Sequel: True Confessions

Lies 1-50

Martha. Boy.

My mother was shockingly happy when I walked in the door. I escaped a beating that night and I was glad. I still hurt from my arms to my legs.

"Honey, this is Seth."

So there had to be a reason. There was always a reason with my mother, she always had something up her sleeve. I smiled but hated meeting him none the less. He had a bleak look to him, his stance was boring and plain. Nothing was sharp about him but his teeth. Even his eyes were a dull, colorless blue. He wasn't very good looking, in my opinion.

"Hello Seth."

"Charlotte, I assume."

"Your assumption is correct. Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom."

My mother followed me in and said, "You should go out with Seth. He is the heir to billions of dollars from his father's hotel."

"Oh? And What makes him so special?"

"The money dear. Don't you want to get out of my house soon? You need a life."

"I have a life, and a boyfriend mom. I don't want to go out with a hotel heir."

"No you don't. You're going out with a low life musician who will do nothing with his life."

"I'd love him if he was the bum that lives on the side of the road mom. He understands me. He loves me."

God, I sounded like a teenager again. I wanted to escape the grip of her eyes, but I wouldn't back down. Not before her anyway.

"At least talk to him. Give him a chance or I'll break your face and tell the media you fell down a flight of steps."

"So you can save your own ass?"

She hissed and smacked me lightly. A warning, I supposed. She always 'warned' me. It was the calm before the storm.

"GO. NOWWWW." She strung out those w's like she was a crack addict getting high for the eightieth time. It was all to common, yet not felt long enough for her to enjoy it like she wanted. I didn't give her that satisfaction.

My face stayed serious and I said, "Chances don't mean a thing." Suddenly, neither did those w's.

After a languid conversation with Seth, I pretended I was too tired to stay awake any longer and I heded upstairs.

I packed up the few things I owned and called Noah.

"Noah?"

"Charlotte?"

"Yeah. Do you want to come pick me up? Be quiet about it, I'll be sneaking out my window."

"Sure, I'll be over in a few minutes. I'll flash my lights twice."

"Thanks. Does that offer still stand about me moving in?"

"Yeah, always. Why? Are you considering it?"

"I already have my bags packed. Alright, see you in a few. Bye."

"Bye."

My foot hit the floor with a blunt bang that I'm sure my mother heard. I paced around waiting for him.

Then in the background the lights flashed twice and I climbed out my window quietly.

"Hey Noah."

I leaned over and kissed him vigorously for a few seconds.

"Hey yourself." His eyes were kind of glossy and he had a silly little grin on his face.

I smirked back and put my hand in his. We drove away to freedom and sanity knocked at my skull. I was finally leading a normal life, everything was going to be left behind and I couldn't wait.

Noah removed his fingers from my grip and turned on a CD he popped into place.

And over the speakers, Turbulence beat loudly. My song. I didn't care how loud, obnoxious, 'politically incorrect' it was, it was my song and it spoke volumes in my ears.

"NOAH!" I screamed over the music, "DID YOU TELL THE GUYS!?"

"No. I figured it could be a surprise."

He shut off the music again just so we could have a normal conversation, which took up all the time to get there. Ahh, sanctuary. We stepped into the house and I stealthily snuck up behind Skinner and jumped on his back. He screamed like a girl.

"Skinnerrrrrrrrrrr! Guess who?!"

"GET OFF LEVI! OFF! I'M NOT OF THAT ORIENTATION!"

"Skinner!" I smacked him hard and said, "It's Charlotte. I've come to live with my favorite band. Fun huh?"

"Yay!" He screamed and it almost burst my eardrums. His hair was a nice brown color today, no longer that orangey/red color it was.

"Nice hair Skinner. Very refined." I jummped off his back and was attacked by Levi and Drake for hugs.

"Blech, I KNOW," Skinner spat. "Tomorrow do you want to help me bleach it? I want purple."

"Sure."

"You're staying? Here? Forever?" Drake asked.

"Yes, yes, and only as long as you guys will have me."

"FOREVER THEN!" Levi shouted and threw his arms around me for another hug.

"Hands off the girlfriend." Noah said with a mock threat.

"Hands on, oh please!" I begged suggestively and laughed.

"Now you don't have to work so much! You can pick your favorite job and then you can spend more time with us! YAY!" Levi exclaims with pure joy running off his tongue.

"Club Vamp it is then. Even more time with you!"

Noah came up behind me and started playing with my hair. I watched through drooping eyes as my new 'family' played Twister. It was hysterical, but I really couldn't laugh because Noah was still playing with my hair and I was exhausted.
