Oh Darling

Don't ever leave me alone.

Lights shone brightly over the raven-haired boy as he watched his boyfriend pacing back and forth right in front of him. You see, that night Vic was playing on a café for the very first time in what seemed like years and although Kellin tried to comfort and assure him that everything was going to be all right, the Hispanic man wouldn't believe such words.

Vic had never felt good enough, and he was sure his voice wasn't anything special either. He was just an average college student that had gone out with his boyfriend on a weekend, not knowing how the hell had he agreed on singing up for such contest. Well, in fact… he did know. A certain couple of puppy eyes had something to do with it. Kellin’s turquoise eyes, to be precise.

The pale man had begged Vic repeatedly to perform because he had listened him singing in the shower before without him noticing. He had sat by the door just listening to the beautiful melody of his voice and he was a hundred percent sure his boyfriend would kill it that night. Since Kellin had known the Hispanic man back in high school, he always noticed how Vic put himself down, never believing in himself and it worried him a lot how such a perfect human being wasn’t able to see all his abilities. Maybe this was what Vic needed.

“Kellin, I don’t know. I can’t do this.” Vic whined, looking back at his boyfriend pleadingly. The blue eyed man sighed and wrapped his arms around Vic’s waist in a tight embrace, smelling the sweet cinnamon scent that emanated from the shorter man’s long brown curls.

"You're gonna do just fine baby. I promise." Kellin peeled himself of his boyfriend and took his tanned shaking hand in between his pale one, squeezing it to give Vic comfort somehow. A timid smile made its way towards the tanned man's lips, showing off his bright white teeth. The blue eyed man smiled back, loving how the corners of Vic's warm brown eyes wrinkled by the gesture. It made him look like an excited child.

"Vic Fuentes?" A girly voice asked, making them turn to her, still holding hands. Vic swallowed hard and looked back at Kellin with fear in his eyes.

"Yeah, that's m-me." He answered and turned to the girl again, who nodded and pointed to the stage.

"It's your turn." She said and smiled sweetly at them before disappearing.

"Darling, you’ll be ok." Kellin tried to calm Vic down by capturing his plush lips on his own, massaging them in a sweet kiss that lasted a little bit more than fifteen seconds while placing his right hand on top of Vic's rosy cheek. The oldest sighed, reluctantly let go of his boyfriend's warm hold and walked upstairs to the stage. He could feel his throat closing in and his hands growing sweatier than ever, but he had to calm down. It wasn't like the whole audience was going to be mean.

When he was on stage, he looked at the guitar sitting on the chair placed in the middle and went to pick it up before starting to strum the sweet melody of "Oh! Darling" by The Beatles. Cheeks burning hot red as he stared at the ground out of shyness.

Kellin looked at his boyfriend as the man started to vocalize the lyrics, tears picking on the corner of his own blue eyes. Vic perfectly knew what that song meant to both of them and it was the sweetest thing ever that he picked that one over a thousand more he could've sung.

He remembers that day like it was yesterday.

Both boys were timidly sitting next to each other on the gym's bleachers as they watched their classmates dancing wildly to some pop song. It was prom and they were as nervous as they could be. Their family and closest friends knew about their relationship but definitely the whole school didn't and they were afraid of their reaction.

As if on cue, the sweet melody of said song started to fill the room's air, instantly changing the atmosphere as couples danced together slowly. It was now or never. Kellin stood up in front of Vic and reached out his hand, the shorter male looked up at him with big brown eyes full of fear but held it anyway.

Both of them walked to the middle of the ball with fingers intertwined, earning a few curious glances from people surrounding them, then stood in middle of the dance floor as Kellin placed his hands on Vic's hips and the tanner boy placed his own on Kellin's neck, swinging side to side following the music.

Vic closed his eyes and rested his head in the crook of his boyfriend's neck as the pale boy rested his cheek atop of Vic's head and felt their hearts beating furiously against their chests. Vic smiled to himself as he smelled the sweet perfume Kellin always wore and he had grown fond of.

When he looked up, he met Kellin's breathtaking blue eyes staring at him lovingly and he couldn't help but peck his lips shortly before blushing furiously, the slightly taller boy giggled and cupped Vic's head in his hands, crashing their lips in a long passionate kiss.

Both boys felt their stomachs erupting in butterflies as their lips danced in a sweet harmony without enticing the gasps around them. It was like the whole world didn’t exist.

After they came out, of course they received negative comments about their relationship but a few people also congratulated them because they had noticed the way they looked at each other. Some even dared to say they wish they had somebody that looked at them they way they looked at each other.

Truth to be told, they realized they shared this special connection even before they started dating. They didn’t know what it was, but it was there and neither of them could deny it. There were the little things that the other did without even realizing that made them fall in love helplessly with each other.

Kellin snapped out of his daze when he heard Vic’s high pitched voice trying to reach John Lennon’s tone but failed miserably. He looked at the oldest and smiled comfortingly, trying to ease the redness on the tanned man’s cheeks, who returned the smile sheepishly.

When Vic looked up for the first time into the crowd, the first thing he laid his eyes on were Kellin's shining blue orbs staring in awe at him accompanied with a huge smile plastered all over his face. He knew he had made the right choice when the pale man mouthed the words “I love you” to him and his heart fluttered in delight. No matter how many times they said those words to each other, the feeling never got old.

The performance kept going on and Kellin couldn’t help but notice every little detail in Vic as the man interpreted the song on stage. He loved the way Vic’s eyebrows furrowed in concentration when he looked down at the guitar, trying not to mistake its cords, or how his eyes lit up whenever he smiled and looked at him. He couldn’t deny how deep his love for the other male was.

Vic couldn’t help but keep stealing glances towards Kellin, whose smile wouldn’t die down. He had loved Kellin for so long he couldn’t imagine his life without him. He was his best friend, his confident, his anchor. He was the only one who was there even when things were rough.

Kellin had been there all through his panic attacks way back in high school, he was the one who didn’t give up on the shorter man when his anxiety kicked in and he couldn’t get his words out right. He was the one who kept pushing because he knew that underneath that shy little boy, there was a huge heart worth the fight for. And he wasn’t wrong.

Vic had been so sick of it all and needed someone to be there for him when the pale boy came into his life. It was like a miracle. Kellin had saved him, and he didn’t even know it. In fact, the blue eyed man kept saving him everyday. Whenever Vic felt down and hated himself, Kellin was always there to cheer him up and word out an endless list of why he was perfect for him while they spent the rest of the day cuddling under warm blankets on the sofa of their living room. Vic was thankful for all of it.

He had been so caught up in his own thoughts; he had not realized the song was about to come to an end, which was why he fully focused his attention on Kellin as the last words left his mouth. A little smile tugging on the corner of his lips while he looked into the deep blue eyes of his boyfriend, who was looking at him with his mouth covered by his trembling hand.

Kellin wasted no time on running to his boyfriend after he left the stage, wrapping his arms around the small waist and resting his forehead against Vic's. It was moments like those what both boys cherished the most. Just being able to hold each other and feel like they belonged there; feel that sense of security each other arms' brought to them.

There was no other place they'd rather be than standing in the middle of that little café, exchanging feelings, not by words… but by the way they looked into each other's eyes.
