful but it was stopped short as Vic quickly covered his mouth. Kellin frowned.
"I like your smile. And your laugh." Vic blushed. "You look so beautiful. Sound so beautiful." Kellin lifted himself on the tabletop, dangling his feet in the process. He reminded Vic of a little kid.
"Why are you saying all of this stuff?" Kellin patted the seat next to him. Vic shook his head. He had enough contact today. What was it about Kellin's touch that Vic felt so relaxed, so at home? It had to be how Kellin talked to him. But at the funeral, he hadn't said a word to Vic since that day and Vic found himself melting in his embrace.
"I want to start telling the truth." Vic faked shock as he gasped dramatically. Kellin rolled his eyes. "Fine then. Why have you never kissed someone?" Vic shrugged. Kellin noticed the hoodie still hadn't been put on.
"Because no one has wanted to." Vic sounded bored with the question. He must get asked that a lot. Kellin opened a mouth to make a remake about Oli. "Not even Oli. He had other boyfriends and girlfriends."
"Oh." Vic just nodded. Kellin looked at the clock up on the wall. 1:11 They had 5 minutes. "What classes do you have after this?" Vic pulled his hoodie over his head.
"I have photography and off-roll. But I stay here, hang out with Jaime and Tony, and wait for Mike. What about you?"
"I have history then I have off-roll but the whole team uses it to practice drills and that shit." Vic seemed confused.
"Up at the field?" Kellin nodded. "Wow."
"What?" Vic shook his head.
"It's just that during off-roll, Jaime, Tony, and I usually sit at the top of the bleachers and hang out. I guess I'm just always doing homework that I never notice you guys." Vic frowned. Kellin had noticed the three boys in the stands before. They had just been too far away to identify. It's funny it had been Vic. "I should, um, start walking back to get my stuff." Kellin jumped of the platform and made his way towards Vic. He gave him another innocent kiss on the cheek.
"I'll walk you back." Kellin gave a small smile. He walked Vic back to the lunch table where Mike looked his brother up and down. Tony looked at Kellin with a raised eyebrow. He just shrugged back. Jaime on the other hand had gotten a hold of Vic's notebook and was now doodling on it.
"Himes. Stop it." Jaime held the drawing out to the two boys. It had the head and tail of cat but a cloud like body. Jaime looked so proud of it.
"It's a sheepcat Vic. Sheepcat!!!!" Vic gave a little smile at his friend. He was like a kid most of the time. Kellin laced his fingers in with Vic's. Tony caught the gesture and now had both eyebrows raised. Vic was so preoccupied with Jaime that he didn't notice Tony's watchful gaze take note of their hands. The bell sounded around them and Kellin reluctantly let Vics hand free.
"I'll see you later. Right?" Vic grabbed his notebook from Jaime. He seemed taken back that Kellin would want to keep hanging out with him. He placed his discarded beanie back on his head. He found himself nodding back before he could think more on the subject. "Great. Bye guys." Kellin waved to all of them. As he was leaving Tony came up behind Vic.
"We will talk about you holding his hand later. Come on Hime-Time lets go." Vic felt his mouth drop open. Tony and Jaime started walking towards their science class. They shouldn't even be in the same class considering Tony is a sophomore and Jaime is a junior. But Jaime failed chemistry because the teacher couldn't keep his attention.
"What's Tony's deal today? He was quiet." Vic jumped at Mike who was now next to him. His brother was so much taller than him. They both had long brown hair, brown eyes, and thin body structures. Not to mention the fact that they both had tan skin thanks to their Hispanic decent. It looks like Mike is the older brother though.
"Tony was quiet? Like that never happens everyday." Mike smiled, looking towards the sky. His brother was joking around. He couldn't ask for more besides him laughing and smiling. But he supposes that will come in time.
"He might not be that bad. Just be careful hermano. I don't want you to get hurt." Vic watched as his brother walked towards his class.
"God I'm so useless."
"Oh you finally realized it." He whipped around to see Amy standing there with Kevin and Jake. Vic felt fear course threw his veins. He didn't have Kellin here to protect him.
"Why are we doing this? He's going to kill himself soon just like his little boyfriend." Jake spit on Vic's shoes.
"Well he has Kellin wrapped around his finger." Kevin interjected.
"I thought that was Amy's job." Jake and Kevin chuckled.
"Not yet. But we will be dating soon and be the perfect couple on campus." Amy clapped her hands together. "First though. Stay away from Kellin." Vic scoffed.
"Believe me. I've tried."
