The Animal Within

Drex

Moving around place to place wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do, but with a Mom and Dad in the military, it's as common place as knowing if you want ketchup on a hot dog. Ever since my family moved to the United States 300 years ago, they have fought for many different means and reasons - so many that I didn't even care to remember half of what they fought for.

All I know is that they were laying the foundation for when I met Demetri once more. My parent's being in the military is just an added bonus, because each time we move is another step closer to Jeremy and Demetri that my sister and I get.

I think you might be a little more than confused when I say that so here's what's going on behind the scenes. Let's take a walk through that very scary scene that my sister and I let you read before you started reading my point of view.

Let's delve isn't my personal Heaven which has become my personal Hell.

Flashback.

It all started in Romania in the time of Prince Vlad the Impaler. The Ottoman's were always knocking on Romania's door, but never seemed to quite make it until they were sent scurrying back to their tents like rats to a hole.

My sister and I were part of a Noble family named House of Blackwood. The peasants and preachers thought that we were Turkish spies, but we weren't; we were just Nobles living by our Christian ways, and nothing more. That didn't stop the town from thinking we were witches and warlocks, though. I found it kind of funny at first that a town would think these ignorant things of my family, but then it got all too real when I found my grandmother dead in her beloved garden.

We knew that death was going to start becoming a visitor as our time wore on so we changed our title from Blackwood to Lockwood, and moved closer to Transylvania so we may be closer to the Prince and his protective eyes, and that was the time my heart felt like it was stabbed right through the center before being pushed out my back.

That is where I met Demetri.

You might think this is the classical Noble or Peasant falls for the other, and then they live happily ever after. I'm here to say you a dreadfully wrong, because loving another of the same gender back in those times was strictly forbidden - by both church and state. Lord Vlad Draculi couldn't find a reason to care though since he was more worried about his country falling into foreign hands, but, still, I snuck out every night just to follow the Peasant boy I had secretly fallen for.

I don't know what nonsense was my driving force at those times, but I would have to say it was love-at-first-sight now. I was in love with someone of my own gender, and I couldn't have felt the excitement course through my veins greater than it had been those nights.

One night, as I was following the Peasant boy, I was shoved up against the wall by someone that looked exactly like my Peasant boy, only, this one seemed more aggressive and headstrong than the sweet and kind boy that I always followed. "Why are you following my brother?" he had growled out to me, and that's when I had known that my Peasant boy had a doppelganger. "Jeremy!" my Peasant boy's voice rang out into the night.

"Not now Demetri! Go inside!" Jeremy, the boy holding me to the wall, growled out to him. "Don't! I...I haven't minded him following me all the time, in fact it was actually comforting that he was following me" Demetri said a bit intimidated by his twin brother.

I honestly don't know how, eventually, Demetri and I started meeting at night under the watchful, bright gaze of the moon but we did; those times would make my blood sing, my eyes feel like they'd never shut, and a permanent smile to mar my face each and every day. A few years down the line, we started to meet for more intimate purposes that were our secret's to tell.

I can tell you now, I would never go back on our first time together - it was the most precious time that we had, because we were young, in love, and inexperienced but we learned how to make the other make soft or loud noises eventually, and we'd just tumble around in the wheat fields.

Those times were my personal Heaven, and I will never forget them.

When we died, it became my personal Hell; I'd never look into his chocolate brown eyes ever again. I'd never be able to tell him that I love him ever again. I'd never tell him where I hid the locket he gave me, because I didn't want anyone to look upon it except me.

Life just didn't seem fair, but my sister, my older fraternal twin sister, cured all that with one vow that we'd live again, and we are living again. We are living to find the reincarnations of Jeremy and Demetri, and I feel that we may have just found the place to cross paths with them.

We arrived in Beacon Hills, California two months ago and have yet to find anything of them here, but patience is a must. Being reincarnations is one thing, but being human is another. We may have our memories, but we don't have any special powers that would get us noticed on a supernatural scale and that's just how we want it to be.

If we were to get noticed, there would bound to be trouble by something in the area, and all we wanted was to find the ones we loved again - not get noticed by something more deadly out there than a bullet.
