Everything Has Changed

Whiskey & You

Sergio pulled up to the polo club in his brand new white Tesla Model S, he stepped out wearing a black blazer and slacks with a crisp white button down shirt under it with the top two buttons undone. He looked simply stunning, his hair was freshly cut, short on the sides like a buzz, but longer on the top so he could style it or spike it to his liking. His hair gave off a soft look, quite the opposite to his sexy stubble that covered his face. Alex arrived shortly before Sergio in a red evening gown, delicately designed with sparkles and rhinestones, her blonde hair was curled perfectly and her makeup was done to look elegant without trying too hard. She walked in with Justin on her arm and Sergio arrived, hand in hand with his new girlfriend Sara (For visual sake, she's Sara Carbonero, Iker Casillas' real life girlfriend but in the story they have never met prior to Sergio dating her and nothing will happen between them) Alex had to admit Sara looking absolutely stunning as well. The evening was rather uneventful for Alex and Sergio when you compare it to any of their other encounters. "Be With You" by Enrique Iglesias came on and Alex made awkward eye contact with Sergio, never before had she seen his eyes so cold, it made her shiver. "Baby now that you're gone, I just wanna be with you. And I can't go on, I wanna be with you." The song sang through the room. Alex walked over to get another drink but bumped into someone very solid and strong, she looked up, but her head shot back down immediately, Sergio didn't even look at her as he spoke, "Lo siento SeƱorita." He said plainly in Spanish, he knew all too well she didn't speak Spanish, and he didn't care. What Alex didn't know was when that song came on, and he made eye contact with her it was like a punch in the stomach, he had to play it off like he didn't care as he rushed out to get some air. "And now that you're gone, who am I without you now?" The song continued as Sergio quickly headed out to get some air. He couldn't breathe and it he knew why, he just didn't want to accept it.

It was a stormy, late night as Alex drove aimlessly as the tears streamed down her face. She and Justin had had another big fight, it was their second of the month and Alex didn't know what she should do. Alex continued to drive until her car broke down, she glanced out the window into the dark evening as the rain pounded the ground. Her heart dropped when she realized how close she was to Sergio's neighborhood, she didn't have another choice, it wasn't safe for her to stay out here in this weather in this dark deserted street, and Sergio's house was only a mile walk. Alex just hoped Sergio would at least let her in to call someone, since her cell phone had died. Alex got out of her car and began to shiver as the icy rain hit her light hoodie as she began her walk to Sergio's house.

It was 1am and Sergio lie awake in his large, empty bedroom, it had been harder lately having Alex no longer in his life, but he didn't have a choice, it was the consequence of his actions. Sergio sat up and hugged his knees to his chest, resting his chin on his knee caps, as he listened to the rain hit his rough. Sergio had to admit it was better than the dead silence that he usually dealt with on nights like this one, he was about to head downstairs to drink when his intercom crackled to life. "Sergio pl-pl-please let me in." Alex's voice was shaky from the cold and and her own tears. Sergio shuffled over to the intercom and sighed into it, "why?" he asked coldly. "B-b-because m-my c-c-car broke down and I-I need to call someone." Alex said weakly. "Fine." Sergio sighed and opened the gate. Alex hurried up the long driveway to his front door and walked in, dripping wet, she looked up at the stairs and saw Sergio walking down, "Why are you here?" He asked slightly annoyed. "Because he and I had a fi-" Alex started as Sergio held his hand up for her to stop, "You know what, I don't care, you're ruining my hardwood floors go to the bathroom and I'll bring you some clothes after you've showered." Sergio said shortly. "S-sorry Mr. Ramos." Alex said with her head down. "/Don't/ call me that I hate it, people who work for me and people who are beneath me, call me that, you are neither." Sergio responded bitterly. "Sorry." Alex said as she hurried to the bathroom, she walked in and peeled off her soaking wet clothes, she then huddled into a ball on the cold tile and started to cry. Sergio returned quickly with a black t-shirt, black sweatshirt, and white sweatpants, all two sizes too big for Alex. He set them down neatly folded in front of the door and went to knock before he heard her crying. He felt sad, and almost guilty when he heard her. Sergio took a deep breath and knocked quietly a few times, "Clothes are outside when you need them." Sergio said before walking away.

Alex showered quickly, enjoying the hot water briefly before getting out and changing into the large comfy clothes Sergio left. The clothes even smelled like Sergio, his familiar scent of Burberry cologne and hair gel comforted Alex a little more than she had expected. She took one last sniff before pulling her hair up in a bun and walking into the kitchen to find Sergio sitting with a glass of Jack Daniel's on ice, reading the newspaper. "I thought you had gone upstairs to sleep." Alex said shoving her hands into the sweatshirt pockets. Sergio finished his drink and studied the ice as he spoke, "Eh, I don't really do that too much anymore." He responded before getting up to pour himself another drink. "Oh." Alex said looking at the ground. "Oh by all means, don't let me keep you up. I'll be around and the you can sleep in the bedroom down the hall." Sergio said plainly as he finished pouring his drink and took a sip. "Stop drinking." Alex said. Sergio was stunned she had been so bold to say something like that. "Excuse me? Since when do you control how much I can I drink, it's too late for me to box, and it's too cold outside for football, so this is my other way of blocking things out. If you don't like it, you can leave." Sergio said irritated. "Fine." Alex hissed and stormed off to the room Sergio had set up for her. Alex could here the ice in his glass rustle gently, as he went to pour himself a third drink. Alex hated when he drank and she wished he wouldn't but she had no control over it or him. Alex pulled the blankets over her head and started to cry as she realized how much her life had fallen apart recently. The one she loved, was so unpredictable, and the one who loved her no longer cared and preferred to drink his problems away while he suffered from insomnia. She heard footsteps come up to her door. "Please don't cry." Sergio said softly from the other side. "Go away Sergio." Alex snapped. "Not until you stop crying." He responded. "Then you'll stay there all night." Alex said. "Well I wasn't planning on sleeping anyways so that's not a threat." Sergio said. Alex groaned and turned away from the door, cuddling the sheets close to her face. The door opened and Alex heard Sergio set a glass down on the table behind her before he walked out. She turned to see he had left her a drink, a strong one at that, which was good, she needed it right now. She chugged the drink and slammed the glass on the table again before turning over and finally falling asleep.