"Stay away from him or your brother and your friends will pay for it." Vic felt his stomach lurch. He couldn't do that to them. They were the only thing he had to keep him sane. "Do we have an agreement?" Kellin wasn't anything special and Vic most likely wasn't gong to miss him. The bell rang for class to begin. He was late.
"Yes. We have an agreement. But what if he come to me." Vic would have to run to class after this.
"Be hateful." And with that they walked away. Be hateful? To Kellin? It was impossible for Vic to even cringe away from his touch. Being hateful to him will be damn near impossible.
"Life is complicated." Vic sighed as he picked up his books. He would probably do his homework in photography since he already finished the project for the class. He ran in muttering an apology to the teacher. Homework finish, project done, Vic was left the rest of the hour to think about Kellin. He went up to the teachers desk. Ms. Terrace was a nice woman in her late 20s. She was Vic's favorite teacher.
"How you holding up sweetheart?" She smiled warmly. She was a thin redhead with green eyes that were brought out by the small freckles lining her nose. He frowned.
"I, um. Not good." She pulled a wheelie chair next to hers. Vic gladly sat down. "Thank you."
"So what's going on?" Vic looked down at his hands and twiddled his fingers together. He leaned back in the chair.
"Kellin Quinn." Her eyes went wide.
"He's not bullying you, is he?" Vic gave a dry laugh.
"Actually...." Vic rubbed the back of his head. "It's quite the opposite. He's being sweet. He even kissed me on the cheek." He hid his blushing face in his hands. Ms. Terrace gasped.
"No way!" She shouted. A few kids raised their head to look at her. She cleared her throat. "Vic! That's amazing."
"But there is Amy." She groaned.
"What does that bitch want?" Her cursing didn't surprise him.
"She wants me to stay away from Kellin. She's still dreaming of becoming the perfect couple. She's says that she'll hurt Mike, Jaime, and Tony. I can't let that happen."
"But you like him, yes?" Vic sighed.
"I think I like the idea of him. I mean who doesn't." Ms.Terrace nodded in agreement. "He made me laugh today. I feel comfortable if he touches me. It just scares me what he can do." Vic looked up from his hands at the teacher in front of him. The only word he could use to describe her face was pure shock. She regained her composure.
"Oh." She cleared her throat again. "Well I say he's something special. When are you going to talk to him again? You should really tell about Amy. Even if it's just to Jaime or Tony." Some kid came up and turned in a project.
"I'll talk to Tony, maybe Jaime. But Kellin is out of the question. I should be avoiding him anyways."
"Haven't you ever read the stories were the girl or boy keeps something from one another. It ends up being the worst mistake of their lives. Don't do that." Vic held back a laugh as the door behind him opened.
"You read too many romance novels for a teacher." Ms. Terrace rolled her eyes.
"I'm only 27 Victor. I'm allowed to read them."
"Um Ms. Terrace?" Vic whipped around to see Kellin standing at the door. Kellin put a smile on when he saw Vic and sauntered over to the desk in front of him. "Hey Vic." He noticed the tan boy blush.
"Hi." Vic quickly answered. Kellin noticed Ms. Terrace wink but decided not to say anything about it.
"You need something Kellin?" Kellin tore his eyes away from Vic to see the teacher smiling at him. She was cute. He had his eyes on someone else though.
"Mr. Fuckfac- I mean Lawson needs the papers he printed her forgot them." Kellin smiled innocently at his little slip up. He looked over at Vic who was biting his lip to keep from laughing. He want to hear Vic laugh again.
"Oh yes. I can get them real quickly." She went to the back of the classroom where the printer is. Kellin leaned across her desk and placed a kiss by Vic's ear.
"What are you doing? We are in class."
"So?" Ms. Terrace came back slowly sneaking up on the two boys. They were too cute for their own good. Maybe Oliver was right about the the connection they have. Vic was fighting his demons while Kellin was hiding from his. Kellin pulled back a little so he was looking straight into Vic eyes. He whispered something and Vic had a big smile come across his face. "Ms. Terrace. I believe ease dropping is rude." Kellin stood up straight. She felt herself blushing just as much as Vic.
"Here is the papers."
"Thanks." Kellin turned back to Vic with a grin. "Bye Cutie." He winked and walked back to his class with the papers.
"Don't say anything." Vic glared at his teacher. She put her hands in defense.
"I didn't say anything." The bell rang. Vic mad his way towards his desk picking up his things. The rest of the classroom was empty except for those two. Vic waved as he headed for the door. "If I did have to say something.... It would be that you guys will make a good couple." Vic started making his way towards the football field.
"Wait? We WILL make a good couple." Vic started running the rest the way there. He needed to talk to his friends.
