Status: In Progress
The New Face of Failure
Harper Williams fears a lot of things: rejection, social situations and boys, to name a few, and these things usually come in a big package wrapped in a pretty “fuck you” bow. So for her, college is the scariest thing she is ever going to face. Sure, she’s excited to get to go to class, that is something she isn’t scare of because she is good at it, especially when it comes to writing. But everything else that defines the college experience terrifies her. It doesn’t help that she has decided to go to a large school in a big city. Her only goal: to make it out in four years and become a writer. Nothing else matters to her.
Patrick Stump doesn’t want to be in college, not really. He’s just there to appease his mother who is afraid that he’ll end up sleeping on her couch for the next decade as he tries to become a famous rock star with his friends and never amount to anything. He goes to class, but his mind is always thinking about rhythms, beats and how to build a catchy hook, not the boring American History I lecture. When he can finally get finished with classes, he is at his friend Pete’s garage writing songs and getting ready for the next crappy show that they will do. That’s his only dream: to write music and perform with his friends.
When these two crash into each other it changes each of their lives in ways they never expected.
